Old Ideals/Mechanics we Want to Return

Zora

Yes I am well aware of the gameplay thread, but this is soley focused on what old mechanics we want to return. Give a good suggestion, make sure that it has potential to happen, and give a short reason why. Also anything Hoenn only as of now will be considered an old mechanic except if used many times in other third generation games like natures.

Okay:

Duegeon for each individual legendary (trio):
This made it more interesting in kanto. To get Articuno you had to go through an ice game, Zapdos a Power Plant, and well Moltres is different in the first generation. In this one he had Mt. Amber.

Mods: If you feel this topic should remain in the gameplay thread, by all means close it and say "Go to gameplay sticky."

Day and night is obvious. I don't think anybody doesn't want it to return. The only problem is that people could change the DS clock to get to things faster. I would also like the berry trees from G/S/C. That way, the berry would regrow every day rather than every other day in R/S/E or however many days it takes a berry to regrow.

I'd like to see the Apricorn system from GS come back. You know, find a tree (or even grow them with your berries?) take it to someone, wait a few hours, get a new Pokeball.

It'd be nice if you only had to do it once per ball, and could just buy in bulk after that, though.

I tottally agree with the others, so day and night and the apricorn system, also the places of the legendary trio are important.
Now I will say myself what I like to return if it really is a game mechanic, I find there must be a game corner, a dept store that sells stones (maybe some new ones too, like moon and sun I mean or just totally new ones, and as an addition to it maybe something to buy things like metal coat?
I also want the moves like headbutt to return, I mean the effect, because you can have lots off different pokemon in an area with this (and day/night) making it easier to make a team you like.

.. and we wonder why G/S/C was just that awesome. I think it's funny that most of the talk about D/P always ends up bring ideas back that were lost in the Johto region.

Anyways, I completely agree. The day/night system brought a sense of reality to the game, and the apricorn system .. was, well, interesting enough to bring back.

;227; Because as you said, G/S/C was just that awesome. ;)

I'd have to say that I would like to see Apricorns again, but this time melded with the Berries from Hoenn. You can plant either a Hoennian Berry or an Apricorn, and they both work the same way. After you've picked the Apricorn(s) the tree disappears.

And please bring back the days of the week from G/S/C.

Ooh, I forgot about the days of the week, the time, and small things like that. That made my day.

Or how about the system by which your mother saved you money? Instead, let's make it better...

...a bank account. Eventually your little protagonist will advance far enough in his or her journey and hit the bank. Here, you can learn about how the interest accumulates (4% compounded weekly or something like that, likely to be different depending on your plan) and what you need to know in establishing your first bank account. At first, the maximum amount of money it can hold is very meager at P2000. By advancing through the Gym quests and showing your increased wealth, your account size will gradually increase until its reaches its maximum of P500000. After this, you can't store any more money, but you will always be able to accumulate interest on this, saving you from the tedium associated with beating the E4 multiple times and replacing it with the tedium of watching your bank account gain about P150 every week.

Happy investing.

Ooh, interesting, and I like it. This way, You can always have money somewhere, and you never run out.

I'd also like to have my phone back. ;_;

Having a bank is a good idea.

I think it is cool if we have another man like Kurt, in G/S/C, makes us new kind of PokeBalls and maybe new other things.

;227; Ooh, I had forgotten about the phone. And the PokeGear too, for that matter. Perhaps the gender-colored watch-like gadget on the protagonists' arms will prove to be a new version of the PokeGear, or something similar.

Eszett, move to Japan and get a job at Game Freak. Now.

There are also much other great idea's

and ontopic: I really want to return such (legendary) pokemon like sudowoodo or snorlax who block the road

Things I'd like to see return:
Day and night
PokeGear (with all PokeNav functions)
Radio
Pokemon blocking way and requiring long sidequest to move it.
The Delightful Cloning Glitch (hehehehehe)
A serious rival
More specialized PokeBalls
Special Day-Of-The-Week events
Something like the Bug-Catching Contest, preferably a fishing contest.

Pretty much everything about Johto - but let's make the roaming legendaries a little easier to find please.

Phone and that bank is a wicked idea.

I also want timed events to return like the Mt.Moon moonstone event on Mondays. Also, I think that they should go back to one legendary for both versions and the trio.

I want the ability to actually catch every Pokemon, the only thing you need being a friend with the opposite version.

In addition to what everyone has said (since I love every single suggestion)....

A renewable Move Tutor! The ones in Fr/Lg and Emerald were great in bringing back older attacks, but sometimes they got a little out of hand for their services (Frontier Points) or lacked the necessary means to do so in the first place (one-time teachers). Let's bring back tutors that do things for money, ala the one in Crystal.

An interesting map! Sort of an odd mechanic to want back, but I enjoyed the branching Johto map and the round-about Kanto map. Can they please bring such interesting ideas back?

With the exception to legendaries, starters, and special (EX: Fossils) Pokemon I presume.

lolforumz.
the appricot system would be nice, as well as night and day. i'd also like to see the 'moving legandary locations' be used more widely, like in emerald, for groudon and kyogre.
