I know ds can play GBA games but can it play gaames like pokemon yellow??

Hello! :3
It can't play GB games nor GBC games. Those games needed some "battery life" thing (or some of the sort), and also the GB/GBC.

And putting the NDS that thing would make it more exspensive. So Nintendo decided to not to put it.

Macho man!
no,but if it did it wouldnt matter to a lot of people because the graphics on those games are a little boring after awhile-_-;

actually the only thing stoppin a ds from playin a game like that is a piece of plastic in the advance slot, not unlike the one in a gba/sp that tells it weather or not its a gba game, [SPOIL]ya, ive had my sp and advance apart, and ive also tinkered with a gamecube[/SPOIL], except it cant be pushed down, its molded into the ds, theoretically, if this was broken off the ds could play normal gb games like pokemon red/blue/silver, tetris, super mario land, zelda dx, and other classics, because it has the chip from the gba in it, which has the chip from gbc in it, but why its there i do not know, probably a nintendo money makin scheme?

That's annoying... I always thought it was a software issue. Perhaps I oughta 'modify' my normal DS when I get the DS lite.

The GBA had a seperate GB chip which the DS doesn't have, there was also something to do with an increased voltage switch that the DS doesn't have but the GBA did. So GB and GBC games wouldn't work, it would be more publicised if it did

They should make some sort of software that you put in the GBA slot and lets you play GBcolor games and GB games.

whew, glad my friend refused to listen to me, and doesnt the ds run on the same bettery as the sp, if not, a stronger one? and when i had my [SPOIL]gba and gbc apart[/SPOIL] there was only one peice of the chip the size to fit in a gba with its current 32bit chip, but there was nothing like it in the gba, so i assumed it was into the advances programming

even if it worked good luck, i spent the better part of 3 months tryin to find a proper screwdriver for my gba, i eventually made one out of a tech deck screwdriver

Good point. The graphics were all that those games were good for.

It's is a more powerful battery but a change in voltage is required for GB games, the DS can't tell the difference between GB and GBA game because it lacks the mechanism the GBA had

Yep - I believe the DS is lacking a Z80 processor or something along those lines.

Besides, how would they still be able to shift GBA SPs if the DS did everything and more. ;)

Plus GBC's long gone now. I guess they didn't support it because it wasn't profitable. They could sell the DS cheaper if they took out an unecessary feature.

GBA/GBA SP had GBC support because it overlapped - hell, GBC titles were still trickling through well into the GC's life.

I'm betting DS2 or whatever probably won't support GBA. :(

you mean the ds lite, oh well, i'm still getting a ds lite i use my gba so for my crystal
He meant the next generation, not the Lite which supports GBA games.

They could emulate the GBA's processor on the "DS2's" processor if it was powerful enough
