Official New and Improved General Shiny Thread

So, I found out one of my friends FS' has Quilladin, so I've started looking around for him. Wasn't keeping count on how many REs last night, but I will be tonight. I'd estimate it at 50. And I've hatched two boxes of Druddigon. I honestly don't think Druddigon will be an early shiny, but then again, I thought the same about Clauncher.

Argh, busy for a couple of days and so many pages missed. I'll go through them all in a minute but for now, congrats on all the recent shinies.

I've gone back to White, trying to finish my MM hunt before I start getting more 'easier' X shinies....managed to add another 200 odd.....now at 2387 eggs hatched.....wonder if I'll get one before I reach double odds.

Ok 5 hours ago I caught a Shiny mime jr. & Shiny Frogadier. Just caught a shiny shuppet. Switching to different safari with Lampent, Pumpkaboo & Dusclops.

So I just found a shiny Larvesta in the friend safari after not too long at all (about 300 REs, I don't really like keeping count of these at all).

It's a good thing I checked what moves it has, because it learns take down at lv.20 (why does everything have take down these days anyway?). Fortunataly I caught it after 3 ultra balls with it paralyzed thanks to my Heliolisk.

This was the exact shiny I was looking for in the safari. I even brought a modest synchronizer with me. I check its nature...

Well that sure put a damper on things. Oh well, Larvesta is still a really cool shiny. I think I'm going to stay in this safari a bit longer though in hopes of getting a shiny Braixen (a modest shiny larvesta wouldn't hurt either )

In regards to my hatch a Shiny Amaura hunt, i've decided to collect 5 at a time, hatch them, deposit them all into boxes and then if no shiny appears just shutdown the game and start anew the next day, so i don't need to deal with the pesky releasing aspect.

So far i've filled 2 boxes, plus i hatched around 60 before starting this system, so i'm at around 120 Amaura thus far.

I'm using an Amaura i hatched in this game, with a japanese Amaura i obtained from the GTS, so i at least know what i'm doing in that regards.


I'm gonna keep myself occupied by doing some dvd boxset marathons(buffy/angel/stargate and such), as well as random encountering in my Black 2 Game in the double battle grassy area's... i need to see what there is in certain areas first(am thinking of trying in Route 11 or route 20, as there are some nice shinies there), and i also gotta check if i have an adequate shiny capturer too.

Trying to get a shiny Zorua to hatch, 310 egg's so far. Nothing yet but hopefully it shines soon ^^

Mawile took 378 egg's
Super size pumkaboo took 139 egg's
And Absol took only 30 egg's 0~o

So far absol has the lead for fastest shiny i MM'd but im sure that ate up all my luck so Zorua is probably going to take awhile X__x

I caught me a shiny Shellder in 70 encounters outside of Ambrette Town! This is my 4 shiny Pokemon that I have gotten through chain fishing. The other shiny's I have gotten through chain fishing were Remoraid, Skrelp, and Poliwhirl!

I got my shiny Growlithe!! =D It was Adamant with Flash Fire, which is excellent! Its IVs are a little lacklustre (11 Atk...) but it's nice anyway.

Trying in a different Fire Safari now with Braixen, Magmar and Larvesta - a shiny Timid Larvesta would be lovely...

Um, wow, really? I'm not even looking for a shiny, and I got my first duplicate shiny ever just now. Shiny Durant in a horde with Heatmor. But all I want is a Truant Durant! ;_;
At least Heatmor wasn't the shiny, but still. I didn't even get to see the sparkles because the camera was out its view. It's been a long time since my last shiny, which was also a Durant in Clay Tunnel, so I guess a shiny at this point isn't out of place.



Naughty with Swarm, and IV's are 2/25/19/29/22/29. I'd actually be so happy if it had the hidden ability, but oh well...back to looking for a Truant Durant, the best Pokemon for the Battle Subway/Maison ever.

So are the odds on Friend Safari shinies known? Or do we just know that it's more frequent?

Not many great Pokemon in my friends' safari zones, but one has a Metang and a Ferroseed in and I wouldn't mind searching around for one of those two.

I did it! I actually did it! After finding two shiny Seaking and a shiny Shapredo on the same route (Route 21, by the way), I found my long sought-after shiny Gyarados!

It has a Timid nature, which I'm not too thrilled about, but it's IV spread isn't too bad: 21/17/15/7/20/14.

I guess it could be better, but still.

EDIT: Here is a photo of my awesome shiny Gyarados.

Hey guys! After only 3838 random encounters my second Y badge quest shiny has appeared, and it's exactly the one I was hoping for... a shiny Honedge! ^__^

Shiny Honedge video - he's a cut above the rest!

He's male and Naive natured (like my shiny Fennekin, strangely enough. It also had a similar 'repeating' number of encounters, since Fennekin took 3131 SR). Too bad it didn't appear tomorrow; a blood-red ghost sword would have been a cool halloween shiny (not that I really celebrate halloween )

Now I'll have to figure out what to hunt for BQ shiny number 3.

HOLY CRAP!! I was just skimming through the serebii forums, while just RE'ing in the friend safari for a shiny pumpkaboo, and I heard a sparkle and looked down and what do I see but ANOTHER shiny shuppet!! THEYRE EVERYWHERE!! Got a bold nature, which isnt that great, but my friend doesnt care, so looks like I got a shiny spiritomb coming my way Ill keep looking for a pumpkaboo. Also, before I started hunting I tipped a singer 1000 poke 3 times. I am pretty sure that helps with my shiny rate, cause my friend found his spiritomb fairly quickly after tipping a bard 1000 poke 4 times.

Thanks! It's definitely not bad, but my other one was Adamant with Hustle and IV's of 30/3/26/14/10/21. Difficult comparison there, but I'm not using either one competitively. Not sure what I'll do about having a duplicate of this, though. But that's for another time, since my game was so kind to give me a Jolly Truant Female Durant! That's fantastic, and now I'm off to go wreck the Battle Maison. And again, I'm off, and hopefully the next time I post, I'll have a shiny Torchic to post about.

Decided to take a break from MM and took a go at Chain Fishing. 49 throws of the dice later and I get my very first legit shiny since Gen II!!!!!!

Was a shiny female Octillery, named her Goldilegs. Will edit this post in a bit when I've done a little more posting around the forum

Just caught a shiny Oddish in Heliotrope's friends safari! Kinda wish I would have gotten my 2nd bq shiny first, but I'm happy with shiny Oddish. She has a Bold nature (+Def, -Atk). She will make a great Bellossom! Now what to hunt in the safari... hmm....

Lol, congrats on your hunt. I'm glad that went well for you. BTW, you should post a screenshot of a shiny Mega Gyarados. I wanna see that.
