November 4th: SM95 - Wela Volcano: The Golone, the Golonya and the Hikers!

So I guess this is pretty much the end of all speculation of Chargabag evolving blah blah blah, it doesn't share a VA with concievably anyone who could plausibly appear in this episode, not to mention it's nowhere to be seen in this preview. It seems more like that Alolan Marowak and Sophocles' Ride Metang would have a more important and active involvement in this episode, battling against the seemingly agitated Alolan Golem evolutionary line.

The episode definitely seems to be decently full of action from the preview, but......seriously writers. Wasting an Ultra Guardian episode on one where none of the remaining 3 UBs does debut, and where merely sonething meh like Alolan Graveller debuts, and not even something important like Chargabug's evolution happens. Which means an Ultra Guardian episode without an UB. Yeah that's ridiculous. Which means that nothing significant to the plot is gonna happen in this episode, meaning that it's pretty much the 5th filler in a row. Yeah, that says something for sure.

I'm fine with the ride Pokemon getting spotlight, shining and all, but that should happen in an UG episode where an UB appears, not something random like Alolan Graveller debuting. UG group were created being meant for UB's, so why waste them on something meh like Alolan Golem line's appearance. That defies logic in my book.

Also, how do you really justify having 5 freaking fillers in a row???

I dont get this issue with chargabug, i would say chargabug got way better treatment than luxray, mudkip and some other pokemon of third wheel characters so i think it is treated way better than we all thought, it is used as a partner for sophocles in his every inventions. As for it evolving i dont see the need of it evolving unless sophocles starts building a flyig saucer or an electric aeroplane and vikvavolt is needed to powerit since it can fly as well.

That is true, in fact I'd probably advise a proper limelight episode for Popplio and Tsareena before Charjabug since they're struggling more in terms of personality and relevance. I guess it's just the ideal opportunity to give a more humbly used character some development. This looks like it's filler, but filler can still be good if it's an opportunity for the cast to shine in ways they can't in main stories (this is my issue with the recent couple of fillers, while they're better than most COTD/TR formula ones, they're mostly just random stuff that don't make much noteworthy involvement of any of the cast, though maybe I'm just spoiled from SM's earlier more character driven fillers).

Truthfully I'd love a UG episode where Sophocles actually used one of his Charjabug mechs to help out.

Wait...so it doesn't look like Charjabug is evolving then people are saying? That's...a bit disappointing to be honest...oh well maybe next time...if there is another chance for it next time at this rate though...but i guess (as i was worried about in an earlier post), at least Sophocles doesn't seem like he'll just be handed a Vikavolt, just for the sake of showing it off and it doing even less than Charjabug after evolving (Edit: I forgot about Totem Vikavolt-maybe it could show here instead?)

Also where are any of the other Ultra Beasts that haven't debuted yet? In the preview i was wondering, what was the item that the people dug up? (About 8 seconds in, it's brown with yellow lines in)

Maybe something still appears somehow, not sure what to think right now >.<;;

Either way at least Alolan Graveler properly debuts here (where said Pokemon appears for more than a screenshot, a few seconds or something), something at least ^^;

If there was going to be, we'd know about it by now. This episode looks too packed with other stuff to reasonably have one appear.

And as shown in the shrinking episode, nothing's stopping them from going in uniform for other stuff.

Concerning Sophocles' team I admit there is a bit of wasted potential in terms of the abilities they could gain. I like the brains and brawn dynamic Ash has with some of the classmates, and I think Sophocles, despite being an Electric specialist, could still work without being outshone by Pikachu if they had developed on his team having a good set of practical abilities that could work hand in hand with his raw power (much in the same way Torracat avoids obsoleting Kiawe's very different Fire types as it develops). However, while this does happen in SOME regards, it's cut down by the fact that his team have been utterly stagnant, while Pikachu has ironically become more strategic and versatile from getting Electro Web.

I can't quite begrudge Pikachu getting Electro Web for example since it's an oddly beneficial move, but I feel like it would have worked better to give it to Charjabug as a signature move with Pikachu maybe learning one of the Let's Go attacks instead. There's also other attacks like Electric Terrain or the pretty obvious Charge, cool status moves that would have been beneficial in many situations and complimented Sophocles' weaker but more intellectual personality. They do get by on their quirks and species' traits so they're not redundant, but it still it feels like they could have expanded on this more, especially if it gave Sophocles more development screentime.

They've already seen Alolan Golem from the Battle Royales so it's weird for one to consider that one of them is an Ultra Beast. But if they threw Beast Balls at the Alolan Golem...

And then cue the complaints about all the boys having 3+ Pokemon while the girls still only have one each.

I would be interested in how Graveller or Golem would work in the dynamic of Sophocles' team however, the thing is freaking huge to have in a standard domestic home, and the guy doesn't really have a powerhouse besides his Ride Metang. Even if it just ends up comic relief there's tons of hilarious potential there.

I'm don't know why most here are writing off the possible of Charjabug evolving when Dephender has made it clear why it wasn't listed in the cast list.

Wouldn't be surprised since a similar thing has been done with Ash's Pikachu even though Pikachu's VA is still alive. I haven't heard Charjabug's voice in a while so it'll be a good refresher at least for a while.

So Charjabug isn't evolving. That's fine, I suppose. It has its uses to Sophocles, who again isn't much of a battler. I also don't think he'd catch an Alolan Golem, because it seems like his team is more practical for inventing, not battling. Not sure where the Geodude line would fit in with his hobbies and lifestyle.

Maybe the writers just expanding the role of the UGs with this episode? If so, I think that's pretty cool. Should they show the final three UBs? Absolutely. Can they do both? Indeed.

At the very least, even if nothing substantive happens, this still looks like an entertaining filler.

I still wouldn’t put it passed the writers to sneak an evo in this episode still. That’s what they seem to be best at in sm!

Also to note that it is metang that is fighting... which is soph’s ride Pokemon so we could still get a nice sophy surprise!!!

At least it's good that the Ride Pokémon will get some spotlight here. But I would like to see some of his Pokémon battle too. I haven't seen them battle for a really long time.

It's a 'bro' episode, if it's anything like the Charjabug episode, it'll hopefully be awesome since the three guys have a lot of chemistry.

I am wondering when the girl trio might get an episode. Lana and Lillie don't really interact much and even Lana and Mallow was only really prevalent in the flashback episode.
