Dragonite and ...fish will shine against raihan.
Gengar will shine against another trainer. I am not so sure about sabrina returning as Ash just fought against another psychic trainer to get mega stone.

Personally, i think they should bring back fire, water, rock, poison, ice specialists and let ash use his reserves. Right now we have 2 electric, 2 dragon, 2 fighting and it is getting boring

Pikachu would be an easy fall guy here cause they can still make it look good by putting up a fight against Gmax Machamp, and if Lucario beats Grapploct as well using Pikachu to soften Machamp up a bit makes Lucario's double win more believable.
Idk about Pikachu being the fall guy.

Ash will use three Pokémon.
What he's using.
New Pokémon from Mega Island, Gengar/Dragonite, Dracovish or Lucario.

I would love it if Iris fought Raihan and defeat him and then she would lose to Ash.

But yeah, we need diversity. There are many notable options.

Ash doesn't have his dynamax band in the preview though, so unless he has it in his pocket, odds are he's not using Gigantamax because he wants an actual challenge

Can we please get the older, old forum back?
The PWC changes the concept of Regional Champions/ Elite Four Tier Trainers in terms of power scaling.

If you power scale based on a previous series, Ash's Dragonite yet alone his Dracovish have no business defeating Pokemon Owned by a Regional Champion. We see Paul, a trainer just as competent as Ash if not more, get absolutely crushed by Cynthia and he used his Torterra which was far more experienced and trained (Competed in the Kanto, Johto & Hoenn League before), versus Ash's Dragonite & Dracovish which hasn't even battled.

This simply means that being Regional Champion/ Elite four doesn't really mean as much at the moment. What holds more weight currently, is the person's PWC Rank.
The Master Class (Top 8) would be similar to what a Regional Champion used to be like before (With the exception of Leon who you could consider a cut above). The High Hyper Class ranks would seem more relative to Elite Four.

So if Bea is ranked 10-20/ That already scales her to be far more impressive and stronger versus Iris.

Except that Powerscaling in animé has always been a bad way to look at the narrative.

Are you really going to say Bea > Entirety of Unova? Also if Ash was rank 10 and just caught a Pokémon, nobody would assume it would be strong enough to take out a Champions Pokémon, regardless of rank.

Meaning you're not looking at context. Ash fought her dragons with his dragons. That's a super-effective, but I doubt he could win with most of his other types.

You're also not looking at examples like Gible vs. Dusknoir or Totodile vs. Kingdra, where there are clear strength differences, but the animé throws a curveball.

King of heroes
Torkoal vs G-Max Charizard ofc. Not even whatevermax Torkoal, just base Torkoal.
Too based for this website

1) Depending on Bea's rank, I don't see why not. The PWC is an event that seems to be far grander versus a Traditional Pokemon Regional League. Considering the fact that we have big wigs like Cynthia & Lance competing, essentially the strongest trainers from the world.
Imagine taking part in a National Competition and then moving on to an International Level. Someone can rank first at a national Level and Finish Top 50 at an International Level. If Bea is a high rank in the PWC, she could definitely be > than whole of Unova.

2) Type advantages don't mean squat in the anime. Sure battles are dictated by Plot but Trainer Skill and experience always plays a much bigger role. Ash has won multiple battle using Pokemon with Type disadvantages.
Same goes for evolutions. Yes while they come with a boost in power, it doesn't necessarily mean pre-evolutions can't beat Final evolutions from an anime perspective.

While the anime has never really been accurate with powerscaling, they have always been consistent with the fact that there was always a Substantial Gap between the Elite Four/ Regional Champions & Ash. We've seen Ash challenge the Elite four Multiple times and get absolutely clobbered. The only time we really see Ash even coming close to somewhat of a level to Put up a Serious Fight against an Elite four Tier/Regional Champion trainer, is in Kalos with Ash Greninja based off his performance against Alain and practice match with Diantha.

However, considering the fact that Journey's is ultimately pushing Ash towards battling someone who is cut above all Regional Champions/Elite Four member's we've seen so far, it only makes sense to scale Ash upwards accordingly. If Iris who was much Inferior to one of the Worst Iterations of Ash, can advance up to a level relative to Sinnoh Cynthia, it's not hard to believe Volkner who was established to be far more experienced and skilled, someone who an Elite four member himself considered to be a Rival at one point, advance to a similar level if not greater.
