Um... I suspect this belongs in another thread that already exists... but I couldn't be sure where >_<
1) No, this doesn't work. Each of the starters is supposed to have a clear advantage over another. In that triangle, each one is both good and bad against both other types. The grass is good against the water but bad because the water's dark type beat's the grass's psychic type... etc. It could work if BOTH types have an advantage against the same other starter, but for that the types need to be reversed somehow.
Fire/Poison > Grass/Dark >> Water/Psychic
OR
Fire/Dark >> Grass/Psychic >> Water/Poison
OR
Fire/Psychic > Grass/Poison > Water/Dark
Those are the only 3 that work using those types. Unless you wanna have a messed up, everything-is-both-weak-and-strong-to-everything triangle. But that's just weird. So I suggest one of the above 3.
2) Ur... fighting bug pokemon... heracross?

Naw, seriously...
Well, scyther was pinsir original counterpart, and their names were both based on some kind of weapon/tool. Pinsir = Pincer, Scyther = Scythe. Scyther, when it evolved, kept the tradition in becoming Scizor = Scissor.
So if you wanna follow in that same idea as it's counterpart, first you need to know what it's weapon is gonna be. If it's still a basic pinsir, just more souped-up, then maybe use a different method to name it. But if it's pincers have been modified into something else - well, describe it and it'll be easier to name.
Stantler -> Moosler. Eh?

Is it a moose though?
A description would help in both cases.
