Well that took no time at all. Only 473 REs in Lush Jungle and this pops up!

Hardest? Imho it's:

Female Combee
Male Pyroar
And Pokémon Ranger Manaphy egg - but no one hunts that. You're just freakin lucky!

I have my DS Lite, 3DS, & 3DSXL all going now for the following shiny hunts:

X: Fairy Safari with Mawlie, Kirlia, and Clefairy
Y: Fire Safari with Magmar, Pyroar, and Braxien
HG: SR for Articuno

OR: Litwick eggs are on hold.
Red: Mewtwo is on hold as well.

Zero shinies in friend safaris or eggs since last post.

Congrats to all who have got shinies. 16 is amazingly low! Congratulations! Hoping for some luck with this post.

Actually hunting a Pokemon Ranger Manaphy would require a bored millionaire to waste their money.

What about shinies that aren't dependent on gender?

Not necessarily. You can't get a shiny Manaphy on the game the egg is sent to so no matter how many games you get you can't get a shiny. The only way to get a shiny Manaphy is to trade the egg to another file which bypasses the shiny check. Hatch it and if it's not shiny reset, trade it to a different save file and try again. Essentially you only need one Ranger game and multiple gen4 games. Still, definitely not a shiny I'd ever hunt even if I was able to.

couldn't you just keep replaying the same Pokémon Ranger over and over?

The mission in question can only be done once and only once per game card so you can't get more than one egg per game. Even restarting the game doesn't help, you can't do the mission again. Not sure why this is but it's probably to stop people getting endless amounts of eggs.

Here's a YouTube top 10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy5ljomPzAg

Lot of heart ache in this video.

Not sure why someone would shiny hunt in a game where odds are low. I understand some legendaries are locked. So yes, you have to hunt in a precious lower odds game. I get it. For non locket shinies - why would you do that pain?

Some people actually prefer the 1/8192 odds over the 1/4096 odds in the newer games. For some, it is more challenging getting a 1/8192 shiny over a 1/4096 shiny(or any of the other odds, like MM odds, shiny charm odds, etc).

It all depends on what 'value' you think a 1/8192 shiny has and what 'value' a 1/4096 shiny has. Some people think 1/8192 odds are higher in value just like people think 1/4096 odds are. Different strokes for different folks after all.

Why hunt for shinies at all? It's a pain in general, but if the only thing you're getting out of it is the shiny, then cheating is the obvious best option. If that doesn't float your boat, then I guess chain fishing or whatever the next easiest option to hunt shinies should be your go to. But for me, if you offered to trade me a shiny or a regular pokemon, I probably wouldn't take the shiny. Personally, a shiny has no value to me unless I worked for it, at least on some level. As twilit Dragoon said, some people prefer 1/8192 odds and I guess I'm one of those people.

But anyways, I'm at 10,820 SRs for charmander on fire red. Considering doing a shiny quest, if anyone has seen those on YouTube.

Read every post since my last post, and congrats on everyone's shinies. Keep putting that work in.

Which shiny is more worthwhile-one you didn't expect and is random, or one you worked for by increasing the odds

Don't go there. You're prodding a very large beedrill hive with that question. Full of very angry beedrill.

Still no shiny in Sun/Moon for me yet. It'll happen eventually...

I'm planning out some hunts for when my trial quest finally starts. Would Drampa be easier to MM or SOS hunt?

Are you doing a shiny trial quest or just hunting shinies as you complete the game?

...Not deliberately doing a trial quest? I'm just hunting. The shiny bug is very hard to ignore. I've wanted to hunt these shinies for so darn long... Litten set me back months by being so stubborn

No matter what the answer is, it won't be the same for everyone. I'm choosing not to answer because there is no right or wrong answer to this.

I just don't know why people just can't enjoy shiny hunting without bringing up the arbitrary 'value' of a shiny and what is worth 'more'(I brought it up in an earlier post to get different points of view across). If people think their shiny charm shinies are worth more, good for them, but don't try and force other people to hunt your way. It just makes you look like a jerk.

I haven't picked up a shiny hunt in months, Breath of the Wild has taken up all my time. I don't even remember what my last shiny was, or what I was even hunting.

Congrats to everyone on their new shinies :)

I started my shiny Salazzle hunt and after 141 eggs I hatched a shiny. Sadly it was male but its IVs are amazing being 31/0/31/31/31/31. Seeing as I was using 2 6IV parents that means the attack was randomly generated to be 0 which means I have the potential to turn this male Salandit into a perfect special attacking shiny. It has its HA as well which is even better but I'm really struggling to decide what to turn it into. I'm leaning towards Charizard as I love its shiny but I don't have one ready so I'd have to do that on my AS tomorrow. I also need to hatch 2 and a half full boxes of non-shinies (which I'll do with Magikarp instead) so this is going to take some work but it'll be worth it to have a perfect 100% legitimate HP Ice shiny Charizard. Hope this works!

Good luck to everyone in their hunts :)

Grats on the 141 eggs Shiny! Anything sub 512 is a win in my book.

Newsflash: Shiny is Shiny is Shiny. It shines when it shines. It's all electrons. So, "value" (for me)... is most Irrelevant. As long as it's Shiny & legit is all that matters to me. If you want easier or harder odds, do your Shiny hunting thing.

We now return you to my dry spell already in progress.

Congrats on all of your shinies, guys! :) It appears I've been having a ton of shiny luck lately myself.

About a week ago, I was breeding for a competitive HA Blaziken, when I hatched a shiny Torchic just two eggs in! It's got the right ability and nature, but its Speed IV still needed to be patched up via Hyper Training.

Very shortly after I hatched the shiny Torchic, I started EV training its attack by SOSing wild Pikipek... and a shiny Pikipek appeared!!!

And just today, I was in the process of training my Ash-Greninja to Lv 100 on Poni Island so I could Hyper Train it... and then a shiny Gumshoos appeared!

So the other day I was looking for one of those Pikachus with Ash's hat, right? A Japanese player asks to Link Trade with me and I say yes hoping he has one of these Pikachus.

Unfortunately, no luck. I guess I'm just going to have to settle for the Shiny Miltank and Granbull instead :)

He also gave me a shiny Venonat but I'm not sure if it's legit or not (OT has the word Aus in it).

Other new shinies that look legit: Tyrantrum, Lopunny, Tapu Koko - all from trades :)

Probably MM. Drampa will learn Berserk and that can be troublesome. I know from dealing with SOSing Jangmo-o. Also, where did you get those shiny sprites?
