Oshawott is marketable enough to evolve?
I think it's marketable enough to not evolve...
Onix is practically confirmed not to be caught due to the opening
And the writers probably have a refusal to give Ash a second electric type.
I reckon the Magnemite is like Jigglypuff.. it just follows them.


When has anyone had their entire in-game team?
If it is him, he could have Samurott and 5 old gen pokes.
Or this rival might not be anyone that shows up in the games at all. (Tyson, Harrison, Morrison... so many "son's")
I can't find a solid reason for Oshawott to evolve all the way to Samurott.
"To break the curse" is not a solid reason.
Samarott may be marketable, but not as marketable as Oshawott (That car proves it)
So if you want to convince people Oshawott can reach Samurott, come up with a solid reason. Oshawott's issues were resolved (Aqua Jet) and if he evolved he gets 2 scalchops so it won't solve the issue of fighting without it...

Pignite: The Tepig line isn't as marketable as the others, so the writers can do whatever with it, so if they make it fully evolve they can show Ash is developing, getting stronger, etc.

The merchandise: The opening screwed up my theory of the merchandise affecting the anime, but I'm gonna still follow it for now...

Black 2 and White 2 have just been released in Japan which will draw in new fans; the producers will likely advertise Oshawott as the basic stage starter and be shown as an ideal starter. They evolved Tepig in the anime which is being mirrored by advertisements in B2W2, such as the player in the introduction trailer having an Emboar and some of the early screenshots showing Pignite battling Elesa's Flaffy.

I still can't understand how people still think the Onix can be caught.

The magnemite has some significance since it has appeared in at least two or three episodes. Personally though I think it will just be a recurring pokemon that just likes to zap the characters like Iris.

Nobody has ever had their entire in-game team, not even Barry, and it will probably never happen. Some characters like Iris might get some of the pokemon in their in-game teams but not alll of them. That's what is happening with Cynthia as her teams are always changing so the pokemon that have been in all of them like Lucario and Spiritomb have yet to be shown in the anime.

Morrison, Tyson and Harrison, as well as Tobias Personally though since Alder likes to call Ash and Trip "Ashton and Tripton", I think his grandson's english name will have "ton" in the end of it, and the kid will be a rival for the league and probably win it.

We're a couple of anime months before the league and Ash has an unova water powerhouse in Palpitoad; Oshawott's role is for marketing and I can't understand how people still think after all of this time that it will still evolve.

Yeah we can tell what you will be like if it happens, your signature confirms it. That is, if it happens which is indeed doubtful since the marketing for pokemon like Oshawott, Axew and Pansage is only going to increase with the new games.

Emboar-Charizard and Infernape are fully evolved so why not Pignite?
Snivy-I can see her evolve only once.
Scraggy-Can't see him evolving. Maybe in the next region.

Since they made Oshawott so marketable now, they wouldn't need to keep it the same in the anime. Ash doesn't need an Oshawott for them to sell Oshawott merchandise.

It's not only for merchandise, it's for views as well. The anime also has it's impact on merchandise selling, so evolving the otter may drop it's marketability.

He very well could, but that's not really the writers style from what we've seen.
Also we don't want anyone too overpowered to beat Ash now do we? Those 6 Magikarps will send him back to Kanto.

Nothing that should be taken full seriously.

Basically said something along the lines of "Boldore needs to be traded to evolved, Trip's Gurrdurr evolved though, so who knows", basically says nothing that would support Boldore not evolving, if anything it gives Boldore a fine chance at evolving since Trip's Gurdurr evolved.

There's simply been a large misunderstanding on what he said, people look more at him saying "It's unlikely"(Or whatever the exact words were), and not enough at the second point of Trip's Gurdurr evolving still.

They can just make an episode like we do ingame, trade and trade back, a kid needs to evolve his pokemon and Satoshi is fine evolving his after asking Boldore if he is fine, they trade and then trade back.

Your "best case scenario" is difficult for me to understand. It's basically what you want to happen, even though this thread was designed for people to post what they think will happen based on previous patterns and/or logic. Maybe it's just me, but I've never wanted Ash to have a team of fully-evolved Pokemon because: a) I know he couldn't possibly do enough training to evolve all his Pokemon to begin with, and b) very few fully-evolved Pokemon are marketable. The former would be difficult for the writers to execute, and the latter would be even more unreasonable because the writers would basically be shooting themselves in the foot. That's just how I feel, and notice the lack of ad hominem.

Because Shooti probably asked someone to trade him to evolve his, so why can't Satoshi or a kid that see his Boldore and wants to evolve his "pokemon that evolves by trading" ask to trade also?

Like the Belle episode it would not take the entire episode if this wasn't Best Wishes(thankfully), we could just get a TR interrupts after the trading and the group gets split plot.

let's see ash meets kid and battles boldore vs kadabra (to use your example) and loses. kid suggests trading and trading back to evolve both pokemon. ash asks boldore and its ok with it so that happens. ash does a little bit of training and then gigalith beats alakazam in the rematch
