DS. Nintendo and Sega did well with handhelds until Sony came and made a blatant copy of a GBA. The PSP is crap, and I hope it crashes in profits quickly.

Again, that's a very typical fanboy reply. The PSP is nothing like the GBA in anyway, it's more of a multimedia unit, rather than a games machine. It can be used as an MP3 player, you can watch tv shows and movies, view pictures, go on the web, etc.

It's a very good handheld, but the problem with it is that it doesn't really have many games worth buying, and the movies have to be bought on UMD format, which just really makes them worthless. Sony are also charging ridiculous amounts of money for it.

The DS however isn't much better. It's way too much of a gimmick. the touch screen doesn't add much to gameplay, and most games don't even bother using it for anything beyond a map. It's just an unneccesairy feature that makes the DS heavier than it needed to be, and difficult to use for extended periods of time. Plus it also has the problem of having very little games worth owning.

Overall, I see the PSP as being more useful, but we'll see how I feel when the DS get's more of it's killer app titles out.

Is this going to be revived every month?

I couldn't really care, it isn't a choice of one or the other, if the PSP actually got some interesting games I wouldn't hesitate to get it, and I can't see the downside of it being multi-functional or having a battery that only lasts 6 hours when Ill play it for a two-hour stint at most.

I hate Sony but I'm not going to ignore a good product, if it does become it.

As for the DS, I know it will have Zelda, Pokemon, Metroid etc so I was never going to ignore it, even if the PSP was much much better. If both consoles are worth the money why should it be a choice of one or the other?

I put psp since it has better graphics and it can play movies and music. Though I have a ds because I like handheld nintendo games better and the its cheaper. I think psp is probably better but it doesnt have cool games.

Nintendowned....wow that's something you don't hear every day. Anyways on my view I really don't like the PSP though because I already have those features. Despite Nintendo's sencond screen they do have real good and fun games out there to play. Especially with all the new RPG's coming out later. Super Mario 64 DS, Advance Wars Duel Stirke, Phoenix Wright, and a lot more are great gmaes to play.

Do you own a PSP? Have you played a PSP? from the sounds of it you haven't even looked at one! and how the hell is it a baltant copy of a GBA please tell me.

Anyway on topic im fed up of people saying the PSP is so crap ( mainly DS fanboys who don't even look at the facts ) o.k so the the battery life don't last as long as the DS wow im not goin to play a game for six hours straight anyway plus you can always buy that battery thing that boost the battery life, and the loading takes a bit long but its worth the wait. The PSP design is miles better than the DS i've taken my DS in the streets no one cares cause it looks ugly then i bring my PSP out and everyone comes rushing over.
Now on to the games 75% of the DS games are baby games ( doesn't mean there bad)and have no better graphics than GBA games why is this i haven't got a clue since the DS has the power of the N64 i thought there will be all nice 3D the only good games for the DS will be the well known's e.g pokemon, mario, zelda etc......the psp however will have tons and tons of good games coming its way hopefully all the good selling games on the PS2 will be on the PSP and there is alot.
So far DS has a big bulky design ( which will change anyway just like the GBA did ) a touch screen, a couple of good games and soon to be online IMO its not a good idea that the wi-fi spots are in McDonalds cause Gamer + online in McDonalds = lots of fat DS owners lol.Now for the PSP has a nice and sexy design which the ladies like aswell,MP3 MP4,DVD's, web surfing,Digital Camera, wi-fi and Tons of good titles on the way so how could anyone say its crap? and Absol the PSP will crashes in profit but not because its crap.
i vote the PSP all the way!

PSP, plays UMD's. GBA, plays carts. PSP, you can watch movies. GBA doesn't. PSP plays music. GBA Doesn't. Yes, I can see how PSP can be a blatant copy of a GBA.....

Anyway, I'm in mixed mind over which handheld is better, at the moment I've had the DS since Feb, and it's appeal has worn off since then. It'll probably pick up when PKMN:MD comes out. PSP at the moment is better for me. (Although I wish the sound on the films were better)

MP3 MP4,DVD's (which is actually wrong, the movies are on UMD format, which does make them a whole lot different than DVDs) web surfing and Digital Camera can be gotten through something else, something that can oftentimes get the job done much better. And it looks good, big freakin' whoop. The Micro looks good but that doesn't mean people are going to want it! IMO the PSP doesn't have many good games on it, while the DS has some pretty good games and more good games to come. My vote is for the DS.

-_- Grow up, people.

none of them win hands-down. It depends on the person, what they like, how much money they're williing to spend and whatnot.

Don't like any of the PSP games. Like many DS games, specially the upcoming ones.
I don't need any of those extra non-game features that the PSP has, but I like the innovtive features of the DS.
The PSP is almost three times more expensive than the DS.
IMO, the DS is better.

And I have something to say to everybody who says Nintendo is "kiddish": Well, IMO, Nintendo games, like Pokémon, Mario, Zelda; are for people who want to enjoy fun games, who likes "happy" and colorful worlds and characters, etc... Just like me.
At the other side, there are people who think that if a game has no blood, it sucks (I'm exagerating, of course). But those are only different opinions, and everyone must respect the others.
Those people who says the other console or the games for that console are aren't good, without knowing them first, are acting in a very immature way.

I don't know why I'm posting here, I should be reading the book for school...

Uh, how can you like a game that's not even out yet o_0

Oh yes, a touch screen is so innovative compared to a:
  • MP3 player
  • Movie player
  • Image library
for a handheld system. >_>

By my count, it's just over 2.

And you wonder why people call Nintendo a 'kiddy' company -___-

I chose the DS because to me, it has faster load times, touch screen, and the battery life is much longer.

First, I love this thread. I especially enjoy when a person makes a fanboyish remark, and is replied to by someone claiming to have a more mature point of view, only to see this attitude break down into the same brand of narrow-minded pseudo-intellectualism halfway through the post. It's awesome.

Personally, I prefer DS. Right now, it's obvious that game developers have more faith in it. Otherwise, we would be seeing Castlevania and Resident Evil on a different handheld. Not for nothing, but I'm not seeing anything on PSP that impresses me.

I have a friend with a PSP. Every time he comes to visit, he brings it along. He's a fanboy, but I tolerate him because he lets me play. I know that he's trying to "convert" me, but every time he visits, he sees my collection grow. He must understand that he'll have a hard time winning me over with just Tony Hawk!

Right now I have 9 DS games, and I'm playing Castlevania on hard mode. I enjoy it. I would have more games, but some of them I haven't opened yet. Right now I have Castlevania, SM64DS, Feel the Magic (overrated, but still enjoyable), Kirby Canvas Curse, Lost in Blue, Trace Memory, and others I can't remember offhand. I'm planning on getting Lunar: Dragon Song, Animal Crossing Wild World, Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario Kart (if only for online), and several others I can't instantly recall.

Right now, I have a lot of DS games, and I'm having difficulty finding time to play them all, so you may understand that it would be impractical for me to buy another handheld right now.

I was most tempted to buy a PSP when it launched, and I'm glad I didn't make the withdrawal from my savings account to do so, I would've been a little disappointed to see that my handheld game machine had turned into a low-end movie player. It's a good thing that multimedia features are there as a diversion, otherwise, PSP wouldn't seem like a good buy at all. To it's credit, things may change. There is plenty of future ahead of it. Who knows, maybe tomorrow Konami or Capcom may announce that one PSP game you've all been waiting for, but it seems unlikely.

Are you reffering to Shadowfax, ~Vyse~ or myself? If you are, then you are sorely mistaken.
