Nintendo DS Games to Own

Well I decided to make a topic on the DS games every DS Owner should own or atleast give a try!

Wario Ware Touched! - it doesn't have a storyline - but it's an easy game to just pick up and play. There are over 180 microgames to play. If you like using the touch screen it's used like 95% of the time, the other 5% is using the microphone. Definately worth trying and to get you used to the touch screen. I give this game an 8/10

Meteos - A fun Puzzle game for the Nintendo DS. It has you doing like what you do in most puzzlers - which is lining up blocks. The twist is you have to line them up in a specific order and make the Meteos blast into space - your main mission is to destroy the planet Meteo. Anyway, it comes with lots of extras such as a Sound Test and many other things. I give this game a 9/10

Kirby Canvas Curse - This is a really innovative game featuring our favorite Pink Puffball (No, not Jigglypuff) KIRBY! Kirby gets turned into a ball by a curse from a witch. Your objective is to guide Kirby through levels using the stylus and collect Metals to unlock secrets and many more extra stuff. It will have you collecting special moves for Kirby as in previous games but he won't be sucking in any enemies. This game is worth trying. I give this game a 9/10

Nintendogs - An awesome puppy simulator from Nintendo. It has you caring, training, and playing with a puppy. There are 3 versions with a total of 18 different dogs. You are allowed a total of 3 dogs in your home and 5 in the dog hotel. Anyway, you pamper and train your Nintendog to do tricks & to even compete in competitions such as Frisbee Catching, Agility, and even obedience. This is definately a good game or should I say sim for someone who doesn't like traditional videogames. I would definately recommend choosing the version that best suits your interest. I give this game a 9/10! ^_^

Mario Kart DS - This game is really awesome. I love how you can race your friends, people who are at the same rank as you, and people from all over the world. The game has several playable characters and some secret characters to unlock. There are also an assortment of 30 tracks to race on. There is some limits online with the game but they aren't too bad. I would say this game is really amazing and fun and is worth getting for you Racing game people who wanna race against people across the world! I would recommend this to anyone! I give this game a 9.5/10 ^_^

Sonic Rush - This game is really awesome and has some interesting features. It's basically got the elements of a Sonic game - lots of high paced speed running and the occasional run in on some enemies. To get to the special stages is much easier than the Advance games for GBA - you have to charge up your Tension, grab onto the wheel and keep using your tension until a Warp hole appears above and you get thrown in it. This game has some really detailed level designs and keeps you going almost the entire time. Through loops, grinding, and even stunts keep you going. Another new feature to the Sonic game is Stunts. You get points for doing various stunts when you go off a ramp or fly up into the air that add into your final score after you touch the golden ring at the end. I would definately recommend this to any Sonic Fan and to anyone in general who likes high speed games.
(A downfall to the game is that instead of the Game Character voices from the Sonic Adventure series - they fired them and used the Anime voices >_>;)
Anyway, I give this game an awesome 9.5/10! ^_^

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time - What can I say about this game? You team up with Baby Mario & Baby Luigi in an attempt to save Princess Peach from the Shroobs (Purple Mushroom Aliens). The babies stay on the elders backs and will have to venture off to disable obstacles to be able to proceed through the game. One thing I have experienced is the updated Battle System. (If you’ve played Superstar Saga then you should know what I’m talking about.) The battling system is almost the same except your using 4 characters. You have an advantage with 4 characters because you can do double damage in a Brothers Attack by pushing a few buttons. The graphics are better than its predecessor but still use relatively the same types of animations. The voices sound funny and the game has tons of various humorous moments from “leet speak” to the noises Luigi makes when he’s confused or scared. This game is definitely recommended to fans of RPG style games. Partners in Time is a bit on the short side but is definitely worth playing. I give this game a 9/10.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow Coming Soon

DBZ: Supersonic Warriors 2 Coming Soon

Asphalt Urban GT Coming Soon (Yeah, I guess I will do a review for it...)

Pokémon Dash Coming Soon (I'm not too sure I will do a review...) (Maybe if you get it at a bargain price of say $5?)

That's all for now, more in the future :)

Feel free to add your own statements on games you own/have played. Please make sure it explains the objective(if there is one), your opinion, and some of its features and then give it your own rating out of 10.

If you do not understand, DO NOT POST WHATSOEVER - Private Message me instead...

Actually Pokemon Dash was just created to test out and demonstarte the capabilities of the DS, but they wanted to make money off of it so they made a game.
Meteos should be at the top of the list with Dawn of Sorrows Mario Kart Nintendogs and Kirby Canvas Curse,seeing as they are the only DS games so far with a 5 out of 5 from X-Play.

I'll post the Dash one from the other topic:

Pokemon Dash

The first Pokemon game on the DS is a spinoff, and a bit of a letdown. You play as Pikachu, and you race other pokemon to win a cup. You can get stuck in some places, but then it gets really boring. After completing Easy Mode, you go onto Hard mode. This is also a letdown, as it's basically the same. One good thing about the game is that you can insert a GBA Pokemon adventure into the GBA slot, then use your current team as tracks.

