Nintendo selling revolution development kits cheaper

According to the source here nintendo is selling the development kits for $2000. I do not know much about this in games industry, but i am guessing that this is cheap. I am pleased that someone is doing this, as it means smaller companies can afford to make games for consoles now. And who knows, one of them could be really good. I think that this is great, and makes my dream of making games a little more possible. I mean, there will be more companies if this is true, and may attrect larger groups of people to games. I just hope tha others follow suit. That way, people can share there ideas with the rest of the world.

Nintendo seem to be intent on rivalling XBox Live's downloadble mini-games, and cheaper dev kits like this will only help attract smaller developers. I'm sure Gaming Steve said on one of his podcasts that the 360's dev kits were $20,000

IGN noted in their podcast that ds is 2,500. PSP is 7,000 and the original Xbox is 20,000. So either it truly costs that much or they are selling it cheap.

No they said the original xbox. I just double checked they make sure to note it was the orignal Xbox. Also even though its cheaper you also have to remember that Nintendo is strict on who they give their dev. kits too.
