Official New and Improved General Shiny Thread

Hey all I have not been here for a while. Well I have gotten more shinies since my last post. Right so I think the last one I mentioned was shiny female espurr... well since then I have gotten three more shiny espurr, one female and two male also a 2nd shiny Xatu this time a female one and finally my target shiny Drowzee showed up last night. So that is 5 new shinies since my last post. I am so pleased. Do not even hate the multiple shiny Espurr either because I for some reason like shiny Meowstic so much. I am trying to find a few specific safaris to get all available safari pokemon shiny at the moment. Gone off MMing as I have gotten so few MMed shinies despite having shiny charm AND MMing as well as hatching quite a few 15 box runs with no shiny to show for it.

Hi everyone, and congratulations on all the new shinies! It's been a while since I've been able to do any proper hunting due to the last couple of weeks of four intense chemistry exams, but they are over now and I think they all went pretty ok! Freedom feels good!
This morning I'm back with some hunting, but I've got another new goal in sight (I can't seem to stick with the ones I plan - BQ's are too slow and I need sidehunts to keep me motivated).
HG BQ # 3 is at 4,470 SRs or 22,350 seen in the game corner
Y BQ # 3 is at around 1,500 REs
The new goal I have is a team of six which all follow the yellow/golden shiny theme. These aren't necessarily my favourite designs for shiny normally, but the thought of six of them together is highly compelling. I've decided that the team will be
Altaria
Mightyena
Arcanine
Azumarill
Luxray
Meowstic
Currently hatching Growlithes with morning sun, crunch, flare blitz and close combat! I'm very excited for what this team will look like in the end! It's a long hunt but I've got time, and with the shiny charm in X it shouldn't be too horrendous.

Shiny Houndour! It's female and pretty nice surprise. She has Impish nature and Flash Fire as ability. She is gonna become beautiful Houndoom, maybe even Mega Houndoom, if I get Houndoomite.

Congrats to everyone on their new shinies

After seeing Cyberra's image of their shiny Trevenant I decided to horde hunt for one of my own. After about an hour or so, out popped a shiny Foongus to the far left of the horde. She's female with a Timid nature and Effect Spore as her ability. She has no 31 IVs, was caught in a regular PokeBall and she's holding a Tiny Mushroom.

Speaking of shiny Geodude in hordes... I've caught it.

It wasn't planned because I was training so I don't have Telepathy+ Skill Swap combo as previous poster(s) mentioned. Though, it sounds pretty useful so thanks! I'll try it in future.

Yes, it was pretty stressful because of Magnitude. xD Luckily, one of them used it once and it wasn't powerful. They liked to spam Rock Blast...

4 shiny Pokémon are from Kalos... while 4 are from previous generations (Gyarados and Haxorus don't count). Odds are pretty raised in this generation, huh? Maybe I'll start to get shiny Honedge by breeding.

Last night I hatched my shiny Bunnelby after 569 eggs! It's female with an IV spread of 31|xx|31|xx|31|31. She ended up having Huge Power, so I'm really happy with it! Bunnelby is one of my favorite Pokemon from Kalos, and it's shiny form is really awesome.

Hexin' Wishes, congrats on your Charmander, but 520 SRs and "Finally" dont really belong in the same sentence! =o Are you aware of the odds? Dont want you to expect a shiny every 500 encounters/resets and be vastly disapointed when you find out the the odds are much worse than that. A 520 SR hunt is extremely quick and you should be praising Arceus with such a quick hunt! ^^

This so much. It always sorta irked me when people say finally after a short hunt.

Soo, I think I'm just gonna drop the berry tree hunt. My tree stopped shaking and I really don't feel like waiting hours to start SRing again; it's just too much of a hassle tbh. I'll just MM Burmy in the future and hope I get a male. For now I'll just focus on Flabebe and Mewtwo!

That really bothered me as well. Compared to others who have gone into the 10k or 20k looking for a Gen 1 shiny starter, 520 SRs with 1/8192 odds is extremely fortunate! I have a FR/LG hunt on hold right now, and they both sit at 1,250 SRs each. If I were to get a shiny soon I'd be extremely happy and grateful for such a quick hunt. Congratulations on your Charmander though! Just don't expect shinies with those odds to show up so soon.

So yeah, I was working on Combee for the community hunt just now and got up to 300 SR total when the berry tree stopped shaking. Was hoping to get it up to 500 but oh well. I planted rows of yellow and green trees so I'll get back into it when they begin to shake. Anorith is at 1,000 fossils revived now so I'll be working on Torchic and my MM hunt for the rest of the day.

