I've heard rumors that the price jump was Sega's decision, asking for more money to compensate for the low eShop sales. I honestly don't care much about the expansion pass, but I feel like for just an extra $10, they could have offered N64 games, as well as both Game Boy [Color] and Game Boy Advance games. Even better, they could have thrown a Pokémon Home subscription in for free with the pass. On a sidenote, the Switch (and the other platforms) already has the Sega Genesis Classics, containing 60+ games at a $40 price tag. That game could have been patched with DLC and improvements to input lag or such.
Right now, the service is only good for online play and cloud saving, and what's unfortunate is that we haven't seen any improvement. There are no dedicated servers for online multiplayer games, no voice chat and no messaging. The release schedule for the NES and SNES games is also inconsistent, when they could have settled for 3 games per console per month.
