Alright I have been using Norton Antivirus 2004 for the past 3 years now and have been hearing some bad stuff about it. So should I just uninstall the thing and use some other antivirus program? If so, any suggestions on what I should use that is free?

I have been hold one of these are good:
AVG Anti-Virus
AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic

Umm I don't know how much of a help I can be but I've had Norton AntiVirus before and it was nothing good. So I would delete it. I now use AVG Anti-Virus, and ever since i got it, my computer has been running at a better pace then it was when I had Norton.

AVG... yuck... The best virus scan I totally use is Avast! Home Edition which is totally free and works great with Windows Vista. =p

I'll second Avast! We have used it for a number of years. I believe it won the 2006 award for 'best virus protection' in PC magazine. We've caught Trojans and Viruses before they've had a chance to even hit the computer.

They also have a new program that restores your computer files etc, and actually rids viruses, rather than just detecting them. That is in addition to the Access scanner and Virus Recovery Database. It's a standalone program that can be downloaded from the Avast! Website, however you still need the main programmes.

Hope this helps, and for the love of god - get rid of Nortons!

If it ani't broke don't fix it, and if you really would like to switch I would recommend Ad-Aware, teamed up with hi-jack this it can get rid of everything, but Ad-Aware is alright on it's own.

*Cough*

In this case, it is broke. Norton is quite possibly the worst anti virus I've ever used.

Wait, so what's so bad about it?

I would say go with AVG Anti-Virus. I have it and it isn't so bad.

:( It isn't broken, it just came like that...

Norton's only problem is it doesn't know what's good or bad.

I dont use any anti-virus, I think>_<;
my computer works perfectly.
Im so random>_>;

O_O I really, really, really strongly advise you install one. Having no anti-virus is more or less asking to have you computer damaged. Anti-spyware is always good, too.