Good Points

::You can use pokemon as racetracks
::The graphics are OK
::Munchlax's first appearance in a game

Bad Points

::Short
::You can only play as Pikachu
::Boring in most places

Overall

6/10: You can play on it for a few days, but then it gets boring. If you want a good racer, buy Mario kart DS

Lessee, I only have three DS games at the moment:

Mario Kart DS: This is really a fun game. It's a lot more like the N64 Mario Kart, and that works for me, as I think it was, in some ways, better than Double Dash. Not to mention that you can do battle against CPUs, and you can do missions and stuff. And they have courses from older games. It's really fun. (although it took a while to figure out how to do rocket starts.) I'd say 10/10.

Sonic Rush: This is great as well. Very fun. I love how it uses both screens and things. While the bosses are rather repetitive, (jump on it after it attacks and misses) most of the game is quite fun. There are some fairly difficult levels, such as Altitude Limit. Blaze is a cool and interesting character. Very fast, also. (naturally) It's interesting how the sprites and background are 3-D-ish, but it plays like the older games. A must for any Sonic fan. I'd say 9.5/10.

Lunar Dragon Song: I don't think I've ever heard anyone mention this game here. It's a fun little RPG game, kind of like a cross between Final Fantasy and ToS. It was confusing at first, but once I figured out some stuff, it got better for me. (Because once I figured out how to switch between Combat and Virtue modes, I could actually level up my characters. XD) I haven't gotten very far yet, but I like it so far. (It fails at puzzles, though. I mean, that thing at Delrich Temple with the four dragon statues was so easy!) I'd reccomend it to anyone who likes fantasy RPGs. I give it an 8.5/10

I plan to get Animal Crossing: Wild World, possibly Nintendogs, Kirby Canvas Curse, that Final Fantasy 3 remake thing when it comes out, possibly Lost in Blue, and, of course, Diamond or Pearl when they come out. Originally, I wanted to get Pokemon Dash, but I've played it some, and it's really crappy. Ridiculously easy at some parts, stupidly hard at others, and overall idiotic.

WTF... Kirby only got 4/5. And he's supposed to add games to the list just because Xplay likes them? Pfft...

A lot of games on your list like Sonic, Pokemon Dash, Warioware, and Asphalt Urban GT aren't must-haves. They are love or hate, like Pac 'n Roll, which I LOVED, and so did IGN. But as much as one person loves a game, it isn't a must-have unless everyone likes it.

Hopefully there will be plenty of more games to add to that list in the future. Hopefully: Pokemon D/P, Tales of the Tempest, ASH, etc.

Animal Crossing WW is an excellent game. Though it is slow, it still has enough to keep you occupied for several hours.

Did you pay attention to what it says "A game every DS owner must have or should atleast give a try.

Sonic is a really awesome game - alot of people seem to like it and even if you don't like it you should give it a try atleast.

I'm adding games to my own list that I have played. The point of this topic is for everyone to write their own little review on games they own/played that they think are games others should own/give a try.

WOW. I have only a couple of games up there. :D I think The Urbz: Sims in the City should really be up there. It is an awesome game. I also like Asphalt: Urban GT.

I'll add a few then I guess

Super Mario 64 DS: If you played the original Super Mario 64 and miss it, you should get it for nostalgia. If you haven't and wanted to, you should definitely get it.

Pac 'n Roll: I personally loved this game. Only Castlevania and Mario Kart topped this for me. It plays a lot like Super Monkey Ball, except without gravity playing such a big role. You use the stylus to roll Pac-man like a trackball. If you're like me, and didn't like quite a few of the higher rated games, rent it from Gamefly, borrow it from a friend, or wait for the price to drop. This game is great fun.

Ridge Racer DS: Another great game that only I seem to like. It is awesome with the innovative use of the touchscreen as a steering wheel. Play the game any other way, and it's just an ordinary racer. The only problem is that the collision system is literally broken. Crash into a CPU, whether they rear end you or you rear end them, you come to a complete stop and they are unaffected.

Yoshi Touch and Go: More of a reflex/brain game. It's not the adventure everyone was expected, which is why it's at the bottom of most people's list. Your hand and brain's speed, coordination, and precision is tested greatly.

Lost in Blue: An adventure game that doesn't involve a chosen, a destiny, or a quest. Just an outdoors game in which you have to use your instincts to survive and uncover the secret of the island you land on. The biggest flaw, and probably the thing which hurt the game for me, is that your energy stat drops too quickly. You get less than five minutes a day of running, and are forced to walk if it runs out, or if you don't want it to run out. Also, some of the stuff you're required to do can seem like chores at times.

Yu-Gi-Oh: Nightmare Troubadour: One of the best strategy ever. If you like the card game at all, there's no reason not to get this game. You don't even have to like the anime. Personally, I wanted more of a plot, but I guess it wasn't needed. The only downside is that it can seem like a chore organizing a deck that isn't cutting it.

