Masuda Method is 1/682, not 1/500. As for the exact odds of the Friend Safari shiny rate, unfortunately, that's something that will have to wait until the game's ROM can be read, and analyzed, which would take quite a bit of time.

Man do I love her colours. Yellow shines are some of the nicest around in my opinion (I may be biased, it's my favourite colour.)

Omg, FINALLY a shiny Honedge!!!! (after a painstaking 1.421 MM eggs; one of my longest MM hunts, sigh)
BUT: Brave natured 31/31/31/x/31/?; hooray!!

I know so many have it already, but it's such a beautiful crimson red! November Community Hunt complete!!
My two perfect IV parents are at Level 96 and 97, lol.

Now I can finally allow myself to go Safari Hunting. For all the negative Karma I might have accrued during this MM hunt, I wish better Karma and good luck to everyone for their next hunt!

EDIT: I know serebii claims the 50% reduction rate on the site, but how exactly do we know that MM odds in XY are 1/682 (or 500 for that matter), as opposed to the previous game's 1/1365.3 or 1/1024?

Well first off, Congrats on the Shiny Honedge, wicked Shiny

As for how we know the odds, the game has been analysed by people who know how to access the data on the ROM itself.

The exact rate has not been found yet, but I bet it's even easier then MM, which is 1/500. So far, I have never been over 500 encounters in FS before getting any shiny. (gotten 4 in FS) And I mean any of the ones in the safari. Keep in mind some people are only after 1 of the 3, which can make a hunt take longer.

As far as the Friend Safari rate is concerned, i've had plenty of hunts go over 500 RE's. My Current hunt for a Shiny Spiritomb is approaching the 8 hour mark, so overall around 1k RE's.

Of course by that same measure, I've had 5 Shinies appear across what was a span of 1200 RE's this past Saturday.

I would hazard a guess that the odds are the same as MM odds.

Thanks to kyle72686 i have managed to add a FS with Bibarel & Wartortle(Frogadier as 3rd). Now, I won't be going online to access the 3rd Pokemon right away, as right now it's pivotal to my plan to keep this FS at just 2 Pokemon. That way i have a 1/2 chance of locating Shiny Wartortle compared to the 1/3 chance i'd have if all 3 were unlocked.

So i'm now going to pickup where i left off 2 days ago, and hunt for a Shiny Wartortle.

Just keep on hatching, eventually you'll get one.
I don't really expect any of my eggs to be shiny, I'm more "this one's gonna be regular" and at the same time I keep crossing my fingers for a strike of luck.
When I bred Gastly I hatched 933 eggs, now I'm also hunting Eevee, one for me and one for my boyfriend. I had super luck and hatched my first one att egg #140, which is about 4+ 1/2 box. I've kept on since then and currently hatching the last box I have which will take me up to 360 (12 boxes in total) but I'll keep on untill I get one. It just takes a while to release every single Eevee that isn't shiny haha

Remember, there is a higher chance of shiny from Masuda Breeding, but not a guarantee in the 1/682 odds. Keep at it and you'll get it sooner or later ^^

Finally it happened after starting my hunt for a shiny aron on the 11th she finally shined for me. So now when I next see my boyfriend I can give her to him hope he appreciates the time I put into hatching her.
I've uploaded pictures to the link in my sig if anyone wants to look.

Now I can go and breed more members for my team or maybe ill MM for a honedge.

So, I finally got my first ever shiny! Strangely enough though, it isn't the shiny vulpix I've been MM'ing, I'm still working on that to no avail... Last night, I actually found a shiny Meinfoo by complete accident, I was out on route 8 looking for a male Spoink to complete a new MM pair as I'd gotten a French female Spoink through wonder trade, I was just walking about when out of nowhere a level 15 female shiny Meinfoo appeared, I squealed loudly... Granted isn't at all what I wanted it's still my first ever shiny and I found her completely by chance so I can now officially say I have a shiny Still working on MM'ing a shiny Vulpix though, I'm now up to approximately 3,600 eggs hatched. So, hopefully the shiny Meinfoo I found accidently signals the end of my bad luck.

It is approximately 1/546.17 which is exactly 14.999 times increased odds of the old shiny rate of 1/8192

Carvanha is a really nice shiny too, color wise.

I've been hatching a bunch of Spritzee eggs by using the Masuda Method. Hatched 257 so far but no shinies yet. Then again 257 isn't much.
Also, do any of you have a clue which method is the most efficient for getting shinies in gen 6? Masuda Method, hordes or just wandering around in friend safari? I've always been terrible with chaining so I won't try that ^^;

OMG after 6 hours of hunting in this fairy safari it finally paid off! not 1 BUT 2 of the shiny pokemon i really wanted from it

a shiny spritzee and a shiny dedenne <3, Literally found the shiny spritzee first then i said **** it lets encounter again i might find dedenne too and after 2 encounter i found him

One more thing i found that throwing my stylus in the air sometimes just raises my chance of finding a shiny pokemon xD

Looks like lots of people are being lucky in the safari, to those who are MMing, keep at it! You'll definitely get one evenly, if you give up you'll just have boxes full of babies to release.

Anyways, I found a shiny Braixen today from that fire safari i've been hunting in for weeks. So far two shiny Ponyta and a shiny Braixen, still dont have what I was originally wanting though, a shiny Charmeleon. But a shiny is still a shiny, so horray!

Going to SR for a while before I sleep, hopefully i'll get lucky~
