• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

Okay, so I leveled my Marshadow to Lv 100 and took it to the Effort girl in the Battle Royal Dome for the Effort ribbon and she says it still can put a bit more effort. But how am I supposed to do that since it hit Lv 100? Can someone explain this to me?

Effort Ribbon is awarded when you've got 510 EVs on your pokémon, it has nothing to do with level.

Last time I checked EV are gain regardless if it is level 100 it's sort of a auto thing. So you shouldn't worry so much.

You're right. I looked it up, they changed that in Gen V that now even level 100s get EVs from battles. Before that you only got EVs when you also got experience from the battle.

So I have been late to the whole Ash Pikachu thing but which Ash Pikachu is recommended for me to get in terms of competitive? Kalos cap or Alola cap?

I don't think there's really any difference in competitive viability between the two. They're both nature-locked on Hardy, they both have the Static ability, and they have the same movesets of Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Iron Tail, and Electro Ball. The only difference is that Alola Cap is distributed at level 20 while Kalos Cap is distributed at level 17.

is a scrappy swellow a suitable counter to Mimikyu and is there any condition to 1HKO that mimikyu?

I wouldn't say it's a counter. Swellow is so frail it can't really switch on anything and Mimikyu has that Disguise to survive the first hit. There are better options out there. Try Skill Link Cloyster for instance. Cloyster has a lot of physical bulk, and can use Icicle Spear to get big damage. The first hit breaks Disguise and the next four hits deal damage.

thanks, i do have a cloyster set that i rarely use as i didnt find space on most of my teams. i like the cloyster but im hoping to surprise the opponent, cloyster is an obvious skill link. will a swellow be an obvious scrappy to the opponent? can scrappy swellow 1HKO any mimikyu with a busted disguise ie poison orb facade. its more of a situational gimmick i'd like to try once in a while as i got a few problems with mimikyu vs my team. i run some weird sets that are meant to surprise movests/pkmn and the swellow is a pet project im working on.

i know a swellow isnt the first choice to KO mimikyu but my battle style is to try and fool opponents thinking they have a safe switch-in and see otherwise. its not the most effective style i admit but its fun for me to see the results.

I've got an important trade order to fill and I have a breeding question. If an aloan form shares the same HA as the regular form if I breed the female regular form with HA will the offspring aloan form have the HA? also for checking abilities in sos battle if I use entrainment will it show me the old ability before it swaps it? Thanks!

I believe the answer is yes to both of those questions! :)

Thanks so much!! One last question, if a normal form has a different HA from alolan form and breeds can the alolan baby have the alolan only HA?

This question is confusing, but the offspring will have whatever HA is appropriate for the form. You're not gonna end up with an Alolan Vulpix with Drought when you breed it from two normal Vulpix haha, it's gonna have Snow Warning.

Mega Lopunny might be better in that regard. Faster, better attack and still has Scrappy. Can also use Encore to mess up Swords Dance and force it out, or Fake Out to flinch the disguise hit and then Return (not sure if it would KO but MLopunny is a better Scrappy Mon).

thank you for the reply. i usually run M-Gardevoir on my team and havent really tried any of the new megas released in ORAS. i usually tried a few megas released during XY and i only used a few lesser used megas. ive run a normal lopunny in gen6 before. i did come up with 1 pkmn that hindered mimikyu in the gen7 cometitions. i ran a choice specs HA minun (BC its cute and fun to use) with nuzzle/switcheroo, sure its a 2 stage plan but it was fun as hell.

Excellent point. And why I still want to try it in the tree. I believe mold breaker would invalidate the disguise. But yeah, he's a beast.

Just imagine him...with a focus sash. Even if u type advantage train WRECK the Mimikyu...you still gotta tag it 3 times. Do you have any idea the dmg that could be dealt in that time?

the problem lies with the disguise, you'll have to break it first. facade healthy gives 43-53% vs 90-106% (100% hp mimikyu) when scrappy has status

77-91% brave bird vs full health mimykyu.

the fun lies more if they have a ditto and you have both mimikyu and swellow. disguise dont work on a ditto/mimikyu so it takes damage on 1st hit.
