As Lumiose City is getting rebuilt, Serena organizes a special Tripokalon performance in order to cheer up the residents that are feeling down because of what happened. And even though Serena is torn on what to do next, the eyes of the people she is making smile through her performance sends her thoughts in a specific direction. And after an unexpected turn of events leads to her having a battle with Ash, she makes a choice.

So serena maybe won't go with palmero but instead keep practicing with shauna. I think that is a good ending, they are good friends and serena will be happy. I'd say braixen evolves but probably not.

My prediction for the battle is that Pikachu is going to win without a doubt. Unless Braixen pulls a DEM and OHKOs Pikachu with Fire Blast.

And I guess that this episode means goodbye Serena. She'll probably stay with Shauna and Ash leaves her behind.

Personally, I prefer that over Palmero. I always feel that if Serena were to be a Kalos Queen, she should do it on her own with friends she can depend upon rather than an old mentor. That's what Ash's friends have done when they leave him. And I don't want Serena trading one mentor for another.

...I believe they only ever skipped such an episode once at the end of DP, but still.

That doesn't mean that they are the last two episodes, because it's not like the Sun and Moon part mentioned the first episode of that series.
