The federal government should have no power over marriage, at all. Hopefully, Obama will repeal Don't Ask, don't Tell, but leave everything else to the states (as it should be).

I stayed up all night watching the votes come in (I live in England). Obamas speech was pretty powerful in terms of rhetoric, and if he backs these things up with actual change then it will go down in history, but to be honest I don't think there is going to be any revolutionary change. Here's hoping that I'll eat my words though

Something really is bugging me. Generally the president of the United States is regarded as the most important person in the entire world. Who elects him/her? I personally thought it was great to see McCain acknowledge Obama in his speech last night; I thought that was very mature and respectful and I acknowledge him for his efforts. I think Obama would have done the same if he had lost the election. I am very happy about the results; both McCain and Obama are good people. I'm still thrilled at the news. Finally, at last.
