    Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
    Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
    Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.
  • Hi all. We had a couple of reports of people's signatures getting edited etc. in a bad way. You can rest assured this wasn't done by staff and nobody has compromised any of our databases.

    However, remember to keep your passwords secure. If you use similar passwords to elsewhere which has been accessed, people and even bots may be able to access your account.

    We always recommend using unique passwords, and two-factor authentication if you are able. Make sure you're as secure as possible

That's my point exactly.

DameDiamond and PrincessPearl on 3DS in 2018 (or even 2017) would be insane. That doesn't mean you're getting them as the premiere game in the NX launch window, though.

The 3DS is largely being propped up by little more than late localizations at this point. After SM, there's just what, more Dragon Quest? Releasing last-gen games is fine if the hardware is backwards-compatible, but NX doesn't appear to be. Asking players to carry around two dedicated gaming handhelds at a time when Nintendo is struggling to get people to carry around one because Game Freak wants to put DameDiamond and PrincessPearl on obsolete hardware months after the core userbase has moved on is a hard sell, even for them. Hence, the plausible shift in release strategy.

But because of BW2 it wouldnt be insane. I guarantee next year will either be a third version(s) or gen 4 remakes on the 3ds. We won't get the first nx pokemon until gen 8 at least until 2018.

BW2 played on 3DSs. 3DS games probably won't play on NX.

That's a fairly massive distinction, whether you acknowledge it or not.

It's the upgraded xbone.


And I'm honestly 100% sure there won't be an nx pokemon until gen 8 until 2018. Even if the nx isnt BC for some reason which we dont know for sure yet, it won't matter.

I wish Nintendo would clear everything up by revealing what the NX is exactly. Perhaps during a Nintendo Direct. I have a hunch there will be one this month.

It kind of needs to be for nintendo's sake because if it really is coming out in march, they cant afford to miss things in september like Tokyo game show, pax, and afew other things like that, plus to get news out before holiday.

Yeah I agree with this. Though, they could always add some neat little features that are maybe exclusive to the NX as a nice incentive for the ports.

I hope it's September too, however, from what I've read Nintendo never goes to TGS and would most likely do a private press event for NX separately from any of these events. But I agree, it would be very good for them if they do unveil early enough so that developers at TGS, PAX, etc can show off games and keep the hype going.

Yeah, I've had my money on September for a while now, but not a specific gaming conference/convention. Nintendo loves to wait for everyone else to announce their stuff first before dropping something pretty big (although we all knew Zelda was coming to E3, it absolutely stole the show being shown a few days after all of the "mainstream" AAA games). Seeing as we know we're getting the PS4K/4.5/NEO at TGS, I'll be surprised if we don't have the NX reveal in a Nintendo Direct within a week of the show finishing.

I haven't seen anything around which would confirm it to be a trailer more so than just a batch of new information on the website, though following recent trends I think it's safe to assume that a video will be released. As for what it will cover? Considering that Mimikyu and Bewear were revealed in CoroCoro last month and then that was taken a step further with official website information, game footage and being shown alongside other new Pokémon and features, I think it's safe to say that whatever we get in CoroCoro will be shared - officially - alongside any other new pieces of information.

And, seeing as we're getting some sort of focus on the region of Alola this time around in CoroCoro, I'd personally like to see some brochure type trailer, showing off some of the landmarks and possibly naming the two remaining islands.

They always show a trailer when they announce it. It's usually detailed as "information" rather than " a new video" but it is almost always without fail a video.

For the most part, yes. The last three years had it come out on the 8th twice and the 10th once.

Edit: I fixed a small error, but R_N gave a more comprehensive list.

Yes

The leaks always come out earlier because either people get it early, or its snuck off while it's being printed (I believe this is why the scanlation sites for manga always get them like a week early). Shifting up the release date shifts all that, so...

Anyway, taking a look at the past August archives:
2015 (the off year, squishy in xyz; more super mystery dungeon info) - 8/10
2014 (ORAS pre-release, lots of megas & cosplay pikachus) - 8/8
2013 (XY pre-release, first reveal of megas and some other stuff) - 8/8
2012 (BW2 had already come out by this point, corocor just detailed stuff we already knew) - 8/9
2011's corocoro probably leaked but had no information in it, since it's not detailed anywhere

I'm pretty sure it's consistently between the 8th - 10th assuming people care about it leaking.
