Nintendo DS Lite

OtterPops

Mareep!
I was wondering when the Nintendo DS Lite will come out. In some websites, they say around late May/early June, but in others its July-September. Does anyone know the true release date of the DS Lite?

Also, how much better is it from the normal DS. I do not have the DS but they say it is smaller. Does this mean the screen size is smaller, too?

No official release date yet. Originally it was speculated for a release along side 'New Super Mario Brothers' but the game has since been delayed and the DS Lite sold out in Japan. At a guess it should be around mid summer

The main enchantments are multiple light intensities and a smaller unit.
The screen size is the same so nothing to worry about.

How much better it is depends on your opinions. I'd say it's better in size, because my current DS sticks out like a sore thumb. However, trying to get used to the new button placement will be like dropping a bad habit for me.

Time will tell.
The DS Lite should come out in fall, Novemberish, from what I hear. I dunno, importing is an option to many, but many are restriced in the amount of money they wish to pay. Importing one could cost up to 400$, if your lucky, you might get a 225$ price tag. The actual price--I believe its about 199$. Looks really nice though. It also has a brighter screen, the screen is the same size. The buttons are about the same. Its the thickness they reduced, not the width.

I hope it's released as soon as possible. I put off buying a DS as I had a sneaking suspiscion that Nintendo would do this. Boy am I glad now. :)

er... you waited so you could pay more moeny for a slightly smaller version that has the microphone moved and some extra screen brightness settings? Well, it's your money...

Meh.

I don't think the original DS is that big anyway. Besides, I just got my DS. I'm not buying another one just because it's smaller---smaller isn't always better.

But I do like the look of it. o_o

I don't know the release date but, I know the features.

Smaller.

Lighter.

Brighter screens that are the same size as the original DS.

Four brightness settings.

Better battery that provides twice the battery life of the original DS if you adjust the screen brightness to be the same as the Original DS.

Quicker charge time for the battery. It takes three hours instead of four to charge it.

Better screen design. Some people complained about dust getting into the screens, this has been fixed.

Redesigned stylus that is longer and slightly thicker.

Redesigned shape. If you ever play MKDS or MPH you'll notice the sides of the original DS stick into your hands.

I'm definitely getting the DS Lite. I've had my DS ever since launch day and I have the "dust problem" mentioned by Shiny Marowak and the "paint" is rubbed off in some places. It's not too bad, but I want a better system that will also look cool. I usually don't buy the advanced systems like the SP and micro, but this is one exception. Plus the DS lite has the same style as the Revolution so that will be cool!

As far as the release date goes, from what I've heard, it was supposed to come out in May but it might be June now. Nintendo wouldn't wait until the Revolution's release to release a new DS. That would hurt sales (most people would only buy one at a time) basically the logical assumption is that it'll come out soon or at least before the end of the summer.

Have you checked Lik-Sang.com - it's only $200 there.
However, since I don't want to pay like an extra $70 for one I'll just wait for a US Release date. But I might intend to buy Jump Superstars ;)

the release date is May 15th, but it cannot be pre-ordered yet...the colors are iPod'ish crystal blue, enamel blue (navyish*), and white...i personally would LOVE a black but i doubt that won't come out for at least 6 months because it took 8 with the first ds..and nintendo just loves to re-release the same product...so i'm getting white (i don't like scratches)

ps. it should cost $130...i hope this is helpful and it was taken from this months GameInformer and Ign

Sorry to burst your bubble, the the May 15th release still remains a rumor, hence why no preorders have been taken yet. Also, we have no idea whether or not the U.S. will debut the same colors as in Japan. We may only get white, we may get completely different colors.
