I woke up extra early today and hatched another 45 Minccino eggs before work. I also just finished doing random encounters for Shinies on Y version, but no luck yet. I haven't found a Shiny in Y version yet despite playing it since last year, so I'm anxious to encounter one. :x

Been a bit since I've posted and since then I've found, uhh, quite a few shinies.

I decided to hatch another batch of Zubats in my quest for a shiny male, and I ended up hatching another female. I'm at 1970 eggs now.
I then switched over to Chespin, and 221 eggs in a hatched a shiny male with Bulletproof and a spread of 31/xx/31/31/31/31, which is unfortunate since he needs attack instead of sp. attack. I'm aiming to hatch at least one more so I can have both a Chespin and a Chesnaught, so hopefully the next one I hatch will have the spread I want.

I dropped my Grimer hunt in W2, partially because the low encounter rate in the sewers was bothering me, but mostly because I want to have one to follow me around in SS, so I moved over to Route 6 to hunt for Deerling. A mere 142 encounters later I saw something shine- a Karrablast. I like Karrablast and it shone so quickly that I'll happily take it. I'll hunt Grimer whenever I get to Celadon in my badge quest.

Then I went a little crazy with chaining in Pearl and Diamond, and ended up chaining two Glameow, two Mime Jr. and a Stunky. I evolved the second Glameow and Mime Jr.

So now I'm MMing for a competitive Sableye, and I'm at 660 eggs hatched so far, but I'll also be hunting Spewpa and Burmy for the CH.

So I've managed to breed my way up to a 6IV female Lapras with Hydration, so I'm now gathering boxes of eggs. Will probably only gather 7 boxes at a time instead of my usual 14 boxes, as it will take years to hatch all those Lapras lol. Wish me luck!

Hi everyone! I've been away on vacation for a couple of weeks, so I'll have to give a blanket congrats to everyone on their recent shinies - and I have some news of my own to report!

So while I was gone, I continued my SoulSilver BQ since I've been neglecting it a bit lately. I was doing encounters like a madwoman on Route 32, hoping for something to shine. And after 6608 REs on May 21st, it finally happened - shiny Ekans appeared! I didn't realize how green it was in 4th gen (lol), but it looks surprisingly good. Her name is Cleopatra and she has a Docile nature. She's quite special, as she marks my 30th non-event, non-traded shiny!

...but that's not all! After defeating Bugsy, I headed off to Goldenrod City, intending to reset for the Eevee that Bill gives you. However, I had forgotten that Bill doesn't give you Eevee until after the third gym, so I decided to move up one of my other planned hunts, which was an RE hunt on Route 36 with Vulpix as my target. But amazingly, just two days and 735 REs later... shiny Nidoran male appeared! I was totally confused when I saw it come across the screen, because I saw the blue and then saw the shape of the male form of Nidoran, and it took me a moment to put together that it was a shiny! His name is Elvis, also with a Docile nature. Both he and Cleopatra (in addition to my Totodile) are now evolved, and all three of them look incredible!

I'm now well into my 4th BQ hunt, which is an SR hunt for Sudowoodo. Originally I wasn't planning to hunt for it, but I forgot that you can't get Eevee until you get past Sudowoodo, so I figured I might as well (it's been a long time since I played through Johto, lol). I'm currently at 2375 SRs. Also, since I'm back home, I can resume my other hunts - Fennekin at 1525 SRs, and Piplup at 300 eggs. Hopefully this month will bring good fortune as well. I can't believe how far I've come since I got my first hunted shiny (Snivy) nearly a year ago!

Hey everyone, it's been a long time since I've really been on the site, but I guess this is the best shiny thread to be on lately! I've been getting back into hunting since summer started and last night I hatched this after 1525 eggs in my Black 2! This hunt has been going on forever, and it's the only Masuda Method hunt that I've ever completed haha!

Also the new Challenge is perfect because I was just about to switch to hunting on my Platinum to resume my shiny badge quest that I've had to put off for a while because of school. So I have some big news right now:

I was having a LAN-Party with some friends and played a lot of games that night including pokemon A LOT. I ended up getting a Scyther from a Friend. Got A random Inkay encounter. Found an Oddish for my Badge Quest A Solosis from Reflection Cave Random Encounter. Hatched a Squirtle within 30 eggs!!! And Found A Larvesta in the Safari.