Was hatching chimchar for my team. After getting the 6iv iron fist parent i was lloking for i collected my first batch of 360. Hatched 2 shines, on egg 63 and egg 336. Both are jolly natured, one has iron fist and 5ivs(missing def), the other has blaze and 6ivs(my firt perfect shiny!). Will move on to the final piece of my team, breloom, hopefully i get another early shiny.

I hatched around 40 more Minccino eggs last night and 30 more this morning, plus I did some random encounters for other Shinies in Y version. I'm thinking about postponing my random encounter Shiny hunt though so I can focus more on getting a Shiny Minccino instead.

ok, so I decided that I wanted to have a competitive party. so I chose my 6 pokemon, and took cubone out of the day care. I've been doing this all day, and I was just trying for a 6 iv beldum and I just decided that I had one that was 5 iv and good enough. so I decided to hatch just 5 more eggs and replace the pokemon in the day care. I went to lumiose and hatched them. I looked up to watch my brother shoot cops in grand theft auto 4 and then looked down and was actually really shocked - A SHINY BELDUM!!! 5 iv missing attack
oh god I don't even know how many eggs and random encounters I did today but I DON'T CARE!!! maybe some other time I'll hatch my cubone I've wanted.

Just a quick update, in the Poison FS in X (with Shiny charm) I found a shiny Ariados and caught it in a luxury ball, I'm still hunting Seviper in there.

Surskit MM hunt is still at 450 eggs, and I'm alternating the hunt with the CH due to the CH requiring me to stay SR-ing until the berry tree produce berries and stop shaking.
(basically, I only hatch eggs while waiting for a tree to shake, and if a tree does shake, I'll have to stop hatching and focus on the tree.....)

As for the CH, I'm at 1200 SRs and nothing yet. Currently I'm back to collecting Surskit eggs, waiting for another tree to shake

Got my shiny Pikachu! The shiny I was hoping for ^^ She only took me 2015 REs to get, so I'm super excited! Cant believe I actually just got this, she's gorgeous! Such an adorable shiny haha, I'm over the moon! Not nicknamed as of yet, and I'm also not sure if I should evolve her or not.. so suggestions on both fronts are very much welcomed!
She has a brave nature, for those interested in that xP I really dont care about my shinies' natures or IV's or anything like that.. Im just happy I get to love them ^^

Worked some on my other hunts as well, but i think i'll take a break for now and enjoy my Pikachu ^^

Been MM'ing miltank with the egg moves: present, dizzy punch, heart stamp, and double-edge. At 651 eggs so far, no shinies yet. I just hope she shines soon, as I want to try IV breeding for the first time, but ol' miltank and her Japanese blob of love are taking up the daycare. :/

I am very happy today. But first the other day I ended up getting another Volbeat on my Pokemon Y... not sure if I mentioned it in my last post. But yea now I have one on my X and Y from the berry field. And today I finished up hunting for either a Cacturn or Mightyena in the FS.

I was really hoping for a Cacturn to. Glad I saw it when I did and didn't just run away when not looking.

Didn't end there. I went to go check on my Berry Field again as I planted 2 more berries. One tree was shaking and was a Combee. Obviously I wanted the female and this is what I got after 218 SRs.

I'm super stocked I got the female one. Don't know if my Skitty's Cute charm ability really helped but yay!

GAH! I can't concentrate on this Charmander Hunt. It's partially because I am anti Charmander! I always have been. Never liked the hype for it and The special treatment it's gotten. So I am gonna give up on this hunt for now and start on something I actually really want.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! I GOT STUPID LUCKY TODAY GUYS! So as stated I gave up on Charmander cause REASONS and I decided to go after a Jolly Thunderpunch and Volt Tackle Pichu. And whilst getting everything ready I got a Shiny Adamant Pichu!!! I swear less than 100 eggs. SO CRAZY! My luck sometimes is really good or soooooooooooooooo very bad. It's a 4 IV with Att Def SpAtt and SpDef. So no need to redo it or anything since I just do Comp IVs for fun cause I'm a Min/Maxer lol.

Anywho, I'm almost sad at my rate of FS shinies... In terms of encounters. I found another Quagsire, and a Krabby, which brings my score to 7-8 in my First-To-Ten FS race with my mate. But this is what I'm seeing...
