With the DS, you have the entire GBA and DS library at your hands which you could use to play. With the Wii, you have not only can play GameCube games and Wii games, but you can also download NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64 and Turbo Grafix titles.

It's your call.

As for DS VS. PSP. DS, it has new controlls that are one reason Nintendo is going strong again and of course a nice selection of games from DS and GBA.

As for DS VS. Wii. Wii, you're just going to have more fun, with the control features from swinging a baseball bat to aiming a gun. It also has a nice selection not just from 7 previous consoles but also with 30 games as launch titles.

First off, DS Lite has a very large selection of games. It even has the entire library of GBA games at its disposal(someone already said that...). Now, add that with great control, great games, best backlit screen and nice visuals+gameplay you've got yourself a great handheld. Not to mention some games are Wi-Fi, meaning you can go online for certain games.

PSP, well is mostly a media centre. Not the best, but it does have some games to go by. Kinda like a portable PS2 really. And if you dont like the PS2, you wont like the PSP. PSP isnt doing very well either, as it doesnt have a large selection of games to go by.

Well that's my ten cents there.

THE PSP HAS DJMAX PORTABLE, THE PSP HAS DJMAX PORTABLE, THE PSP HAS DJMAX PORTABLE! :O

That game in itself is a reason to buy a PSP.

(I have a DS and a PSP anyway, and I'm getting a lite for Xmas, and a Wii for Xmas as well, so... yeah.)

You aren't going to get any kind of real overall opinion on a board that's dedicated to fans of a nintendo fanboard.

However, I'll give you a quick rundown.

In terms of game quality, the general consensus is that the DS has a larger number of quality games, and the access to the GBA games is a big plus. However, the PSP can do a large number of things that the GBA can't do. Media Player (music, photo, and movie), and it does have more games suited for a "Mature" audience.

I'm partial to the DS, because I am a Nintendo supporter at heart, and I like the fold down design that keeps the screen from being scratched, and I'd rather play Animal Crossing and Mario Kart than GTA3 knock off, but choosing your handheld platform in this case is really about what do you want your handheld to do.

I sad to say... but in games... it clearly loses.

It's actually clearly a matter of preference. Though I got a DS, most of the games that I want are on the PSP (Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, Gurumin, Jeanne D'Arc, etc.). The DS is indeed more versatile in the game library, but the PSP has more utility features that interest people more easily than the DS. At least, that's what the consensus is where I live (PSP is FAR more popular than DS here).

DS Lite, hands down. It has the largest library of quality games, much better battery life & back light, cheaper hardware and games, Wi-Fi, great warranty, etc. If you really want some of the PSP's media features, you can buy add-ons for surfing the internet and playing video and music.

As for games, it really depends on your taste.

So, you're saying he should shell out $200+ just for one game? Real great logic here.

In the end, the DS completely dominates over the PSP. As has been said, it has a huge library of games, where the PSP's is rather small. The PSP may be better for watching movies or listening to music, but the DS is better for games. And if you look on eBay, you can actually find an adapter where you can download movies, television shows, and mp3's on a flash card and play it on your DS, so for the same price as a PSP, you can have a large selection of games, plus a media player.

PSP's target audience is at more mature audiences, while DS has a variety of functions and games suitable for all types of audiences. It really depends. PSP acts as a media player, has better graphics and such. DS prides itself with its dual-screen, touch screen, battery life, usage of WiFi, variety of games and pretty much no loading time. It depends on your tastes, as others say.

My personal opinion: DS Lite.

"Completely dominates" is an overstatement. It depends on the locations you're looking from. For example, here in Hong Kong, the PSP is far more popular than the DS, and the games that are sold here for PSP are pretty awesome, in my opinion they narrowly beat out some of the games of DS. Of course, I'm a huge RPG buff so that'd be being biased, but anyway, PSP sells here far better than DS. Therefore, your point is moot
