Life sucks, man.
Welcome to the Asperger's Syndrome Alliance! ~Approved by PsiUmbreon (who else?)~
This club serves the following purposes:

1. For those of us with Asperger's to discuss how it affects us and how we can help each other in everyday social situations.

2. For those without it to gain information on it and how to help those of us with it.

3. For us to just stand up and say, "I have Asperger's Syndrome and I'm not ashamed of it!" And, if you are ashamed, to help gain some confidence: you're not alone, believe me!

Why did I start this club? Well, I discovered, to my surprise, that no one else had made a thread or club for this and, if you search for Asperger's on these forums, you get surprisingly few results! I knew I had to do something about it. Imagine, to my surprise, that by simply creating a Misc. Discussion thread on it, I'd get a whopping 672 hits and 59 replies on the topic! It's sad how no one did this before!

So, here are the rules for joining: you must either

A. Have Asperger's or something VERY closely related (ADD, no; Dyspraxia, PDD-NOS, etc., yes)
B. Personally know someone (relative, friend, teacher, etc.) with Asperger's and be interested enough in it/them to want to help those of us with it.

You must list one of these requirements when you ask for membership, or it will be asked of you and delay your approval.

VIOLATIONS

You: I know Bill Gates/Jerry Newport/other celebrity has it, can I join?
Me: Do you know them personally? No.

You: Never heard of Asperger's. Can I join?
Me: Are you serious? Do your research, meet some people, and then come back to me.

EXCEPTIONS

You: I know MetalMario/Diljabar/etc. :) has it, can I join?
Me: If this person can vouch for your personal friendship, yes.

You: There's a kid in my class/job/etc. who has it. Can I join so I can help him/her out?
Me: Sure, that's an acceptable reason.

Hello.

I'm one of those in the Misc. thread on the syndrome. Even though I'm not sure if I may or may not have it basing from current diagnoses, alright if I join?

I was incorrectly diagnosed with it at one time. However, one of my really good friends has it and I understand a lot about it. So many people make fun of him because they don't know what is going on. I hate to see this sort of stuff. So, I am here to wave my flag of support.

Sango, I'll think about it...
The other 2 are in.

Okay I thought about it! You're in!

Boip!
I have aspergers. *DRAMA* Seriously, I suffer because of it. I have a lackluster for making efforts at being part of a social world or even a community. Heck, the idea of a Asperger's club is almost irony in it of itself. Anyway, I'm loud, often angry and unsatisfied, and really lack social graces... and that's not the worst of it. I would like to join, if I may.

Clearly we're great!
I'm totally in.

I'm not surprised to see an Aspie club on a Pokemon site, after all, Pokemon seems tailor-made for Aspies.

I ain't witty, so no
May I please join? I've known since 2001. I can't stand to have a conversation with more than two people at a time; I become extremely nervous. I'm very reserved and shy. Heck, even asking to join right now is an effort. So, I guess it has made me suffer a fair bit...

Can I join? I'm fed up with posting on the Misc. thread one.

For the record, I've known that I have had asperger's syndrome since I was 3, in 1994 (not that I understood a lot back then, but by the sounds of things it is much earlier than other people found out)

You're all in except Blackjack. I haven't seen you before and I need more information from you first.
The Original Celebi, you may be co-owner.
BTW: Keep an eye out for nakuru; he's forbidden, as is Eternal!

Can I join? I found out I had aspie when I was just 6, and since then it has benefited me in as many ways as it has hindered me. For instance, I excel in many areas (like Art) but flat out fail in others (like Maths).
BTW, has anyone read the Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time? It is a novel that revolves around a teenager with asperger's, and I found it *very* interesting.

As a matter-of-fact, I have! My mom even got it for my Gramma for Christmas. The only thing is that it can be disturbing at times.
Almost 4got; you're in! Nice starter topic!

Co-owners are usually well-known by the Owner, but you may join.

On the subject of that book, there I own a radio dramatisation of it, and it's awesome: minus the fact that the i5-year old main character sounds like a 7-year old. It really broadens people's understanding of how Asperger's affects people, and being an asperger's person myself, I found it incredibly intruiging.
For all members who havn't read the book.......... you should.

I read that book not long ago. Interesting how in between every chapter he always writes in a random maths or science related thing that he has discovered and learnt how to do recently. I don't think I've read any book like it.

Diljabar

Life sucks, man.
It's weird how the chapters are only prime numbers; but his obsession is math and he's very good at it. Did you ever notice how Autism and Asperger's are never actually mentioned in the book, but it's obvious that the whole point of the book is Asperger's? I find it sad and disturbing when he finds out his mom's not dead, and then he throws up a lot out of shock. One thing that gets me though is that, although he references the fact that he recently learned how to properly spell 'Siobhan', he never once complains that you pronounce it 'Chevon' and that it makes no logical sense. It's a little confusing and always bugs me.

EDIT: Okay, upon reading this post, I discovered that it looks like the kind of monologue we would randomly give to an unsuspecting member of society, so I'm gonna make a more pleasant-looking version below.

Hi!

Hi guys and gals! Can I join? I have Asperger Syndrome as well, I found out when I was 9, my parents kept a secret until they thought I would understand! And that book that you were talking about, I have never read it!

Diljabar

Life sucks, man.
Not a problem, not everyone has read it, I'm sure. There may be an e-book somewhere; a lot of those exist now...
