Every D1 College football team in the State of Michigan is going to a bowl game. Well, besides Michigan State. After finishing the season 3-9 they will be sitting at home. It's crazy because Michigan State was a playoff team last season. Michigan State lost so much talent from last year's team. Well, that really showed this season.
MSU definitely lost talent, but most places predicted them to win at least 8 games in the regular season (some combination of losses to Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State). 3-9 was Michigan's worst season ever back in 2008 when Rich Rod came into town.
The CFB rankings were just updated today. Michigan is #5 in the CFB Playoff rankings. If Washington or Clemson lose Michigan may end up in the playoff. Clemson plays Virginia Tech. Honestly, I see Clemson winning that game, but I said the same thing when Clemson played Pittsburgh. I think Colorado is more than capable of beating Washington. We shall see, though.
In all reality the CFB Playoff should be bigger. At least make it an 8 team playoff.
As I expected, if Clemson and Washington win out, the playoff is set without any major controversy (even if Michigan has a more impressive resume than Washington). If either one loses, it opens the door to either Michigan or the B10 champion. However, Holcutt did say the margin between Washington and Michigan was extremely small, so if Washington-Clemson ends up being a ****fest and a narrow Washington victory, they might compare the margin of victory against Michigan's and flip it. Basically we have root for Colorado and VA Tech, as well a close B10 title game between Wisconsin and PSU, to have a chance to reach fourth. The committee clearly wants Michigan to be in the top four, so that's promising at least.
And c'mon, who wouldn't want to see Saban v Harbaugh, after Meyer v Harbaugh II.
