Round 3 for houndour ended without a blue demon-dog showing itself. I'm about two and a half boxes into egg collection for round 4. I was right in guessing that this would be one of the longer hunts...
Tonight, though, I'm not gathering houndour eggs, nor am I horde hunting like I usually do at night. Black 2 is not even turned on. I'm concentrating solely on my espurr MM (I'm up to 974 eggs for male espurr now). I want to get it finished; I have a shiny honedge breeding request to work on next.
I've been stat-checking all the male espurrs I've hatched for the last 374 eggs, and not a single one has had more than 5IVs. Not sure about the 600 before that, since I hadn't thought to check... One thing I have noticed, though, is that every time I hatch a "relatively superior" male espurr, it rarely has more than 3IVs (usually HP, SpATK, and SpDEF), and never more than four (the fourth IV switches between DEF and SPD; I have yet to see ATK). Most of the "outstanding" espurrs are 4- or 5-stat, but always missing that one stat that would make them 6IV. It's a tad frustrating... I'm breeding two 5IV pokemon with opposing bad IVs (one missing ATK, the other missing DEF); you'd think one espurr male would have inherited all six good stats by now.
Edit: Holy scrap I just got my 6IV male espurr! It is NOT shiny, unfortunately... Sassy nature and Keen Eye, but still, 6IVs!

Man, I wish ya luck in that Espurr endeavor. It's not sounding like it's going your way. But watch, that one 6IV one will be the shiny. Luck will fall upon you.
I have been hunting Frogadier all night, finding one Shiny Quagsire on the way. I didn't record this one, as I only want a max of 2 of the same shiny on my channel, and I've already recorded two Quagsire captures.

After over a year and a half of trying on and off... I have finally obtained a shiny Chikorita. Now that I have done this I can actually play through Heart Gold for the first time.

Yesterday, after about two hours of hunting, I made it to 11,456 encounters on Route 32. I'm hoping that something will shine closer to 10,000 than 20,000, but we'll see how that goes... I've still got a long way to go in terms of the Badge Quest itself, so there's no point getting discouraged now

No freaking way, guys. Here I am, watching Desolation of Smaug, and just as I was about to finish up for the night, as the movie was coming to an end, Frogadier shines! It had Protean, which was even more amazing, however it's Bold. I don't even care. I got him. So happy. Now I can go back to trying for Heracross, after my next race, of course!

Ok, so I lied when I said Id stop hunting for the day yesterday. Was going to be doing some other stuff, but that fell through, so I had another few hours to hunt! I started dual hunting Route 2, with both X and Y games, and I got that up to 1300 REs, which isnt bad for a days work if I do say so myself. I wasnt going to hunt for that route on X because I dont like Weedle as much as Caterpie, but I figured what the heck, if I can love shiny Wormadam, I can love Beedril. As for Tepig, he's still refusing to shine, and he is now at 5370 SRs, meaning I did a total of 500 yesterday, which has been quite taxing on my wrist.. So not sure how long i'll be able to keep up momentum. Anyways, I really hope Tepig shines soon. I know 5370 isnt even close to the odds yet, but the SRs take sooo long, I want to be able to start that darn BadgeQuest already! xP

It was a good weekend of hunting for me. I found a shiny Psyduck in a RE horde on Saturday morning and a shiny Venomoth in FS on Saturday evening. Yesterday I had a passerby battle and registered a new FS. It is ground type with Dugtrio, Phanpy, and Gastrodon. I really want a Dugtrio and a Gastrodon, so I was pretty happy. Instead, I have already found my second and third Phanpys. On my White 2 I found a shiny Druddigon last night.

Yesterday was an extremely lucky day. There was a 14 hour power outage yesterday, to upgrade the system, so I was without power all day. I charged all my game systems the night before, and decided I was going to spend most it shiny hunting.
In Platinum, I was leveling Emperor my shiny Piplup in the Oreburgh gate. I was just randomly running around beating everything I saw, but a mere 5 REs later:
Shiny Psyduck appeared! Needless to say, I was stunned, I wasn't even hunting, I was just training my shiny to evolve xD. He was quite the bugger to catch, as I didn't have a Pokemon low enough, so I just lobbed Pokeballs at it until I caught it.

After I got shiny Psyduck, I spent most of my day SRing for a shiny Suicune in HeartGold. I was originally REing, but I got bored, so I started SRing Suicune. By this time the power came back on, so I started quad hunting, and one of the games hit paydirt:
Less than 800 SRs into the hunt, shiny Suicune appeared! Now this thing was HELL to catch, I ended up trading over 60 Dive Balls(which took forever), and pretty much blew through all of them.
I had Suicune down to Yellow HP and Paralyzed, so I was just lobbing balls at it. I was down to 12, so I crossed my fingers. One shake, two shakes, three shakes, *click*, shiny Suicune was caught! My Bold synch worked and shiny Suicune ended up with a Bold nature and it could have flawless HP.

I totally wasn't expecting either of these yesterday, but at least they made the power outage more bearable. Congrats to TheMaster on Silcoon, Nakashima on Pikachu and everyone else on their new shinies!

