Now I've got the IV's sorted out I can finally continue my hunt for a shiny Gligar! I was very lucky to find a JP player who traded me one with 3 IV's I needed. Now it's just a case of breeding until the shiny pops!

I'm also still not sure whether to Chain Fish Poliwag or get it on SS for my BQ. On one hand, it'll be a while till I can get Poliwag on SS (after 4 badges) and I can get it fairly quickly AND make sure it's female on Y.
On the other hand, Chain Fishing is so easy and for something as special as Poliwag I'd really like it to be a special hunt... And I've planned to get it for my BQ for a while.

Opinions would be appreciated... Please ;A;

I would try to get it on SS or maybe MM for it if you want it to be a special hunt. (I'm not saying Chain Fishing is bad, but I would personally get more excited on a random/MM shiny)

I knew my resilience would pay off! After accidentally running from a Swablu just yesterday, I stopped counting my RE's, but another one appeared just now! This one's male, unlike the last one, but this is one quick reclaim if I've ever seen one!

Again, forgive backwards and iffy image quality of my laptop's webcam. At level 26, IV's are totally hit-or-miss: 30/29/5/31/0/9. Only Special Attack and Special Defense are confirmed, of course. That's okay though, since Lax nature isn't going to be used competitively at all. I'm just glad this didn't stay as a missed shiny, and that this was much quicker than Torchic. I can now stay concentrated for my essay due Wednesday too. Next on my list is not really set in stone, since I didn't expect such a quick hunt. I may be starting a BQ soon in SS, though that might just get axed for another SR hunt for a legendary. At this rate, I'll be doing a legendary quest here

Congrats on reclaiming it! Missing a shiny must feel really bad, so reclaiming it must be refreshing. (Also, you can easily flip the image using Paint)

Or you can go to the Battle Institute in Lumiose City which auto levels your pokemon to level 50.

What I do for IVs is to ask a friend for a Battle so that I can check stats at level 50 c:

As for me. No new shinies, I'm taking a break.
I EV trained and evolved my shiny Petilil and gave her Quiver Dance, Sleep Powder, Petal Dance and Nature Power (might replace it with HP Flying). I nicknamed her Arylia, a corruption of amaryllis.

I also EV trained and evolved my shiny Tangela from Friend Safari. She needs a nickname... 8D

Also, I have to EV train my shiny Ducklett from chaining. She's Careful with 31 IVs in attack and special attack. Any suggestion?

I am in an unbelievable state of shock right now........
I decided to give horde (hoard?) hunting a go with my sweet scent foongus and ON THE VERY FIRST HORDE I GOT A SHINY NIDORAN MALE! Undoubtabley one of the best shinies ever! And my shortest hunt ever! I am one happy hunter this weekend! Gl and congrats to all!

Hmmm so I'm finding a little hitch in my next project, a Lucario. My target is a Shiny Justified Lucario, but I'm running into a few kinks...
-I'm only ever getting Foreign (Japanese) Female Riolus without Prankster. However, some of them have terrific 4 perfect IV stats.
-I'm only ever getting Foreign (Japanese) Male Riolus with up 3 perfect IVs only. This means I can only replace the non-foreign parent if the kid is a female with better stats, which would be difficult seeing as the chance of a female is 12.5%.

So these are my options:
1. Create a 5 IV combat Justified Lucario without using the Masuda Method. This one, I will definitely be doing, as I prefer more combat prepared Pokémon rather than shinies. What I am debating is if I should do this first to create better parents, or if I should go with the Masuda, as experience dictates I will be hatching a lot of eggs looking for a shiny, many of them being 5 IVers.

2. Push through with using the 3 IVer Japanese parent. This is the most statistically difficult, as a 3 IVer for me is a sub-par parent, and making a 5 IVer female will probably take a lot of breeding and is a very rare occurrence as well. This will most likely create the shiny Justified Lucario, but my concern is it's IVs has a higher chance of being only 3 perfect or lower.

