I have a question: I saw on the main site that Houndoor and Houndoom was aveilable in X, but in the Mega Evolution thread it said it was in Y. Which one is it really?

Houndour and Houndoom are exclusive to X. Its Mega Stone, however, is exclusive to Y.

The pokemon itself can be caught in X but the mega evolution stone is in Y so you need a trade partner for that.

Sadly the only way is when it actually starts evolving. I don't think there is a way to check it in game. Of course I could be wrong but I think that's the only way.

keep walking around lumiose city. I got it just walking around there. Try walking in the north, but stay in lumiose.

Do the Battle Maison, beat your rival, then Sycamore will call you to upgrade your mega ring. After you upgrade g back and Looker should call.
