One thing about Wi-fi and my computer I fell I should mention. I have played Wi-Fi a lot and because of quitters my scores have gone up and down, yes that includes wins too, not just losses. I am not a quitter and in the time that I have played Wi-Fi when I have been using it the computer has frozen twice. When my two brothers have been using it this has also happened twice. It is unlikely that this will happen as it has only happened in two races with me but if it does feel free to disqualify me if you need to, or if your nicer than that wait for my computer to reboot and we could race again :p although this could change who was going to win, so I suppose disqualiforcation for the quitters and computer freezing randomly.

Just thought I should mention it, you never know we may actually have a quitter here :p.

If someone quits, that's an instant loss for them, no exceptions.

A question I have - what's the tournament's stand on snaking? I personally don't snake; I think it would be fairer on everyone if we had a no-snaking tournament to give less-experienced players a better chance. :) But it's up to you!

Personally, I snake, so it will be allowed :( sorry if that disappoints anyone.

Can I just chip something in?
I have nothing against snakers (in fact well done to them), but there really isn't much point in anyone who can't snake competing if it's allowed is there? I wouldn’t say I’m one of the best or worst MKDS player, but if there’s one thing I haven’t mastered yet it’s snaking (after playing almost non-stop since Christmas Day). Not to toot my own horn, but against non-snakers I usually do well (if they don’t quit) and my friends have stopped racing me because they’re a bit fed up of loosing, however no matter how much I try a good snaker usually has a large advantage. OK sure someone who can't snake is more likely to get red/blue shells and other great items, but in my experience it doesn't even the playing field out much. Now I know it's only fair that someone who took the time to master snaking should use the technique, (which is why I have no problem with people using snaking during a tournament), however I don't see the point of mixing snakers and n-snakers because the chances way heavily against n-snakers from my experience.

Of course we could go down the route of saying there should be a tournament for mini-turbo boosters and non mini-turbo boosters (feel free :p ) but IMO snaking provides a much bigger advantage than just boosting on corners, plus most people can easily master this technique.

As I say I'm not having a go at snakers or saying it's impossible to win them (had a few ties myself :) ), but maybe there could be a tournament for snakers and one for non-snakers? Snakers could enter both and not use the technique in the n-s races, it's just a thought.

Some n-snakers may feel perfectly confident racing a snaker, in that case it's entirely up to them, but that's just my view.

I agree with what you said, Peeko. :) The only reason I brought it up was to try and make it a fairer contest and not give some people who can snake an unfair advantage. I have nothing against snakers going against snakers, but if one player is a non-snaker I think it would be fairer if everyone played that way.

Just my two cents. XD (or pence, since I'm English. :p)

A tornament such as this is judged by your skill on the game. Yes, luck is involved, but mostly skill. Snaking takes skills. I personally think snaking should be permitted, even though I can't do it. Those people that don't like snaking and say it should be banned are like those people that think Blissey is uber, they can't handle it, so instead of finding a way to handle it (like using Heracross, which can annialite Blissey) they complain about it and try to get it banned. Try snaking yourself. If you can't do it, much skill is needed for it and my point is proven. If you can, then well, use it and win!

I don't snake, yet I've beaten plenty of people who do. If we ban one perfectly legal way of getting one up on your opponent then we should ban all the others too..

Everyone must use the same character in the same kart
No one's allowed to turbo start because some people might not be able to
And you can sure as hell forget using any weapons other than bananas and green shells!

See, now it's just silly. It's perfectly legal, anyone can do it, if you can't do it and think not being able to is going to put you at a horrible disadvantage and there's no point in playing, then either learn or don't play. We're not talking about some uber super hacking cheat of doom here. I'll be happy to take on any snakers without using the technique, though I might do it just for fun, we'll see how I feel on the day of my match.

I don’t think all variables need to be ruled out. The game provides enough karts at the start (with pros and cons) and someone not happy with just the starting karts probably hasn’t played the game much. As for items? What? That’s just based on luck (and kart item score) luck is luck.

As I said 2 tournaments was just an idea. And I never complained (assuming the above posts are aimed at my comment) I just suggested 2 tournaments, it’s really not a big deal. I just take the view that of all the variables snaking is the one which provides the greatest advantage (and it’s pretty huge). But why not? They mastered it and I agree they should be able to use it. I just thought a tournament where people could have a non-snaking race would include a wider range of people. After all most players have probably mastered mini boosts on corners and unlocked a lot of content. If people don’t agree then that’s fine, however (assuming your comments were aimed at me) don’t go putting words into my mouth (i.e I don't think it's cheating and I'm not complaining).

I'm not saying someone who can't snake (or can't snake well) finds it impossible to win someone who can and I'm not saying people wouldn't want a race with snakers, it was just a suggestion. (I wasn't planning on entering so don't change anything on my account btw)

Not at least for another week, we need a lot more people to sign up... seems like we may only have a 16 man bracket.
