Trip has taken over the role of Paul as Ash's main rival, who's a bit of a jerk and comes across as the superior trainer. Bianca has taken over the role of Barry as an inferior rival, friend and clutz all rolled into one.

So Cheren couldn't even fit into either of those roles. Basically, his very existence is pointless..

I would personally hope that Stephan remains the only one of those, at least until the league rival (preferably Hilda) appears, because I don't want a repeat of the Sinnoh League where there were too many rivals IMO.

Umm, if Gigalith is a trade evolution... Then ash will not have a gigalith >.> it will turn into boldore, then he'll trade for Trip's Gurdurr (>.> it's possible)

Iris will keep Axew (it's too cute XD) and she will get Deino -> Zweilous -> Hydreigon to prove that she is a true dragon master and will battle Drayden for a rematch

Cilan is definetly getting a Crustle, and I have this feeling that Pansage won't evolve, but it would be nice

Trip is going to get Vanilluxe How else is it going to get an appearance?

The Gothi line is definetly recurring throughout the series. Either Ash of Iris is getting one (obviously it will have a relation to Scraggy).

Personally, i believe that Snivy will evolve (spend a short time as servine) and will be the first fuly evolved starter of the series to show off it's mature and refined personality.

Oshawatt will be the last to evolve, but Tepig will not reach emboar.

I'd really like to hope that by the time that the (possible) R/S Remakes come out, i'd like to see the reappearance of Hoenn pokemon to sell the next games. Iris & Altaria/Salamence/Flygon???. Maybe even Cilan catches some Hoenn pokemon??

Stephan could have some major role in the Unova League, or even Cheren could be like a Unova clone of Conway and may battle Ash.

Here's what I would predict:

Ash battles Cheren in what appears to be a tough battle (similar to Conway's strategy with Trick Room)

Bianca loses to Trip (similar to how Barry lost to Paul)

Ash battles Trip in the semi-finals and defeats him (like how Ash defeated Paul)

Ash then faces a tough rival in the final (I'm leaning toward Hilda from the games) then loses (similar to Ash losing to Tobias)

League rival (I think Hilda) wins the Unova League title (it's about time a female won a regional League in the anime; we already had an unknown Trainer in Kanto, Ash in the Orange Islands, Jon Dickson in Johto, Tyson in Hoenn and Tobias in Sinnoh)

Ash finishes as runner-up (he finished 16th in Kanto, 8th in Johto and Hoenn, 4th in Sinnoh)

Pikachu - Definitely.
Servine - I see Snivy evolving but only once.
Emboar - I think Tepig will evolve but I don't think he'll end up like Torterra.
Samurott - Oshawott is Ash's main starter, so I see it fully evolving (he hasn't had any Water-types evolve since Kingler)
Unfezant - Ash's birds always fully evolve.
Gigalith - Evolves while trading with Trip's Gurdurr.
Palpitoad - Its evolution looks ugly, please don't evolve.
Leavanny - I definitely see him evolving.
Scrafty - Evolves on par with Iris's Axew.
Reuniclus - This is probably the only Unova Psychic that suits Ash (Gothita is way too girly)
Cubchoo - Ash hasn't caught an Ice-type since Glalie plus it could be for comedy relief should Oshawott evolve.
Golett - Ash also hasn't owned a Ghost-type, and Golett is perfect for him.
Lairon - Possible capture during filler saga to promote R/S remakes plus he hasn't owned any Steel-types yet.

also I don't think ash will capture a 3rd gen pokemon the only times he's ever caught an older gen pokemon is when it evolves into a new pokemon

I wanted to say this because I was watching some of the older BW episodes. I was watching Ash's Gym Battle against Burgh. I think Sewaddle evolved to early. I understand it being a bug type and everything, but still. I would have liked to see it as a Sewaddle longer; I think Sewaddle could've gotten some really good development. Now Swadloon gets no attention... It's probably dead...


On an unrelated note, I think Cilan should get a Lillipup... I think he should get it as an egg and it could possibly become the baby of the group after Scraggy grows up and Axew evolves. Plus, almost every main character thus far has gotten an egg.

Ash- Donphan, Larvitar, and Scraggy
Misty- Azurill and Togepi
Brock- Chansey
May- Glaceon, and took care of Manaphy.
Dawn- Quilava
Cilan- Lillipup?


The only ones that haven't are Iris, Max, Cilan, and Tracey. Although, Tracey is the one that gave Misty the Azurill egg. Max can't have one because he isn't a trainer yet. So, really it's just Iris and Cilan. Cilan should get Lillipup and Iris can get one of the Hoenn Starters.

I've said it before and i'll say it again. If Cilan ever gets a member of the Lillipup line, then I will forever refer to them as Tintin and Snowy.

As for Combusken, all i'll say is that Cilan isn't good enough for such a cool Pokemon. If he gets any starter, it should be Mudkip. But i'd rather not see any starter suffer that fate at all..

To be fair, there's hardly ever a "good" argument for any Pokemon evolving, besides some sort of hinting done by the anime, anime team, or maybe merchandise.

True, but since Burgundy is on the Gym road, she could always wind up facing Ash at the League.

For some reason, I wouldn't be surprised if Cilan (and maybe Iris) participated in the League. I doubt that Gym Leaders need to collect Gym Badges to participate in the League, so Cilan wouldn't have an issue... and depending on Iris' connection with Opelucid's Gym, she could get into the League even though she hasn't collected badges.

(Of course, maybe it works differently for Gym Leaders, where they only challenge the Elite Four directly and don't actually participate in League battles.)

What I'm getting at here, though, is that even if Burgundy is in the League, that doesn't mean she's automatically going to be Ash's rival. She'll still be Cilan's, especially if he participates, but even if he doesn't.

Perhaps you're right but if the writers want to keep continuity from the original series, they could easily create some episode where Cilan and Iris take a long exam/test, and if they pass they could get a free pass into the Unova League, like Ash was trying to do in that one Kanto Episode.

The only problem I have is, why would Iris or Cilan enter the Unova League? What would the point be?

If the writers were that desperate to have Cilan and Iris in a huge tournament, they could just do a longer thought out "Club Battle" that way everyone who is everyone can enter.
