i have had the game since xmas and i already know a good number of secrets,and i will put a FAQ to answer your questions,and if you have a question,i will gladly answer it and post it on the FAQ.
(NOTE:few of the hints are from dachshund & friends,since that is the only version i have,just ask me if you have a need for a code or hint from the 3 other versions)

Q:3 other versions?
A:yes,there are 4 versions actually. the nintendogs series is exactly like the first generation of the pokemon games,the shiba inu & friends game was only released in japan,and don't fret,the shiba is unlockable in the american versions. of course this is my opinion.
Q:what dogs do you have?
A:well this has nothin to do with the game,but:
1.female beagle named Jamie,good at disc competitions,wears a mario hat.
2.male shih tzu named Ryan(he's named after me),good at ???,wears a luigi hat.
Q:mario hat? luigi hat?
A:these hats are in the game,they can be found while walking your dog,they are worth $20.00 each.
Q:what's a jack russel terrior?
A:the smartest dog in existence.despite its ugliness(my grandma called it ugly,i think it's cool),it can learn extremely quick,this makes it the super dog of the nintendogs series.
Q:how do i get it?
A:while walking,there is a VERY EXTREMELY LOW CHANCE you'll find a jack russel book,after you have picked up the book,you can get the single jack russel terrior at the kennel.
Q:does this game have dalmations?
A:yes,these spotted dogs are unlocked the same way as jack russel terriors:while walking,you might find a fireman hat,after that you can get dalmations at the kennel,the fireman hat is slightly less rare then the jack russel book.

EASTER EGG:EAT A LIGHTBULB
when your dog does a trick,a lightbulb will appear.click and drag this lightbulb to your dog's motuh and he/she will eat it.you can also eat bones that appear below your dog's mouth as well.