Hmm... I don't know why I bothered to type all that. Everyone here is pretty much a Gamespot/IGN/Game Informer/EGM worshipper, and will ignore all of this because of their more important decisions.

I definately wanna give Trauma Center, Lost in Blue, and Lunar a try. My brother has Mario64 DS already- and also Mario Kart DS & Sonic Rush - I dont need another game he has (plus I own the game for N64)

I'll add two:

Bomberman (sure, shoot me)
this game's alright. It's got a semidecent length story mode, and an 8 player Battle mode that you can play on your own as well. It's major flaw, is definately the Story Mode. It's too short, yet is addictive enough to pull you back in countless times. and the final boss looks like a Claydol. Seriously.

Rayman DS
one of my lesser played games. This Game isn't as good as many others (SM64, and so on) yet it uses the 3d-ness well, but at times the Graphics are completly horrible. only get it if you are a hardcore Rayman fan.

Games for the future... Megaman BN5 Double Team, Metroid Hunters, Super Princess Peach (coughs)... depends.

Quackerdrill

say yes to love
Seems like you guys are pretty right... let's see...

The Obvious

Mario Kart DS: The best handheld racing game I have ever played; fun, accessible, and great for short periods of time or marathon runs. Not to mention WiFi!

Animal Crossing: Wild World: If you've played the original, you know what to expect- just expect a ton more stuff! Great new features and portability make this game what the GCN version should have been.

Meteos: Possibly the best puzzle game next to Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack/Pokemon Puzzle League/Puzzle League. *pant pant* Great replay value, tons of extras, great difficulty balance, and addictive gameplay. A perfect fit for the DS.

The Not-So Obvious:

Metroid Prime: Pinball
: Where is this on you guys' lists? A interesting title that meshes the worlds of Metriod and pinball, complete with bonuses, bombs, missles and the lot. Very good table physics and awesome references to the series (like the Omega Pirate as a boss... >_<;) make this a great choice for pinball wizards and bounty hunter wannabes alike.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Once again, you guys are missing out! This is an underrated little gem from Japan that puts you in the shoes of a lawyer who must defend others- heck, even himself- in court using his supreme... lawyer... ness. With some interesting plot lines for the cases and the pure fun of yelling "Objection!" at your DS, it's at least worth a rental.

...And who said that the reviews on XPlay matter? I just watch for laughs. XD Great reviews? You can find them elsewhere.

Aren't you gonna put our reviews on the main post?

Super Mario 64 DS

SM64DS is one of the games which is a brilliant remake. The graphics are sharper, the sound is better, there's more of a story, there's extra characters, extra stars and extra things to do. Mini-games have been added into the game to make it better than the original, and most of them are addictive. There's cool places in the games, including the mirror room where you find Snowman's Land, Lethal Lava Land, and Big Boo's haunt. Bosses such as Chief Chilly, Big Bomb-ob (sp?) and Big Boo make it harder to complete, which is a good thing. One new thing you may notice is the fact that rabbits have been added. Each character can find around 9 of these each, and you get keys which you can use to play mini-games. They can be found in easy places such as outside the front of the castle, but they can be in hard-to-find places too, such as small alcoves and even on the roof of the castle! Why are some of them shining, you ask? When you catch 8 of these, you get the key to a secret room with a star in. Things like this make the game harder and better. Each character also have it's own special ability, such as Mario being able to wall-jump and Luigi having brilliant jumps.

Good Points:

::Longer, Harder and more to do
::More characters
::More places to explore
::Looks and sounds better
::Each character has special abilities
::Great 2 Player mode

Bad Points:

::After a while, there's not much to do

Overall:

9/10, A brilliant game which will keep you entertained for ages, and 2 player is good.

Just behind RE4 and Guitar Hero as my best game of last year, essentially think of Dance Dance Revolution on the DS, with more advanced gameplay thanks to the touch screen and some funky J-Pop.

After playing someone elses copy for 5 minutes I was forced to go and register for play-asia just to import this game, after 2 or three days of constant play I was forced to order another import.. the soundtrack. It outdoes the Donkey Konga soundtrack (Jap version, they ruined the english version) by far. I can't read Japanese but the comic strip-esque presentation of the backstory, like the whole game itself is easy to understand, but weird and in one case disturbing. The game is no pushover either, one of the opening levels had me stabbing at my leg with frustration.

It's one of those rare games that still has massive replay value even after mastering a level 10 times, the one thing I miss is a difficulty setting (There may be an option for this but I've stumbled around randomly prodding at my DS trying to find it for long enough).

Even though I know the microphone doesn't do much I still feel compelled to shout "Ouendaaan" (even when I'm not playing it) which I've been told is more annoying than me calling (Yelling) at my Nintendog

I've never played a single game in Japanese (unless you count Pokemon on my computer, lol)

yeah, I wanna try Phoenix Wright, and that new cooking game xD

I also cant wait for Pokemon Trozei, Mysterious Dungeon, Ranger, and D/P.

Looks like this topic is taking off!
