• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

God damn, that was something else..

Fellow fans, where would you rank Ash vs Kukui battle historically in the series? How good (or bad) was it compared Ash’s other major battle?

Hopefully Pikachu vs Tapu Koko is just as good as a battle as today’s episode and we end the Pokémon league on an action-packed high

Torracat finally defeats its main rival even though it also fainted shortly after.. What a story, good on it for finally realizing it’s true strength, wasn’t expecting it to evolve but that was a great bonus...

Ash Ketchum, even as the champion of Alola still manages to forget that Poison attacks don’t work on steel type Pokémon.. What a kid!

Naganadel was pretty impressive in its battle against Lucario after starting off slow, whatever training it did back home sure was worth it.. Ultra Beasts are your typical Pokémon strength wise and it showed here..

Wished we could’ve seen Kukui’s last Pokemon come out and then be a bit disappointed because it wasn’t allowed to battle because of Tapu Koko but other than that it was out of this world..

Do you think that we’re ever gonna know what it was or are we gonna be speculating about it till the end of time? Honestly think it was either a Trevenant, Snorlax or some starter Pokémon from another region but whatever

The actual Alola League tournament may have been slightly lackluster apart from his Battle with Gladion, anyways this full battle has made up for the flaws significantly, now to end the exhibition match on a strong note for next week..

Have a feeling that this battle will end in a draw (although unlikely) and everyone will go home feeling great after witnessing the battle of a lifetime in the Alola region..

Honestly Ash might actually beat Kukui and I can’t wait to see that happen!

Ok Ash has to win this. They've been teasing this Pikachu vs Tapu Koko battle since legit episode one, come on Ash, bring it home!!!

Also Pelipper is such a underwhelming pokemon I kind of wanted to see Pikachu fry him lol.

Ash doesn't deserve to win this.

Although considering all the poor decisions the writers have made regarding this match he probably will

One of the worst in the series.

Had potential to be great but a series of poor decisions by the writers ruined it

I think your pettiness is clouding your judgement.

Objectively it was better than quite a few battles in Sun and Moon.

Or do we forget about the fake out with Rowlet against Hau.

Or the beyond stupid of allowing Mudsdale to magically become a water type just so Ash can use electric types against it against Hapu.

Biased, I don't know what battles were actually better than this. This will likely be my favorite full battle of all time. Because I can live with Lycanroc and Pikachu being the hypothetically only ones who don't get a win (if Kukui wins) or just Lycanroc if Pikachu does win it for Ash.

Almighty Zard

He has returned.
Ash will lose this right? Tapu Koko is seen perfectly fine with the rest of the Tapus

that could be after the battle for all we know, the other three could come in and heal it and Pikachu once their done tearing each other apart, and their "performance" is closure to the league.

Wished we could’ve seen Kukui’s last Pokemon come out and then be a bit disappointed because it wasn’t allowed to battle because of Tapu Koko but other than that it was out of this world..

as others have pointed out, it kind of makes sense because where would he get a random ride pelipper so early in the morning way back when after Ash's first grand trial?

though having Tapu-Koko take it's place is a good thing since Pikachu would probably destroy it, and on the positive side it proved Kakui at least did have six pokemon.

Have a feeling that this battle will end in a draw (although unlikely) and everyone will go home feeling great after witnessing the battle of a lifetime in the Alola region..

Wouldn't mind if it did end in a tie personally.

I can't count them since I haven't seen them but of the matches I have seen this is definitely the worst.

And a lot of that is because the writers have made decisions I really dislike.

I really hope pikachu wins this. Everyone else has gotten a win over their rivals this saga and we've seen pikachu take on and win against legendary pokemon before.

Oh, this is my favorite full battle now. It used to be Ash vs Gary for the longest time, but now it's this one, especially with the preview for this episode.

Pikachu is definitely winning. It hasn’t gotten a win against Kukui yet and its weird because Pikachu usually gets a win in battles like these. Also Tapu Kokeko is getting a win as well, so it will go down with a win in its belt.

Yeah, same in that regard.

It admittedly doesn’t have the tactics and brain power I could enjoy in Shinji v. Satoshi but it’s my favorite not only due to the narrative and story behind it being so fulfilling but the fact it seems like the writers really thought it all through. Heck, such an amazing finish and payoff.

Yuugis Black Magician

Namaikina Imouto
Tomioka Atsuhiro is also writing Episode #144. This makes Satoshi v. Kukui the franchise's first four-episode-long battle, luckily written by the franchise's best writer. Iwane Masa'aki confirmed on Twitter that he did key animation for #144, too. Going by the preview Nanba Isao and Aito Oohashi will also be providing key animation. This is pretty nuts. I didn't expect a four-episode battle but hell yeah, bring it on! I've always wanted a six episode battle so that a Pokemon could get a full episode to themselves before fainting.

I get the feeling that the worst-case scenario for Ash in this battle is a draw. However, given that Naganadel is facing off against Tapu Koko first, I get the impression that Ash is probably going to win this one by the skin of his teeth since Tapu Koko will still have a K.O. even if he eventually loses to Pikachu.
