i have a decent understanding of the magikarp method for shinies but want to know if i can use it with certain pkmn. i have a shiny hasty seel in HG and X. i first first got the shiny in HG but i dont transfer the shinies to newer games unless i dont care much for them/have duplicates. i usually breed duplicates in newer games to keep the older teams intact.

i just got a male 5IV modest psyduck and i have a normal 5IV male hasty dewgong from gen6. i'll have to breed a female one to transfer the premier ball but is there a way to do a magikarp method with water 1 egg groups? magikarp in water 2 egg group so i think i'll have no choice but go normal MM unless i put a magikarp with a ditto (D-knot) and put seel in the pair when a shiny comes along. are the gender and shiny odds guaranteed with the magikarp method? im hoping for a female shiny seel. do i neccesarily need to remove the fish from the ditto pairing while i hatch the 30 eggs?

They explained it on the page before, but I will re-explain:

Official site will release a serial code for the Pikachu. Which hat it will have depends on when you download it (Google search will bring you the distribution, starts from Sep 19th). You can only download it once (read as: per save file).

In USUM, there is a separate QR code for that hat Pikachu, which is being given out with the showings of the movie.

I think it's not a serial code, but a QR Code on the official Pokemon site that you scan. So pretty much similar to getting Magearna when you look at it.

As long as you aren't swaping to a pokemon with a different gender ratio than Magikarp's 50:50, you will definitly get the same gender and yes, it will still be shiny.

You don't have to remove the Magikarp, but it throws off the 30 count if you don't because another egg will generate while you're hatching. You should be depositing the parents, collecting 30 eggs, removing the parents, hatching any remaining eggs, and then saving the game if there was no shiny in the batch. Then you repeat.

thank you for the reply, so at the worst i would lock in a shiny magikarp egg if i dont remove the magikarp when i save the game.

To explain what Nintendo Customer Service told me, the department has recognized the problem, and they are working to get all the codes out by the 18th of September.

about the celebi code Issue (missing receipt), I may have discovered a possible cause for the issue of not getting the code.

I was checking my account activity on my 3ds and noticed something was odd. Like a few other people, I too was missing my receipt for Pokemon Gold and wanted to know why. As I started scrolling through I discovered other purchases were missing their receipts too. So I went further back to the point where I could see receipts again.

This point would up being the date of Feburary 25th 2017 with the next action on my account being "Balance Adjustment" on March 3rd. The release date of the Nintendo Switch and the same day I linked the Switch to my e-shop account.

After that date the e-shop on both the 3ds and wii u were no longer keeping a proper record of my transactions and balance history, and just listed what was bought when.

If you are having the problem of missing your receipts, including for pokemon gold and silver, Let Nintendo know if you have "Balance Adjustment" listed on your account activity.

and before you say to take this to Nintendo, I already have and just want to help with figuring things out so you can report the issue to them too if you have it.

When the egg is created, the game determines whether ability slot 1, 2, or 3 (the hidden ability slot) is selected for the egg. There are different chances for results based on the genders of the parent(s) with the hidden ability.

When you make the swap out the parent Magikarp for your desired parent, if the new parent has the same gender and hidden ability status (aka, both the Magikarp and the new parent are the same gender and both have their hidden ability), then whatever the baby Magikarp would have hatched with will be the same for the new baby. If you're changing genders, there is a possibility of things changing. If you switch to a pokemon that doesn't have its hidden ability, then the egg can't possibly have the hidden ability. If the Magikarp parent didn't have its hidden ability, you won't know what ability will spawn.

They're definitely being very vague over what kind of code it would be, at least for the ones outside of the M20 Pikachu.

thanks, i got 4 pkmn i want to be shiny and only 2 need the HA on them. i;ll just switch out the current magikarp for a HA karp.

The code will only work once and will give you whichever Pikachu is active at the time, so choose wisely. Original Cap Pikachu is first and current, obviously.

You can trade Pikachu itself, but not the Pikashunium Z since Z-Crystals can't be traded.

i like putting together some weird pkmn sets and sometimes have crazy ideas on the spot for some random pkmn i catch at times. i have a maractus with 3 good IVs (forgot which ones) but its an SPA hindering nature. im planning to put 3 -4 ORAS move tutor on it and wondering if drain punch or poison jab is better off in gen7. its just a random 3IV (3 star) i chained on a mirage island so no egg moves are on it.

Yes, you can use the code after resetting. The pikachu can be put into the bank too!
