Official New and Improved General Shiny Thread

Got a couple of new shinies in Violet. A Larvitar named Buffy and a Bagon named Thanos. The latter was being a bit of a pain to hunt lol.

I did some chain hunting in Let's Go Pikachu just to do some old-fashioned hunting since it's been a long time since I played a console game, since I just finished the pokedex finally and got the shiny charm. I was almost out of pokeballs, but luckily I took to the air to lower my encounter rate and ended up with shiny tentacool. I was trying for staryu, but hey, a shiny's a shiny.

However decided that Falinks' shiny should have a bronze coloration needs a raise. The only raid I did on Falinks raid day gave me a shiny one

Honestly want to start a shiny hunt for Sprigatito soon but I'm kind of picky on the gender and the thought of hatching shinies of the wrong Sprigatito is a little discouraging not going to lie. In more positive news I managed to hatch a shiny Deino recently ^-^

This is a nice surprise. The first Pokemon I encountered today on GO was a shiny, namely a Pumpkaboo, which I haven't obtained yet in GO (the shiny; I got the species a long time ago)

I got a whopping seven shiny Sewaddle last Saturday, but I would have had eight if not for my stupidity. After catching the first few, I was confused when the berry and pokeball icons came up but it wouldn't show any pokeballs to choose from. All I had was my master ball, and for sure I wasn't using it on a sewaddle. At least one of the sewaddle on the screen was a shiny and I couldn't figure out why my game was glitching. I went online and no one else seemed to be having a problem. I finally figured out before it was too late that I had to leave the catch screen and buy the balls, it would only show the master ball as long as I kept it if it was the only ball available, when I was used to the pokeball icon being blank if there was no balls. Ugh. At least I'll know for the future until I find a pokemon worth using it on.

Finally I found a Zorua in GO that was shiny. I was hoping I would get one this Halloween season

I'm always glad when a lot of effort in trying to find a shiny pays off. I can't count how many copies of my buddy pokemon I've caught in trying to find a shiny zorua before I finally hit pay dirt yesterday. I'm just glad I finally got one before the Halloween event ended.

Took a brief break from shiny hunting Cresselia in Dynamax Adventures from working on getting shiny Meloetta on Home, but she finally shone today. The same adventure is when I got double shinies, the second being a Crustle. Took Cresselia since she was my target, R.I.P Crustle, your contribution to the run will not be forgotten.

I have finally managed to encounter a shiny Galarian bird with my Daily Adventure Incense. More specifically, a shiny Galarian Articuno

The only shiny I've ever captured is the Red Gyrardos from HG. I'm not as interested in shiny hunting as many other people who play Pokemon are. It takes too much time IMO.

While this thread is primarily about us getting shinies it is a general shiny thread so who wants to discuss our opinions on shinies. For example, I want to know how people feel about regional variant shinies having the original region's colorations

Got a pair of new shinies in Pokemon Scarlet, Rayquaza, which I named Stormy and a Chansey, which I named Olivia.

Just got a new shiny, a Flutter Mane, named it Luna.

Aside from the main star of the shiny Rayquaza event (nicknamed Skydios), caught a pair of shiny Cetoddle (one evolved into Cetitan), a Carbink and a Fraxure (now a Haxorus, nicknamed Ashera) from the event outbreaks. Also caught another shiny Fraxure on the way to a 6-star raid at the Terarium.


Outside of the event outbreaks, had a Magneton outbreak which I took advantage of to catch two shiny Magneton (one to keep as-is, the other to evolve).

I had a case of extreme good luck today. I went to Walmart to pick up a few things and caught a wild shiny Azelf. I don’t know what the odds of that is but it can’t be very high.

I heard that along with Unown, there's an incredibly narrow chance of a Lake Guardian spawning in the wild. It's possible like with the Galarian birds the chance has been set to 1/20 for wild legendaries much like how the Raids normally are, but that's still extremely lucky. Good job

Redeemed the shiny Enamorus for completing Hisui’s Pokédex following Home’s latest update. Completed it a while ago but thank Arceus the four Pokemon I was missing readily appears in the wild or I have extra copies of their pre-evolutions.

For more normal shiny hunts, obtained a shiny Petitil from an outbreak in Kitakami, did resort to using the in-game camera to check their eye colour. It took a brief trip into Legends: Arceus so it will evolve into its Hisuian regional form.


Edit: Got two more shinies, Fraxure (again) from one the special shiny Rayquaza outbreaks (still have the event for farming Herba Mystica) and a random shiny Magnemite. Now have the complete set of the Magnezone evolution line, ironically Magnemite was the only one to have a mark (the Cloudy Mark).

The only Shinies that im missing in my home (amongst the available ones) are the three form deoxys and nine trimmed furfrou, all of them only available in pokemon GO so i can transfer them into HOME and maintain the trimmed hair. Wish i had some friends with shiny furfrous to trade in pogo or had time to play this game...