I was in a normal safari just to catch dunsparce and then suddenly a shiny smeargle appeared, it was the second time I have ever seen a shiny, it was crazy. I started lashing ultra balls at it but no luck. The worst part is that after it used sketch it started using struggle so its HP was going down pretty quick, I got really scared and I just had to use my master ball at the last moment possible, I don't regret it though
Edit: Just caught a shiny Emolga in the friend safari about 30 minutes after the smeargle, completely random! Is it just my weird luck or does friend safari have a higher shiny encounter rate?

Nice! And good thinking, springing for the Master Ball- as far as I'm concerned, that's exactly the kind of emergency one ought to save them for in the first place.
No luck in Connecting Cave yet, by the way. Also, I'm probably going to resume my XD hunt at some point this week. Finally, congrats to everyone else with new Shinies!
EDIT: No new Shinies to report yet, but I've overhauled my Shiny banner- finally replaced all the sprites with the 3D models from X/Y! Most of them I got from the main site's Pokédex, except the one for my Shiny Blue-Striped Basculin- that particular one isn't in the Pokédex, so I had to Google it. Also, the empty squares have grey backgrounds now instead of white.

Okay, so the fiancé and I need help breeding shinies. I need to know the best and quickest ways. I know of the Masuda Method and all with the differing countries of origin but I need to know what the highest probability is of breeding a shiny and how to achieve that. We are very close to getting the Shiny Charm.
So, do breeding two Pokémon that are shiny increase chances of producing a shiny?
Is there an easier way to tell than breeding and hatching? Like chain fishing that I've heard of? What's that?
Please help. We're looking to breed more shinies in the hope of one worthy of trading for an event Pokémon.
We already have shinies (obtained through trading) of Sunkern, Skarmory, Lugia, Torterra, Umbreon, and Flareon. If any of this info helps, let me know.

slowpokebroking, breeding two shinies does not increase the odds for finding a shiny (although I think it did in gold and silver?). And yes, chain fishing is a thing and it is super easy to do, but because it's so easy, those shinies don't typically grant very useful trades if that's what you're looking to do. I think sticking to Masudaing is your best bet.

Today, I decided to take a break from shiny hunting in White 2, and instead continue on my egg hunt for shiny Vulpix in Y. I picked up 95 eggs at the day care and went to Lumiose City to hatch them. After my longest Masuda hunt ever, a shiny Vulpix hatched at egg number 1293. Then, I got another one at egg number 1364!
Now, I can continue hunting for shinies at the Village Bridge in White 2.

No new shinies for me. I'm still trying for a shiny Zorua and I think I'm nearing at least 1,500 eggs, maybe more. I've decided to switch things up and instead of using a Japanese Ditto and American Zorua, I'm now using an American Ditto and a Japanese Zorua. The first pair was just getting me nowhere. I was finding it really hard to focus my mind on a suitable plan for smearing the honey on trees, and so decided to try and push my Cranidos hunt to a finish. I'm not at 6,500 SRs, and hoping for at least another couple hundred tonight. My BQ is on 700 REs, though currently that's just a side hunt whilst I try and finish Cranidos! I eve took my DS to school today to do some SRs, aha.
After Cranidos and the CH, I want to set myself the challenge of getting every fossil shiny I can (through SR) - so Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Lileep, Anorith, Cranidos and Shieldon. I like all of these a lot except for Omanyte - but I've got to try and complete the challenge! I might also throw Nincada in there, because due to Shedinja I always mistook it for a fossil pokemon.
I also managed to make myself a shiny card! It's in my signature c: I started to use SAI without realising - SAI doesn't have a font tool, so I had to write all the letters by hand! Oh well, I'm pretty pleased with it for now. It's a bit bright, I hope it's easily visible without any eye strain x_x.
Anyway, good luck to everybody hunting! As an off-topic curiosity, did anyone sit the AQA Higher Tier GCSE Maths paper today? It was absolutely horrendous.

I just got ANOTHER shiny! This is crazy lol, i've never had shinies back to back like this. 3 in 9 days is a LOT for me.
I was really hoping Tepig would be the next one to shine, but the little piggy still isnt feeling up to that quite yet. Instead, I got a shiny Pidgey on my pokemon X!
I'm thrilled to get this beautiful shiny ^^ She wasnt what I was hunting for, but I'm sure as hell not going to say no to a beautiful Pidgey!
Not sure which route I'll hunt next as a side hunt to Tepig, I dont want to risk doubles just yet, so I doubt I'll stay in the same route.

Skobby, the friend safari has a really high shiny rate. Congrats on your shinies though.

I just got ANOTHER shiny! This is crazy lol, i've never had shinies back to back like this. 3 in 9 days is a LOT for me.
I was really hoping Tepig would be the next one to shine, but the little piggy still isnt feeling up to that quite yet. Instead, I got a shiny Pidgey on my pokemon X!

I'm thrilled to get this beautiful shiny ^^ She wasnt what I was hunting for, but I'm sure as hell not going to say no to a beautiful Pidgey!
Not sure which route I'll hunt next as a side hunt to Tepig, I dont want to risk doubles just yet, so I doubt I'll stay in the same route.
