• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future

~ Official Pokémon News Discussion Thread ~ [POST POKEMON NEWS HERE]

Urm...okay.

Key stuff to take away from this would be:
• Alola form Pokémon (Vulpix/Ninetales become Ice; Exeggutor becomes part Dragon; Sandshrew/slash become Ice/Steel)
• more new Pokémon, some of which look great, some, well...need a bit more time to grow on me. Yungoosh looks like it's clearly become the a Republican candidate when it puts its arms around its back, though!
•the super moves are Z-Moves which can be used once per battle. Meh.
• the Island Challenge sounds pretty cool. Covers everything from battling trainers to finding items and having knowledge! Hopefully some stuff the website hints at means we're heading to another region after...
• soaring all but confirmed by a very smartly timed cut away after we see the trainer climb onto Charizard's back!

Tomy have also announced a Z-ring accessory which will be released on the date of the games, which will vibrate and flash when a Z-Move is used in game. Darn, kids these days get it all...

Whats wrong with variety?

I don't mind their appearance (except for Exeggutor), but it doesn't make much sense for Alola!Sandslash/Alola!Ninetales to be part Ice-type in a region warmer than the regions normal variations inhabit.

So, has the denial squad assembled yet to defend there being ''mega evolutions'' in this game?
Stone and bracelet are for Z moves xD Instead of mega evolutions, which are gen 6 exclusive stuff, we get Alola evolutions.
THANK GOD FOR ALOLA EVOLUTIONS!
This just shows us that GF truly cares about what fans want. I was blind before but now I see.
They knew that we wanted mega Audino.
They knew that we hate postgame content so no Battle Frontier.
And now they knew that we want this instead of mega evolutions. Put your faith in GF, my friends, because you DON'T NEED mega evolutions. What you DO NEED is an Exeggutor with a dick!
(that's not a dick...well, it sure looks like in the jap trailer)

So, my only hope is that a Vulpix transferred to Sun and Moon doesn't automatically become an Ice-type.

If both forms exist, I will be quite fine.

Well, that was extremely interesting!
Gotta go and comment on all the highlights of this new trailer! :D

It's most likely going to be location-based. Vulpix hatched/encountered on the snowy island will always be the Ice variation, for example.

So Z-Moves are based on the pokemon's type and not his species. That's kind of dumb, bc giving strong Z-moves to weak species and not so strong Z-moves to OP species would balance things out, at least a little bit.

Why would it? It would make sense if it is for native Vulpix and Ninetales that are born in Alola or in those icy parts to look like that. Transferred Vulpix would not be born in Alola, so no mutstion could happen.

Anyways, I loved the trailer. Alola Exeguttor gave me nightmares, I would crap my pantd if I ever met those face to face. Ninetales and Vulpix are GORGEUS, I simply love them. Rest of things were great too

So, just because Z-moves are a thing that means that Megas and it can't coexist?

Boy oh boy, when they announce the newest OP Mega Evolution at World's, you'll never be able to post a message without being met by the fact you were a ME sceptic for Sun and Moon based on literally nothing.

Both sides of the argument are based on literally nothing. Your side argues that there will be ME because they've existed before and I say that just because they've existed before it doesn't mean that they won't be a gen 6 exclusive stuff like
Alola evolutions will be Alola exclusive.

It's very well explained. Darwin would be proud.

"It is said that Vulpix came to the Alola region together with humans, but the Fox Pokémon moved to the snowy mountain peaks to avoid the normal habitats of other Pokémon, and thus it ended up taking on this form."

Just saw the trailer for myself and seeing how everybody else is putting their opinion down on this thread, I thought I might as well share mine -

Over here in England, there's something called Marmite (or Vegemite if you're Australian). It's something you spread on toast to give it some flavour. The public has a very love/hate relationship with the spread, and I can see why - it's unusual and very difficult to describe to people who haven't tasted it for themselves.

That is how I feel about the latest trailer and the content GF have put into Sun/Moon.

The first thing I wasn't expecting was the sudden announcement that certain types would be given new forms. This was more intriguing than anything else - and I liked how they made Sandshrew look like an igloo! I don't understand why they made Exeggutor a Dragon type, though.

Next was the new Pokemon. Two that particularly stuck out to me were the meteorite Pokemon and the donkey Pokemon (two things, of which, I have been wanting for years in a Pokemon game). I will definitely consider using at least one of them on my team at some point.

I'm not really too bothered by the battle crystals - I'm not a competitive battler so I don't think I'll be using them (if any at all).

Then there was replacing gym leaders. This is the thing that stuck out to me the most - that they've actually changed the formula a little bit. I don't think this is a bad thing - variety is the spice of life, after all! And to me it sort of hearkened back to the days of Pokemon Colosseum/XD (speaking of which can we have another game like that GF? kthxbai), which definitely gets my attention.

I'll definitely be keeping my eye on Sun/Moon now, it'll be interesting to see what they show us next!

I never saw definitive evidence that there wouldn't be Mega Evolutions.

Yeah, there isn't proof in what you are saying.

THANK GOD FOR ALOLA EVOLUTIONS!
I think Exeggcutor is the only one that would be an Alola Evolution, since they never show an altered Exeggcute (as opposed to the icy Vulpix and Sandshrew formes).

This just shows us that GF truly cares about what fans want. I was blind before but now I see.
"What fans want". There is no consistency with those words.

They knew that we wanted mega Audino.
It is pretty I must say.

They knew that we hate postgame content so no Battle Frontier.
We should contact Game Freak with all the assumptions we made for them.

And now they knew that we want this instead of mega evolutions.
Once again, nothing has been established for this.

Put your faith in GF, my friends, because you DON'T NEED mega evolutions. What you DO NEED is an Exeggutor with a dick!

Absolutely. If I'm wrong, I'll readily admit it.

I'm not saying Mega Evolution will be the main focus, at all. I think we'll get a lot less this time around than in Gen VI (about 15), but they will absolutely be present in my mind, if only because there will be riots as certain Pokémon in certain groups have been missed (final starter evolutions and pseudo legendary Pokémon, for example).

The Grass expert chick is in the leaked artwork for the starters' final evolutions, so those are basically confirmed.

What a glorious way to end my mini hiatus. They're changing the game up, and I love it! Also, the fact that the Chinese Leaks and especially the leaked starters a seemingly coming true is just beautiful!
