Oh my god guys!
I was just testing out what would be my Anorith's Hidden Power type in my Sapphire Nuzlocke when this beautiful shiny just appeared!

Because my battery ran dry on this Sapphire game cart, I kinda assumed it'd be impossible for me to get a shiny unless I started off with a shiny starter and an early shiny frame, so it caught me off guard big time!
I nicknamed her Sunshine because I knew what she would look like once she evolved into an Azumarill! Ooooh, I just love her! I always wanted a shiny Azumarill and I can get it now! She's also my first shiny on the third generation, I'm so excited!
She's Lonely nature, which isn't that bad and has Thick Fat as her ability. That will require some change once she gets to X after my Nuzlocke!

Now what does that mean ? A shiny Pokémon appeared on my Sapphire version with a dead internal battery. Can other shinies appear as well ?

Congratulations everyone for the recent shinies!

After a while, I'm back searching for my shiny petilil in White. I'm not counting the encounters, but since Saturday I searched for 10+ hours Dx
I'm pretty sure I have at least 40.000+ RE since I started to hunt, the only shiny I found was a random Swadloon when I tried to reach Virizion.

The Prince of May, The internal battery is just for resetting. you can still find shinies by random encounters.

Shinies can most certainly be found on a dead battery, I got a random Makuhita a while back in a similar vein, and a friend I know (just for reference) got multiple shinies in dead battery games. SRing is the only thing it affects.

To be honest though, people need to know that you CAN find shinies in dead battery games, but they cannot get Soft Resetted shinies -- unless the file has an early shiny frame. In Emerald, Running Away from legends also works like REing, so shinies can be obtained via RAing.

A lot of false information seems to be spread. It's even in the first post that shinies can be obtained, but people aren't checking the first post often enough...

I am right now hunting for a Shiny Wurmple on both Ruby and Sapphire. So...you are able to get shines the same way in Emerald, because I was told by someone that Emerald works differently than R/S.

Sorry for my cluelessness. It always confused me how shinies worked in RSE... ^^' I didn't realize up to now that it only mattered with soft resetted Pokémon, even though I looked at the main post many times.

Today, I was in a Friend Safari belonging to a good friend of mine, looking for a Female Quilladin with Bulletproof and an Adamant Nature. While looking for one, I found something else that I hadn't expected and wasn't looking for at all, but a very positive surprise nonetheless.

Getting good pictures from the battle was hard due to how much the camera moves around, but these will have to do. I also hope none of the first five are flipped, Photobucket decided to be a bit annoying today.

This is my first Shiny on X, and my first Shiny on 6th generation. It is also the second random Shiny Tangela I have gotten as I met one on FireRed earlier this year.

Things didn't end there though. I continued looking for the Quilladin I was after, and met something else I wasn't looking for.

This is the first time ever where have I met two random shinies in the same day. Never expected this to happen. Also, Lilligant is one of my favorite Pokemon and I didn't have a (randomly encountered) shiny Petilil before, so this was an even more pleasant surprise.

So havent been playing as much lately. I did pick up my Heartgold badge quest again. Hunting for that elusive 8th shiny to complete it.

Anyway, what do you all think if I added more locations for the CH? Since there are other beach areas.......

The locations I'm thinking to add are:

* Lilycove City & Mossdepp City (R/S/E), their beach is only place to obtain Pokemon in those two cities anyway
* Route 213 (D/P/Pt), it's also a beach
* Cyllage City & Ambrette Town (X/Y), for the same reason as Lilycove and Mossdepp

If all/most of you are okay with the addition, I'll add them in.

Ledyba is still proving elusive. A shaking liechi tree got me up to 10,140 SRs before it fruited, so now I'm waiting for the next red berry tree to start shaking.

Oh wow. Hope that Ledyba shines soon. Over 10,000 SRs......

For the past few days, I've been playing Y, I rented it to "Get all the Y exclusives" and today I thought..... How am I supposed to trade them....

I assume you meant the Mega Stones (since for the Pokemon you can just find them on the GTS or transfer them from Y to X via Bank)

In that case, find someone to help you?










As for my shiny news......I just wanted a few exp for my Salamence, so I entered a Friend Safari.....

This shows up.

I ended up getting called in to work today, but it was much more unusual…I was asked to go to the downtown location to help with the new bottle production! So that was a refreshing change, even though a significant amount of that time was using a glue gun to set up the boxes But I just thought to myself, “Shiny hunting has prepared me for such repetitive tasks!” So it was different, simple, relaxing…I didn’t mind.

And I still did 500 REs and 300 SRs today. 10,700 REs for Scyther, 1,500 REs for Aron/Axew/Boldore, and 12,100 SRs for Ho-Oh. I also did 30 SRs for Snivy while doing my last batch of 100 REs, so that’s at 1,210 SRs.