Its litteraly been a night of a thousand shinies and I notice that having the Shiny charm is a big help.
And now my BQ is finally starting off at a pace Im started getting more pumped every time I get A shiny for it

So I went back to route 5 to catch myself a Doduo as my flying pokemon for my Badge Quest and within 53 encounters a Abra appears! Its not the Pokemon I wanted but it is REALLY welcome. This makes number 7 in 30 hours.

It has a Bold Nature which is pretty nice since it doesn't need attack anyway. I am Really happy my BQ is coming along. I might go further for Doduo but for now I might need a break.

An hour and fifty minutes ago I finally hatched my dream - a shiny Onix. After getting the EVs sorted, checking stats, and acquiring a metal coat I am now officially the proud trainer of a shiny female steelix with perfect HP, Def, and Sp.Def, an above average Attack, and a pure 0 in Speed. My favorite pokemon shines at last. I'll give a fuller update tomorrow.

I finally got my shiny from the Virbank Complex! It took eleven hours, but at last I'm the owner of a shiny Magnemite.

Now, I'm heading for Unova's Route 5 where I'm going to hunt for Solosis, Minccino or Trubbish. I think I'm also going to hunt a little in the Friend Safari later, as it has been a while since last time I did.

EDIT: It seems that my shiny luck has returned. After just an hour, a shiny Minccino appeared! It is even a female, which was exactly what I wanted. She now resides inside a Luxury Ball.

Now, I'm going to hunt at Unova's Route 6. It has a lot of different Pokémon available in the dark grass, so it's probably a great place for shiny hunting.

EDIT 2: I'm speechless. After just another hour, a shiny male Deerling appears. Deerling was actually the Pokémon I wanted the most from this route, so I'm quite happy with this.

Even though Route 6 has several interesting shinies, I now plan to go on to Route 7, as both Zangoose and Seviper can be found there. However, I highly doubt I'll get another shiny from RE'ing today.

Whilst what you say is fair enough, I do disagree with being all "hard luck, maybe you can join in next time" (which isn't what you said but it sums up in a similar way to that). No individual CH can be called mediocre, let us just say. Expanding the bug theme to Honey Trees and Headbutting is in no way mediocre compared to the initial idea, which is essentially what you said when referring to including everyone.

I'm going to be honest. The smart move thing idea is bad. Why should we have a CH based on exams which will end up reminding people of exams? Pokémon is more or less a form of escapism from real life, why should we remind them of exams through the CH? Still, not everyone is doing exams but it is still a bit...irritating for those who do.

The new proposed bug theme is absolutely fine though, as some people have already planted berries in the X/Y Berry Fields for the hunt anyways...expanding it won't interrupt that, I'm sure. Doing the bug theme would save us any hassle anyways, so the quicker it goes in the first post the better.

And like I said, if everyone’s okay with that, then that’s great. It just seemed like the whole point of picking the bug theme for the berry trees was to make this month’s CH much more limited as a way to change it up. People seemed to like the idea until it was said that maybe not everyone who’d want to participate would be able to, and to expand it to other games to accommodate other people (not many, since most people seem to have X/Y on here). Expanding it from 6 pokemon to ~30 pokemon kind of makes the whole idea pointless since the original point was to make a much more limited hunt than normal.

I’m not saying the hunt is worse because it includes more pokemon, or that it’s bad to try to include every single person if no one really cares about giving up hunts. I’m just saying people seem to like certain ideas, and then aren’t able to go through with it because an extreme minority might have to skip a month. It just doesn’t really seem like the end of the world to do a unique hunt that people want to do at the risk of a couple people having to skip a CH.

I mean, as it is there are already people who have said they don’t want to do this hunt because of the SR focus of it (and they seem okay to sit out for a month). I just don’t see a big difference between that and giving up hunt ideas to try to accommodate fewer people than you can count on a hand. I’m also not saying that individual people aren’t important, just that if everyone is equally important, you may as well go with a majority.

Just my opinion, and as long as no one misses the original ideas, no harm done.

I really didn't want to be a killjoy - I just brought up a point that I thought was problematic, but I'm quite the minority by not owning later gen games! CpChris, it wasn't that I didn't find the hunt appealing, I just thought that it had a pretty strong limitation. I don't want to spoil what could be a fun hunt - if the majority of people don't want it expanding to earlier generations, then that's fine.

And I in no way intended to make it sound like you or anyone else is a problem for thinking that, so apologies to anyone who took it that way. All I think is that if there’s a unique hunt that a lot of people like, it’s only for the month so they might as well go for it. No one’s going to be permanently excluded from CHs because of it, so it just doesn’t seem like a huge issue.

