Offical Misprint Thread

Why is the rum gone?
If there is a thread like this already, please lock/delete this.

Discuss misprints here.

I have the Misprinted Shining Tyranitar, it says "It is so powerful it can knock down a mountain with hust one arm", when it is supposed to say "It is so powerful it can knock down a mountain with just one arm"

This misprint is probably on every card, I'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure I've heard that's on every card. The one on the main site has it, too.

I had a question. Are all Base Set Vulpix cards like this? Mine says HP 50 instead of 50 HP. The one on the main site is like that, but I could have sworn I saw one that wasn't.

I believe all of them are like that. I looked at mine and it's like that, too.

Don't forget to add 1st ed. Blaine's Charizard to the mix. Charizard's second attack includes the symbols for fighting energy to be used instead of fire energy for the 2nd attack.

Ancient Mew's mistake was only on the 1st version of the Japanese Mew card. The US version and 2nd print of the 1st Japanese version do not feature this mistake.

Ooh yeah, and 1st edition jungle Electrode(non holo) because it features a picture of the Base set electrode instead of the Jungle picture.

Dark rapidash from the first rocket set.
I got one that had "Length" but "Weight" wasn't written. It just had the number.

Also, base set Ninetales with no damage written for its 80-damage attack. Can't remember what it was called.

I've got that Diglett with an energy turned sideways, a Jungle Snorlax with no Jungle symbol (making it look like it's from Base Set), and I'm not sure if this is a misprint, but I have a Bagon with a promo symbol, but it's from a set. Can't remember which.

Oh, yes, and I just looked at my Dark Rapidash, and mine's misprinted, too! Except, mine had Weight written, but not Length. Is it only in first-editions, or is it in later printings, too? I think that all of them, or at least a lot, are like that, because the one on the main site is like that.

I didn't see the Rapidash that says "Put Rapidash on Stage 1 card" on the list. Also, on Dark Arbok from the Rocket set on the list either. At the bottom, the copy right year to Nitendo was misprinted, but I can't remember the exact year (I think it was something similar to "Copyright 23000 Nintendo")

Okay.... this is driving me nuts, and I need to know if it's really a misprint or not.

I have the EX Dragon Bagon (common, 50/97) that looks almost completely normal. The only thing different about it is that it has a black star promo symbol where the EX Dragon symbol should be.

I don't think it's a misprint, but I don't know what it is. Could someone help me?

(Everyone who is not quoted and told about misprints is also added to the misprint list)

Those are now added. :)

Hmm... the one on Serebii isn't like that. You should take a picture of it and show us.

I think only the final printing of those cards say 50 HP.

I have a Jungle Vileplume with no Jungle sign and one with a Jungle sign. Hm. . . .

Just as a quick note, Serebii doesn't have scans of all the cards. They're missing several promos, not to mention the plethora of Japanese promos out there.

The Bagon in question is a promo card from a US magazine.

And yes, Ancient Mew, in Japan, was a promotional card given inside a booklet for "Revelation Lugia" in Japan. I believe the booklet cost about 1000 yen($10).

So, that means I got a real promo for fifteen cents. Sweet. Are there any other cards like that, and do you have more information on it? Like, what magazine was it from?

If yours just has the promo star on it, then it is from the EX Dragon promo pack.

If it has a stamp on it, then it could be from Scyre or Inquest magazine as they also had a Bagon promo with a stamp on the card.

It just had the star, and everything else was the same.

I have a Japanese Base Set Squirtle and it has HP 40 instead of 40 HP. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that though because it's the only Japanese card I own.

I read somewhere that the Diglett with the sideways energy symbol goes for around $30. Is this true? Because I have six of them.

Clearly we're great!
I have a Jungle Vaporeon with no Jungle symbol. I think it was a mistake with the whole set in early printings.

EX FRLG has a Snorlax that says orly instead of only due to a printing error cutting off the entire n, apparently. If someone else can confirm it because I'm not entirely sure of it, you could add it to the list.

Here are some misprints that aren't on that list. I just scanned them.

img179.jpg

The two Venusaur's are identical but one of them is slightly darker and "Solarbeam" is in a darker/bolder font. I dont know which is the real Venusaur. (the second one I got from a trade a loooong time ago, thats why it is in bad condition)

The Raichu card number is number 83/82