I've been really busy today and I haven't had much motivation to hunt, but I got a couple hundered SR's done today. But oh man, this hunt is really pushing me to my limit. 3305 SR's, with 9915 starters seem in total. By far, much more frustrating than my Chespin or Pumpkaboo hunt by far. I'm thinking that once I get to 4000 SR's i'm just going to give up. I've heard of people getting these things in under 700 SR's. So obviously i'll probably never get a shiny starter at this point. I don't even know why I ever thought it would be a good idea to start a BQ.

I'm so sorry about the rant, this hunt is just getting extremely discouraging, disappointing, sad, and I just don't know what to do. I probably really have no room to complain though, considering i'm sure that there have been SR Johto starter hunts that have gone on for much longer.

I've kinda lost count on the Ralts hunt considering i've paid so little attention to it. But i'll count all of them once I fill up my PC, write the number down, and then release them all so I can hatch more.

I put more effort into my random encounters for Shinies on Y version today and I encountered at least another 120 wild Pokemon along Route 4. I also continued my Shiny Electrike Masuda Method hunt and I hatched around 40 eggs and stored some more in my PC for tomorrow.

Hey everyone, unfortunately, I don't have any new shiny news. Still SRing for Mesprit in my White 2 and nothing yet. Was off for 3 days and go back to work tomorrow and was so hoping it would shine before I go back to work. Only at 4,600 SRs for it which I guess isn't close to the odds everyone mentions a lot. I don't know. It's just been a week since I haven't had a Shiny that it's a bit disappointing I guess.
Also working on SRing for the July CH on my Black 2 and it only sits at 1,771 so far. Would be awesome if they both shined for me at the same time. But when it does I'll reveal what Shiny I'm SRing in the game. Might all ready know which one.

Anyways, want to wish good luck to Cpchris on your hunt. Every time I see you post an update on your hunt, it keeps me wanting to keep going on mine. Hope you see something shine soon.

And to ThunderKnightSilver, you shouldn't give up. Trust me, I've wanted to with my current hunt but just keep going at it. I know it's hard but when it finally shines for you, it's totally worth it.

She came out of egg 2,501 ^_^ Her name comes from Greek mythology; Arachne was a weaver who boasted about being a better weaver than the goddess Athena and for it was turned into a spider.

I am now collecting eggs for lunatone, to go along with my shiny solrock.

Just what I wanted! After a total of 3,340 SR's, that's 10,020 total starters seen! I can't really believe it right now! I have named him, Rotodile, just for fun and because it sounded kinda cute. Unfortunately, he's a Modest nature, which isn't really good for a Totodile, but i'm not complaining! He also must have a really good defense IV because it has a stat of 12, and I fought a few Rattatas, and Rotodile can tank their hits like they were nothing! Anyways, here's a few pictures!

Been a long time since I've posted, but now I'm off college for the summer, I've picked up shiny hunting again. At the moment I'm switching between starter hunting on Sapphire and Soul Silver, since I want to start badge quests on those games.

Not much shiny news from me, but I want to get something off my chest here.. I know this will likely offend a lot of people, but I've been wanting to say this for a few weeks now, and I feel I should be free to express my opinion. In no way does this apply to everyone here, so dont feel too offended if I'm obviously not talking about you. =]

Why is it that a lot of shiny hunters these days seem to think theyre entitled to shinies way below the odds? When I started hunting, the community would see anything below a 7k hunt as very quick, as a surprise, as something to celebrate! Now all I see is entitled kids thinking they deserve a shiny after a few encounters or resets.. That's just not how it works you guys!! You need to keep the odds in mind! Anything you get thats below the odds should feel like an amazing gift you're getting. You newer hunters (generalised statement, you'll know if I mean you or not, obviously not everyone is like this.) seem to want shinies handed to you on a silver platter, to the point where you get sad if you dont get something after a day of hunting. Where has the old spirit gone? Where has the idea of actually enjoying the hunt gone? If you dont enjoy the hunt, it might be a better idea to RNG your shinies to be honest. Cause having this defeatist attitude about something you should've known can take a very long while.. it's just no good really. It not good for your own peace of mind, its not good for the encouragement of others, its not good for the shiny hunting community.

Remember, if something has a chance of 1 in 8000 of being shiny, you cant expect it to shine for you at 1k encounters. If you do, you'll very likely be left disappointed and discouraged. Where if you approached your hunt expecting it to go over the odds, you'll be thrilled to bits if it does shine for you relatively quickly! Your mindset changes a lot about how your hunt will make you feel, so if you approach it with a positie attitude, and with patience, you'll end up feeling a lot more satisfaction from a completed hunt. And if your hunt does go long and over the odds, sure that is discouraging, but know you'll always end up getting it if you just dont give up. I know of someone here that didnt quit her Charmander hunt, and ended up getting it at some point after 400k SRs. That is some hardcore dedication, and I can only imagine the joy she must've felt when she finally got that to shine. Just goes to show that it does pay off in the end.

Again, I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but this seems to really be the new trend and I felt I needed to speak my mind.
