You mean you nicknamed you Machop? I think it stays.... So you'll be known as Machop the Machamp.

Your nickname will be Machamp I think because on other Pokemon games, let's use emerald, if you nickname a Treecko Treecko, once it evolves into a Grovyle, It's name will be Grovyle. I think the same principle would apply.

what i mean is-if you name a pokemon by its official name, then when it evolves it will be by the name of its evolution.
ex-if you name machop-machop, then when it evolves into machoke, then it will be by the name of machoke.

Let's say, you name a Pikachu Pikachu, then when you evolve it to Raichu, it will be named Raichu. That supposedly has to happen to your Machop when it evolves.

Okay, here's how it goes. It's just like R/S, when you nickname someone they will keep that nickname until you change it, regardless of evolution. But in MD, once you nickname someone, you won't be able to change it no matter what.

i nicknamed my squirtle squirtle, and evolved it and it is wartortle!
same with my chikorita, i named it chikorita and evovled it to meganium and it changed to meganium! if you name a pokemon its real name, then it changes with evolution!
