Well it's sorta somewhat playing an important role in this ep in particular and how they just decided to randomly put it on the recent promotional poster which are usually a big deal so I guess that's what made people think that Marshtomp could have a chance including myself. It's the episode format is what really disputes things.
But still, the episode format means nothing as we only had one example before, and you can't assume patterns based on one example.
