I'm conflicted.

On one hand, I love the idea of a legendary raid battle, it should be very fun to watch.

On the other hand, I don't want Goh to catch Zapdos and stuff a legendary bird in the lab with the rest of the Pokemon. That idea really annoys me. Especially if he doesn't put in a lot of effort in catching it (if it's an easy capture).
THIS is what i mean

Let’s be fair tho, Legendaries have greatly lost their appeal over the years in the anime. The only exceptions are the box Legendaries and “third” Legendaries. The rest are nothing more than rare powerful mons that aren’t even that special like the most obvious being the Bird Trio and has been shown like how some trainers have been seen with Legendaries on their roster.

This is the 6th Zapdos in the anime (7th if we count DP173 and its Zapdos mention)

Goh should colossally fail at catching Zapdos and maybe have a realization that not every capture will be a walk in the park and he's simply nowhere NEAR ready or experienced enough to capture a Pokemon like Zapdos which would put into perspective just how far he has to go to catch Mew.

JUST ANYTHING else but the alternative

This just proves he doesn’t have enough development to catch a legendary. In terms of strength he’s just not that strong enough. Honestly i don’t know why i’m arguing cause he’s probably not going to catch zapdos anyways so yeah
Goh doesn't have to be strong because Legendaries will be part of Raid Battles. He'll just let everyone else do the heavy lifting and they'll let him vulture off their hard work and catch it.

There are no rules about who "deserves" a legendary Pokemon. I'd have no issue with Go catching Zapdos.
If it's in a fanfiction.

Man, this pacing for this series is so horrible when the two leads either almost have a full team of fully evolved Pokemon (+ a lot of Lucario chilling), have legions of Pokemon under their disposal they did not catch with a lot of trouble....and now probably have a freaking Legendary Bird Pokemon providing electricity for the lab. And it's not even 50 episodes in.

Let's be honest. Cerise is making it big with his first ever trainer he's endorsing. No one will top Goh in the ways of amassing Pokemon.

Ok so alot of ppl will attack Zapdos and then Goh throws a pokeball and catch it? Like we had with the really strong and big Golurk? If it will happen - dont complain Im upset with his goal =]

For me it's not about whether Goh deserves Zapdos or not, but more like...every Pokemon Goh catches is put in the lab to rot, and we don't really see them that often. And like sure, if it's a non-legendary Pokemon, it's fine. But reducing a legendary Pokemon like Zapdos to a labmon feels very, I dunno, stupid?

I'd be okay if Goh kept Zapdos as an active member of his team and used it. But if a Pokemon like Zapdos is going to be caught only to never be used again, then I don't want it.

I still feel that Goh's goal is lame... what is catching all kind of pokemons have something to do with Mew anyways?

What is the point of it all? Mere collection? If he actually do that because he want to study all kind of pokemons, that will be okay.

Good luck catching Arceus.

Can people stop to bash on Goh at this point? Not even 1/3 of the series and not even May or Serena that did almost nothing before EP50-60 had this criticism

Nothing. He just got the idea after (at first reluctantly) getting Scorbunny.

Which really is more like an excuse to keep him relevant throughout the series next to Ash. No way they're going to have a third wheel-like character just stand around and idolize Ash every episode while getting a focus episode every blue moon. Had it been just Ash and Sophocles before, it would have been pointless. There's also the fact they can't have Goh be a competent battler in a series where that is far more pronounced than before, which is why he is hardly a battler when catching Pokemon as easy as breathing air (which is also the reason he's never having Raboot using Ember to weaken 95% of his captures a bit).
