got my 4th shiny tonight. a sniper octillery via chain fishing. yeah yeah, boooo chain fishing. i'm just glad it finally worked for me. tried it a handful of times to no avail and gave it another shot tonight and it worked only after a few casts. now just gotta get it to work with radar. still not doing it right.

Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future

Hit 1000 eggs for Spritzee today. My thumb hurtsSore thumb, no Spritzee.
Are you running just to get your eggs or to hatch them too? The Lumiose trick could help for hatching (you need a dime, though. A penny works but a dime is thinner, so... yeah XD)
Anyway, just found a shiny Magmar today in FS. Thinking now of what else to add to complete my shiny team. Meanwhile, time to make some money. XD

That's right, I found yet another shiny in the Friend Safari. This time, it was a Klefki! It has a bashful nature with perfect Special Defense and Speed IVs. Unfortunately, it has the Magician ability when Prankster is far better, but I'll work around that. She's called Goldilocks.

And you would be right. I MIGHT be able to get a 3DS after the new year ("might" being the key word), but I would not be able to get X or Y for some months afterward. I personally prefer a CH challenge that's not gen-specific. Especially if some of us have no access to that gen.
Currently filling my last two boxes with absol eggs. Let's see if I'm still having this freaky good luck, or if shiny hunts will be back to normal (a.k.a. long)

I have been lurking for a few weeks and just looking at all your awesome shinies. I did most of my shiny hunting back in diamond when it was slightly easier to chain for shinies. However I have been fortunate enough to get 7 shinies in X.

Shuppet, Throh, Spheal, Floette, and just tonight a frogadier- FS
Now it seems that I walk into some safaris and cannot find a shiny for hours. Leave and enter another and get one within 30 pokes. I would love to know how this mechanic actually works

I was kind of putting off working any further on MMing for a shiny Furfrou since I've been kind of sick the last few days (winter weather hit me like a brick, apparently) but I picked up my game today and gathered another 95 eggs before I started hatching.
On my 161st egg I received a get-well-soon from my game in the form of a shiny female Furfrou! I'm so very pleased I have her now, and her IVs actually aren't all that terrible considering I wasn't really TRYING to get anything fantastic out of this. She's also adamant, which I figure is workable.
Next on my list is the shiny Budew I've been dying to get my hands on since I saw how wonderful shiny Roserade look with their black and purple flowers in Gen4. Good luck to everyone on their hunts~!

Well it's around 2:15 in the morning and I've been up hatching eggs while watching videos and live streams and stuff and I'm up to around 500 eggs, and I'm probably going to be up all night and I'm probably going to do it all day tomorrow (Thanksgiving break!), and I can't sleep in peace without getting the shiny, so I'm crossing my fingers that I'll get it soon.
Crap, while hoping to run into a shiny zubat. I ran into a shiny whismur, female. Would match my shiny male whismur though on my Y version, I can now head off to my 5th BQ pokémon.
I will start hunting now on route 7, I don't want to risk another shiny whismur. I really want a shiny zubat. Lol.
Edit: Great, shiny hoppip.. my 5th BQ shiny. ANOTHER FEMALE. I only want male shinies =\ I prefer them. Time to go and hunt in route 15 and hoping for a shiny murkrow.

RE Serviper, Random Hatch Farfetch'd, MM Fennekin, and MM Trapinch.

Well, Gligar is in the Bug Egg-group, You can try and see if you can find someone with a foreign 5IV bug? Scolipede seems to be a popular bug people like to breed perfectly? As long as the female has Immunity, most eggs should still get that ability.Congrats everyone on your new shinies
Saw a video on youtube yesterday of someone who got 2 shinys in a row in the friend safari, makes me tempted to do some safari hunting again. I have a certain Dark Safari with stuff I want~
No shiny updates from me though, my Gligar egg count hit 330, which isn't a lot... but most of the offspring had horrible IV's (No attack or no def..). Managed to get together 12 Outstanding Gligars with 5IV's and having a debate with myself if to just regular breed for a shiny or hope I can find someone with a non-english game to breed one for me so the MMing has a good outcome.
I mean...1/4000-something isn't as much as 1/8000 so I might try for a regular shiny breeding... gotta get that Gligar x__x

Actually, the idea I made up a bit ago was to get a colour themed shiny. Red/Green/White to fit Christmas. This challenge would also fit for all gens.
But victory road can also work. It'll be extra challenging in (I think) gen 5 and 6 since the most common mons there have Sturdy.
I actually don't mind male Ralts, at least then you have the option to go either Gallade or Gardevoir. The Shiny Kirlia I caught for my friend ended up with IVs better suit for a Gallade, but it was female so it wasn't possible. If you're trading them, drop me a PM?

My shiny luck has officially been drained. 5 days of Horde hunting, Friend Safari hunting and hatching litwick eggs and nothing to show for it.
I can't really say i'm disappointed, as I only had 1 shiny before Pokemon Y, but it feels kinda weird after my almost overwhelming luck a couple of weeks ago.
Created a game with my GF atleast, whoever finds a shiny first doesn't have to do the dishes... So naturally it's me doing them, especially since she got a Shiny Eevee today, which is a little annoying considering she spends way less time hunting then I do.
A location based CH sounds brilliant to me. Victory Road is a good idea, I do need a Druddigon for my dragon shiny collection.
Anyway, congratulations to those who have got their shinies and good luck to those still hunting. I hope my drought ends soon.

I've found 5 Shinies today. Since around 10 AM I've been hunting. Found 2 Kirlia's, Mawile, Spritzee & Metang. The only one I personally liked & kept (I traded all the others in a trading frenzy I had today x.x) was my Adamant Metang (31IVs in Attack & Speed). All were in the friend safari. And for all of them, except for Metang, my sync did NOT work. So cheesed about that . I even caught 2 Kirlia's. Chances were my sync should have worked at least once... Oh well. I'm continuing the hunt for a Shiny Adamant Mawile & Excadrill, as well as a Modest Blue Flowered Floette. Wish me luck ^_^