3. Bite the proverbial bullet and just go with Inner Focus. Justified is the chosen ability as it allows a possible +1 on a Dark move, allowing him to go to Mega with an attack bonus on the get go. However, Inner Focus is quite an acceptable ability, and while Justified's bonus is better, the chances of it activating is probably not that high anyway.

So what do you guys think I should do?

Holy applepie!! I just got my shiny Mareep in the 26th egg!!!

...I was hatching while my applepie is baking.

Oh my... yay! First shiny Kalos starter... Shiny Chespin! wow so I have now gotten all 6 grass type starters in shiny form woo! I think it was egg 60 of Chespin eggs. I have been doing a get three from box and then two fresh eggs (which have been various other pokemon just to make things more interesting). Wow and this also means Community Hunt Complete X4 to go along with my two shiny Clauncher and shiny Swirlix. Ok so now I will get you silver fox and you Froggy.

Earlier I was EV training a Froakie in the Connecting Cave and on my third encounter with a Zubat Horde, one of those were Shiny! My Tyrantrum took a beating from Confusion status but at the end I was able to Luxury Ball the green thing. It's my fourth Shiny obtained in X and Y. Modest nature was a let down but I'll probably save it when move tutors become a thing, if ever (assuming Heat Wave and Giga Drain is available and Hurricane too).

I hatched my Shiny Honedge the other day. Because it's red, I named it Damenblade. That was my first egg hunt ever, and it's Male Relaxed with perfect HP IVs, exactly what I wanted, minus the Attack IVs, lol.

My Honedge MM is not going so well as I've almost reach 700 eggs but i have five boxes full of egg left so I hope it shines soon.

Hello,

I haven't played much Pokemon Y for the past few weeks because I lent my DS to my friend. So that means I haven't gotten any shiny hunting done during those weeks. I just got back my DS the other day and chained myself a shiny Zoroark. Probably not going to chain on Y again because it's absolutely brutal in this game. Well, in my opinion anyways.

Still nothing on my Honedge hunt. I just hit 420 eggs, but I'm not expecting anything until 1000 or so.

I did maybe 2-3K of RE in this game outside of Friend Safari and found nothing. I haven't gone into the Friend Safari until this morning when I finally got a friend to register me. Her safari was fire types and I decided to wait around because I found Magmar and Larvesta which both have really great shinnies. Well, after only 7 encounters in there and I found myself a pink Magmar. I was very happy to say the least because I once hunted for Magby a long time ago but cancelled the hunt because I got bored.

Well, back to MM Honedge. Good luck, everyone.

OMG! You have got to be kidding me! I was just EV training my Electrike on Route 10 in Sp. Atk. against Sigilyphs and on the last Sigilyphs I was going to kill, it was shiny!! So I guess that counts as my next BQ shiny (even though I haven't even battled the 3rd gym yet!) Caught completely off guard!

Of course it also has a crappy nature, Naughty (+atk, -sp. def) with Magic Guard ability. Well at least i am finally getting somewhere in this BQ!!

Even though it was short, I think it was painful! After 2 days of random encounters in a Fire type Friend Safari containing Braixen, I finally got my gorgeous purple beauty!
I found a wild shiny Braixen!

It's female, my pride and joy, thanks to my male Cute Charm Wigglytuff! She has an Hasty nature (+ Speed, - Defense), which is awesome, though I would have prefered Timid. She has the ability Blaze, which is too bad. Magician would have been perfect! Finally, her IVs look like this... 22-23/10-11/31/16-17/31/31. With 3 perfect IVs, located in Defense, Special Defense and Speed! Too bad for her Special Attack; I wished it was higher. I also nicknamed her Blaze, because she reminds me of Blaze the Cat, my favorite character of the Sonic the Hedgehog serie. Probably not going to evolve her. Braixen is my favorite of the evolution!

So now I can say proudly COMMUNITY HUNT COMPLETED for a second time this month!

But a question, for the Friend Safari increased shiny chance, does the person have to be online or can I hunt any Safari whenever I please and not have the shiny chance normal?

I've caught shinies without the 'owners' being online. I've actually caught a shiny in a FS who I have never even met before. (only added each other, but never met to get the 3rd, they were still a questionmark as icon in the FS menu.)
