I name my starter along with all of the Pokemon that I EV train.

I always name my Riolu "Xeno", and sandile/krokorok/krookodile "Korky" (this one has little story to it).

After doing some nuzlocke runs, I nickname every single one I catch. I give them random "regular" people names, like Victor the Charizard or Evan the Vaporeon. Or in the case of most of my fighting pokes, I name them after popular fighters. ie Manny (Pacquiao) the Hitmonchan GSP (George St. Pierre) the Hitmonlee & Kimbo Slice the Machop.

Generally not, but I will for Nuzlocke's. when I was younger, I'd name them human names that started with the same first letter, like... Well, the only one to come to mind is Richard the Ditto.

Almost always with the pokemon I used in the main party, and my shinies. It kind of gave them a personality and make me like them more.

I once built a team, nicknaming the Pokemon the names of Pokemon in which they were super effective against just to be a jerk. xD

No. I never nickname my Pokemon unless I have a name in mind as soon as I catch it that is REALLY good. Otherwise, I don't know why, but I just prefer not to nickname them.

i usually only nickname some of my EV trained pokemon, assuming i can think of a good nickname. some examples:
haxorus->DESTROY!!(for destroying everything with outrage after dragon dancing)
hydreigon->QBD(stands for queen black dragon, would have nicknamed her KBD if shes male, runescape players can relate)
cloyster->Heavy Arms(heavy arms gundam from gundam wing as my cloyster fire arrays rockblast and icicle spear much like heavy arms gundam firing missles)
conkeldurr->conk conk(sound made by hitting his concrete blocks on the ground)
metagross->Fe bomb(Fe is the chemical symbol of iron in the periodic table, bomb because my metagross can explode)

Well In my soul silver and white 2 run i nicknamed all my pokemon, all the names were standard like Frank the Feraligatr, Chomper the Pinsir and Benedick the Arcanine but there was one odd one which is also my favorite Badhouse the Magnezone, I also have an El Naso Probopass from my diamond days, I call my HM slaves who can fly courier-original huh?-and other ones Romney's Wife.

Usually simple single-word things like "Rain" for Samurott and "Shadow" for Reuniclus that describe the general nature of that Pokemon. Occasionally, I do carried away and use a Greek gods theme like "Ares" for Emboar and "Poseidon" for Jellicent. Well, nicknames do help you personalise your own critters - wish in-game trainers would too.

Always. Keeping their original names seems bland to me. Like for example my Unova Trick Room Team is Gummybear the Reuniclus, Moose the Amoongus, Graves the Cofagrigus, Gawain the Druddigon and Shipfate the Jellicent. I also nicknamed a pokemon Duck Zang after the character from the second book in the gone series(which I love-I own the latest one- Fear) hunger which was a Dunsparce. My shiny male Altaria is also called Daniel after Daniel from the Fallen Series. =) Also as soon as I get to Castelia in White 2 I'll be calling my Shiny Servine Asmodeus(anybody who gets this reference is super awesome).

It's after Duck Zhang from the 'GONE' series by Michael Grant. Duck is a boy who is nicknamed the Human Drill because he can control his own density, allowing him to sink through the ground (or float away, but that's less relevant.)

It will be in-appropriate but Dicklett for Diglett, and changed it to Dicktrio when it evolved. I watch too much Haydunn....wanted a friend for his Dickpinch.
