Some thoughts on the games, broken down by category:
1. DP remakes
- Overall: seems ok. They're experimenting with different things (mostly dealing with criticisms for SWSH) so props to them.
- Third party developers: they're allowing other developers to do main series games. Personally I see this as a step in the right direction, since Gamefreak's developers are under-skilled for a game in 2021 - imagine Monolith Soft being in charge of the next remake, maybe we'll get the first pokemon rpg since 2013 that does not frame drop.
- Graphics & art design: looks really shitty atm, but it would be surprising if the clips we've seen in the announcement are final footage - they still have a couple months to tune the shading & coloring. Chibi shouldn't be too concerning, it looks bad now bc graphics are below average - but even if it is just plain bad, on the grand scale of things chibi should be a very trivial concern: if the story, graphics, combat & system are all top-notch, would you really care about your over-game avatar feeling off, right?
- Remakes or remaster: not enough info yet, they've shown us nothing. Maybe we'll get a lot of new content, maybe its just the same 2007 game with 2013 graphics. Who knows.
2. Legends
- Overall: amazing story & idea, very hyped.. cant wait to start exploring. hope they actually can execute the idea well
- Graphics & art design: art is top notch as always, but the graphics still feel subpar - as of expected from GF. Good news is that they have 1 whole year to tune & make it better; however,
- Performance: Unless they butcher the system/graphics further, I do not see this game being released on the Switch while running above 10 fps.
