DuquÊ?

Too lazy to pick a pic
Okay, what does the hell mean “The episode is set after the first movie, "Pocket Monsters: Mewtwo Strikes Back", and involves protagonists Satoshi and Go arriving on an island in the faraway seas in search of Mew...”

Are they implying the episode happen some time after the first movie? Right, time is a beach in Pokemon, but it’s like say the episode is a little after the first movie (which is finally recognized as canon to the show). What, did Ash just speed run through seven regions in a week after movie one?

The Anime/Special's canon know it all.
It's like they absolutely had no better way to draw attention than to say...that thing that happened over TWENTY YEARS AGO FOR THE AUDIENCE.
No they just used the New movie (Movie 22 ) for Canon now as they probably retcon special /m8 out now (although at the end of M22 for hint of Metwo return special arc ) and they are used faraway island for meet mewtwo from M22 .

Wouldn't put more into it than them just acknowledging that the events of the first movie were taken into account when the episode was written. The summary comes from a press release, so a lot of its readers won't necessarily be inherently familiar with the idea that all the movies are canon to the series. It says "after", not "directly after".

Ah, so he did.. Its been about 19 years since I watched Mewtwo Returns, so please forgive my rusty memory. It is a shame though, since it would have been cool to see them for further continuity..
Maybe Clone Pikachu and Clone Meowth decided to return to him at some point. Those two were the most prominent of the clones in both the movie and special

To be fair, lots of people who do know this fact refuse to acknowledge the movies anyway, at least past a certain point, though which movie they stop at depends on the viewer.

This episode is set after Ash got turned into a Pikachu.
More like few episode after that Satoshi tured into Pikachu as next episode after that one show him back into his human form.

Technically it's that most movies from Gen 1-Gen 4, and the second Mewtwo, are canon (they all have explicit references to things that, at the time, could only have been witnessed in the movie), the Manaphy movie, Hoopa, Keldeo, Arcues, and Zorua movies might be canon (they either have ambiguous references or we've yet to see certain legendaries from the movies to either debunk/confirm canonicity) and the rest aren't canon (Diance movie, no one references having ever seen Xerneas or Carbink in the movie or in the anime. The weird black/white movie, Ash never referenced Zekrom. Magearna movie, Ash never references Magearna in SuMo and Squishy went complete without his other half. The rest are AU's)