Another hunt bites the dust! Yesterday I spent the whole day gathering Shuckle eggs, gathering 12 boxes of them. I managed to hatch two boxes yesterday before bed, so I picked up the hunt this morning. In the 4th box in the 4th egg:



A shiny Shuckle hatched from the egg, for a total of 574 eggs! He ended up getting Contrary, which was what I wanted . IVs aren't too bad 31/31/x/31/31/31, too bad the speed and defense IVs weren't switched, but I'm happy with it.

So I have a total 180 to hatch (which won't be all in one day since Eevee take forever to hatch!)

So I'm quite a bit over the odds, I don't know why my Eevee MMs take forever x.x

After, about...40 soft resets I caught a Shiny Volbeat with my first Oran berry patch. I was telling myself (goodness...this will take forever!!) But NO! He came JUST like that!
And I managed to get a photo of him with the encounter. No sparkles, but I was squealing. (I clicked the home button and went to the notes section on the top. There is a way to look at one of the screens)

I will still hunt for a Burmy and Illumise, so my Berries guardian is still to be used and abused in Shiny Hunting.
I have also started breeding Purrloin again, hoping to get a Shiny out of that.

...and I caved and started soft resetting for a Shiny starter in SS. I am about ~60 or so SR with that.

So I saw someone else post they were confused on the whole X/Y Berry Tree and I'm actually confused and out of the loop myself. I don't understand what anyone is talking about, having to plant berries and wait for to shake to find a Pokemon... in a Berry Tree? So I may not participate in this months Hunt.

Alright...to everyone asking...

I'll try to explain the best as I can...with Bulbapedia help.
Every 2 hours after the plant has grown past the seedling stage, a "pest" Pokemon will appear. Depending on the color of berry you plant is what you get, manipulating which Pokemon you will encounter (like my Volbeat)

When a tree is shaking (you'll see and hear it), you save right before it (like you would any other reset). You interact with it, see if it is shiny, and if it is not, reset. Simple.

However, I want to believe there is a chance of having the "pest" Pokemon vanish. I believe it had happened to me once before, but that was after a few hours of playing. Maybe it resets after every 2 hours...I'm not sure. (I had my Volbeat in the tree for well over two hours)

I have caught in X Friend Safari, an Adamant Tangela (perfect HP, Sp. Attack and Speed) and a Hardy Maractus (perfect Def. and Sp. Def.), also found an Ivysaur but failed to catch it (gonna reclaim it soon).

Yesterday after 4051 SR's Ho-Oh shone in SS, I had a good team to fight this level 70 legendary, Garchomp false swiped it and then Tangrowth used sleep although it was rather difficult since Ho-Oh knows Safeguard and Tangrowth kept failing when it had the chance to make it sleep. I also really wanted to catch this legendary in either a Fast Ball or a Level Ball, eventually I caught it in a Level Ball and Ho-Oh was running out of PP, had the master ball and was very close to using it.






Ho-Oh has a Adamant nature and these are it's IV's:
HP: 29
Attack: 15
Defense: 9
Sp. Attack: 29
Sp. Defense: 14
Speed: 8

Checked it's Hidden Power and it seems to be Bug, gonna test it in the future. Very happy about this hunt.

I was gonna start hunting the legendary bird trio in SS/HG&FR after the Ho-Oh hunt was over but instead I'm gonna SR Suicune in SS&HG, Raikou and Entei are most likely gonna be the last legendaries I hunt tho, already have a bunch of net balls (since dive balls aren't easy to obtain) so let the hunt begin!

On a Shiny note.... I did some Horde encounters and found a Wingull... and ran away from it because I didn't hear the sparkle or see it. Why does the darn thing have to only have a small color difference. I had my headphones in the whole time but it must of been when I took them out for a second and walked away. UGHH no bueno

Anyways good luck to everyone else. Everyone seems to be getting lucky late with Shinys.

My 11 Lum Berries finished growing today and not one of them shook... This really sucks. Three days of the month have already been wasted, and now I have to wait for the berry trees to shake (and hope that they'll keep shaking). I think, because of this I will try and be more flexible and go for [F] Combee as well (So either Burmy or Combee will shine). I just finished filling up my entire Berry Field so hopefully a green or yellow tree shakes next harvest.

Well, now I have plenty of time for my other hunts. Collecting 90 eggs right now for my new MM hunt. (Six Pokemon, three of which are Bug Types in tribute to this month's community hunt) When I'm ready to begin hatching I'll dual hunt and get my Torchic SR hunt up to 11.5k.
