Old Characters in PM2019

PAUL, PAUL, PAUL.

If this tournament doesn't feature a battle with Paul, then it's complete and utter illegitimate. If there's one thing a character like Paul would join, it's a global fighting extravaganza. If he's not in, well, then we need to reassess how many tough trainers ALSO haven't joined and that turns the whole thing illegitimate since you obviously wouldn't be able to call yourself the strongest if trainers like Paul or Tobias for instance wouldn't join.

So... Lillie and Gladion still don't have a resolution regarding the Mohn-plot. I'm kind of expecting them to get it in this series as opposed to a special since we've kinda moved on from that at this point.

Also, yeah. Drake (OI) would be awesome to see again. I would laugh so hard if he's in the Top8-bracket, but if he were to be a part, then at least in the Top100.
If Drake is in TOP 8, it would probably be one of the happiest days of my life.

Shijima is among my least favorite Jouto Gym Leaders, so his return doesn't exactly hit the spot. I'd rather see Akane, Matsuba, or Hayato return, although I understand why Shijima was chosen given his type specialty. Still, this would've been a great time to introduce Renbu instead since he's also a Fighting-type specialist.
Imagine an episode focused on Gengar (Ash) and Matsuba Gengar, which contributes to the Development of this Pokémon

It could happen I suppose, although I still think that Onion will have a Gangar if/when he appears, and to me it would make more sense for him to have an impact on Satoshi's Gangar. If I'm being honest, the fact that they didn't show Matsuba when Satoshi and Gou visited Enju City a while ago pretty much implies to me that the writers likely won't bring him back in the future since they already missed the perfect chance to do so.

In all honesty I don’t think that just because a specific character didn’t show up when Ash and Go went to their hometown necessarily means that the writers s don’t have plans for that character to appear at some point.

All it means is that they didn’t have plans for that character to appear in that specific episode, but it’s doubtful that they would let that stop them from using them in future episodes.

If anything is the opposite. They were willing to have Ash fight Lt. Surge again, they just didn't do it because the VA wasn't available but that means they don't care if they have to bring a Gym leader back.

Was this confirmed in an interview or something?

Except they got Tachiki to voice Surge in Masters, so he's clearly available. Plus, if the Ludicolo in the OP really is Brock's, he'll have to come back to voice it again.

That depends on if they bother to finish that story arc (poor dope)

Honestly given the fact that they bothered to bring it up again in this series even though they didn’t have to, means that it’s probably likely that they will finish that story arc during this series. Or heck they even if Lillie hadn’t returned they didn’t really have to specify that she was looking for her Father.

Because if you think about it they could have already had Lillie and Gladion already back in Alola by the time Ash had returned to Alola.

Do you think Mohn is probably going to be somewhere in the Galar Region or do you think he’s somewhere else?
Well if they want to tie in CT, he could be there, but he can also be somewhere else that is anime exclusive. So if he is Galar then i think he can appear in CT or he is in an anime exclusive area. That’s my prediction.

Everything is hit or miss at this point, but I'd bet we'll never see mohn

I doubt that, considering the fact that they went out of their way to bring up the fact Lillie and Gladion are still looking for their father and are getting closer to finding him, even though they didn’t have to bring it up would suggest that it’s probably likely will see Mohn during Pokémon Journeys.
