Don’t know if anybody lives in Baltimore, but the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed after a container ship hit one of its support columns.
Just texted my support to a paramedic working in the area, and he has asked me to pass on the following message to those living close by.
Please ask any loved ones to avoid tying up the dispatch lines and
not call 911 unless it’s a real medical emergency. EMTs, firefighters, and other services are stretched to capacity and are literally deploying buses. The county/city and mutual county apparatus are currently all being deployed to the scene for mass-casualty rescues but there are still calls flooding in for chronic back pain, stubbed toes, stomach aches, fevers, headaches, neck pain, and other non life threatening emergencies.
May we show our support to the heroes who are working to save lives there… emergency and hospital services have been our strongest heroes especially since COVID came to the world’s doorstep.
Thank you for reading this message.
