no, he had a personality, just not a silly one.
What personality? Generic nice guy isn't a personality. Everyone ELSE had personalities.

Greninja had the personality of a wet tissue paper and was just a prop for Ash. He actually had one as a Froakie, which was immediately discarded the moment Ash got him. We only knew he was a jerk to every trainer that ever tried to use him, but said attitude didn't stick with Ash's other Pokemon.
He had plenty of personality interacting with the cast and his pokemon.
Interacting doesn't immediately mean personality all the time. He wasn't like Hawlucha, who liked to show off and kept worrying about Noibat even after it evolved. If anything, Greninja (as a Greninja) interacted less to nothing with the others.

The wording of the summary says a Pokemon that Ash knew. I don't know, Ho-oh doesn't really fit that bill because Ash never really interacted with Ho-oh, just sees him flying.

Greninja can probably teleport around with Zygarde's help and it would inspire Ash to start training/traveling again and leave Alola. Because we know Ash doesn't want to leave Alola, but seeing Greninja may make him go back into XY mode.

This really doesn't make much sense.

Greninja isn't that important. If Pikachu can't "inspire" Ash to start traveling again, then Greninja sure as hell isn't. It is Ho-oh, since every time it shows up it inspires Ash to start the next phase of his journey. Besides, Ash is supposed to contrast Go, who saw a legendary Pokemon as a child (Mew), which inspired him to want to catch it and all the other Pokemon. Greninja inspiring Ash doesn't work as well as Ho-oh being the one given what we know about Ash and Go in the next series.

Greninja was silent and aloof like a ninja frog that it was supposed to be.
If he was aloof, then the Bond Phenomenon shouldn't even work. He also wasn't like a ninja, due to never being sneaky. He only capitalized on speed and shurikens (and basically taking stuff from Naruto; who may as well be the person who made ninjas to people who never saw a ninja before).

It's a shame everyone started calling Nebby "Solgaleo" after it evolved

Your pokémon's nicknames don't disappear after they evolve, and teenagers are still Annoying Brats once they evolve from children

I think the Solgaleo and Lunala who showed up during the Necrozma Arc were the pair that gave Lillie Ash Nebby in the first place, and Solgaleo's (incredibly short-lived) affection (that never came up again) was it thanking him for looking after their kid

So we really never did it the psychic, fairy and poison z-moves then :((

So far, no we haven't seen those Z-moves yet unless they appear in episode 145, 146 or the special somehow. Although given that the next series is going to be having Ash go through all the regions again there is a possibility that we could see the remaining Z-moves in the next series.
