Some notes before we get started:
- This is rated R; because there will probably be violence/gore, cussing, and other mature topics. As well as references to such things found in Greek myth.
- We will only be using Ancient Greek gods in this RP, I apologize now if you wanted a different god, but this is for the sake of the plot, and there's still a ton of options, plus no limit to how many people can use the same god as their parent/patron.
- Two terms you'll need to understand for this RP are Demi-god and Champion. Demi-gods are young gods who have not yet earned godhood, rather then literal half-gods. Champions are humans (or other mortals with GM's permission, generally there will need to be a Greek myth for these) that the gods have given favor to, to aid them in becoming heroes.
- I've been made aware that Olympus High was the name of the school in a Canadian series called “Class of the Titans”, while this obviously shares a lot of themes with that show (and with Percy Jackson & the Olympians and “Hercules: The Animated Series”), it's not based on it, so there's no spoilers or continuity to worry about in regards to that.

Our story so far. . .
Few people understand the true nature of the gods. In fact it's funny how few mortals can wrap their head around the idea that the gods are also mortal too, though death is much much rarer for them. And even fewer would believe that they started out practically human. It wasn't always this way, long ago the Titans came into existence as immortal gods, but many were without humanity, immoral, brutal, and monstrous. Their children were not so, they had godly powers, but they could still die, and witnessed in horror as the Titan Cronos started to consumed his own children. His son Zeus and the others rebelled, and the displacing the old gods, the new ones knew something had to change. Zeus therefore decided that future gods should have to prove they're worth of such a position, and the powers and lifespan that come with it, even his own children.
So now gods, or rather demi-gods, are born to mortal surrogates, most of whom never even know the child they're carrying is a demi-god. These demi-gods are not literally half gods, as their surrogate mothers and fathers did not actually contribute any DNA, that's just the term mortals who don't understand the situation gave them (the powerful gods are capable of producing offspring as a pair or alone, but must use a surrogate mortal mother due to Zeus' magical decree). The demi-god then must commit an act of true heroism, something significant enough to alter fate, in order to become a god. Such a feat is rarely achieved, and many a demi-god has become a great and legendary hero without ever truly earning a spot in the pantheon. So simply doing good deeds, because you want to become a god is never going to cut it.
Still, despair not, for even if they fail to become gods, great heroes end up in the Elysian Fields, a glorious battleground where they can daily relive the glory of slaying the monsters they and their fellow heroes have previously defeated in life. Then they can feast and party long into the night, and start the hunt afresh then next morning. Surely it is a blessed afterlife compared to that of the mundane man, who must toil in plowing Hades' fields forevermore, and of course compared to the punishments that await the corrupt. And if that is not good enough, those in Elysium have the option of being reborn, and should they become great heroes twice more, they may retire to the Isles of the Blessed.
So, by now you're probably wondering where you can learn to be a great hero? Luckily for you the gods came up with an answer to that, nestled in the mountains of a large isolated magical island (much like their own home atop Mt. Olympus), they built a school, Olympus High: A Boarding School for Demi-Gods and Heroes. Here demi-gods and mortal champions alike, can learn to become great heroes.
Champions are people who have earned favor from one or more gods. This can either be through a selfless act of heroism, having a cause the gods see as a noble, being dedicated to a god at birth by their relatives, being descended from a great hero, or simply being chosen by a god for some skill they possess. Once someone has been chosen as a champion their god(s) will usually grant them magical skills and/or ancient relics with mystical properties.
Champions make up about two third's of the school's one hundred or so students. They attend exactly the same classes and activities as the demi-gods. Many will go on to become great heroes, and some may even become true heroes, though they cannot become gods. In fact, you might be hard pressed to tell the two apart, save for the relics often awarded to champions by their patrons. While some demi-gods may be tempted to look down on champions, it is not very becoming of a hero to do so.
That's not to say there isn't clichés. Like any high school, the teens tend to group together based on age, interests, and unspoken social rules. There's also a tendency for some to group together based on what god is their parent or patron, particularly those who are the children and champions of major gods.
The island the school is located on is called The Isle of Atlas, and is one of the few remaining safe havens for magical creatures. The small population of humans and demi-gods living here do have electricity (provided via solar crystals and modern hydro-generators) and some modern technology (of which they often have their own locally produced versions), but some prefer to do certain things the traditional way, and certain items are banned for the protection of the creatures and magical artifacts that reside there, such as; cameras, camcorders, and cellphones. There are no internet connections or cellphone towers on The Isle of Atlas. This is with good reason, as over the years, magic has been extinguished and depleted in many regions of the world. And as the collective forces of magic around the world weaken, so does the gate holding back the Titan Gods of old. Therefore it is in humanity’s best interest that they do not learn of The Isle of Atlas, and therefore do not exploit it's magic or hunt to extinction it's creatures.
The island is large and fairly round, consisting of central landmass that includes mountains near it's center (where the school was constructed), and is surrounded by a god-made cove, which is also inhabited despite the tsunami risks. In fact even the mountaintops themselves were once consumed by waves during a particularly turbulent time in it's history, as punishment for the people's pride. But the island rebounded due to the forgiveness of the gods and the wealth of natural resources. The soil is rich, there are natural wells and hot springs, precious metals and magical crystals, lush vegetation and particularly exotic wildlife. Of course such nice resources also attract greedy monsters, and heroes are definitely needed to protect the populous. After graduating, the young heroes are free to stay on the island as it's respected protectors, or venturing out to the rest of world seeking their destiny.
At the base of the mountains stand several temples constructed entirely of gold, where the general populous gather to revere the gods. The island's main city is also there, which students are allowed to visit in their spare time. It is a beautiful mash-up of ancient Grecian ruins and sleek modern buildings, a place where new and old ideals often mingle. It is a place with both modern amenities and old world luxuries.
The island is accessible only by boat and magical means, so summer and winter break are the only times students might realistically leave the island, though the long boat ride does reduce their time at home (assuming their families are off-island). But many deem this inconvenience worth it, to take up the mantel and become true heroes.

Mine SUs
Name: Lex Peterson
Age: 17
Gender: Fluid - Lex was born male, but can, and does, changes gender at will.
Year: 3
God Parent(s): Eris
Domain: Chaos
Current Powers:
- Minor Shape-shifting, Lex can make small changes to his appearance, like changing hair color, becoming scaly, and growing animal ears, as well as changing his physical gender, at will.
- Transmutation, Lex is currently only able to transmute small objects (bowling ball sized and smaller), into other objects by touching them. He can also do this somewhat randomly, only tapping an object and allowing it to shift into whatever, rather then actively holding it and willing it to become something specific.
- Discord Aura, Lex's mere presence can cause strife in those around him. It's not very strong and will generally only affect weaker beings (aka non-champion mortals), unless he actually concentrations on doing so.
Appearance:
Lex is tall and slender, with well toned muscles, and sometimes a medium-small bosom. As a demi-god it doesn't take much to maintain this physique, and being able to shape-shift doesn't hurt either. His skin in quite fair and he has medium wavy dirty-blonde hair framing a nice rectangular face with bit of a heroic lantern jaw. His eyes are heterochromatic, mismatched, one being a dark hazel, and the other being a slightly green-blue. He suffers from a bit of resting ***** face, generally looking upset, even when he isn't, which in turn can make you upset when people point it out.
Typically Lex wears dark blue jeans held up with a simple black leather belt, and a fitted white or black tank-top, under a large purple zip-up hooded sweatshirt. His usual shoes are black and purple sneakers with green laces. He hates socks and usually doesn't wear them, though he's aware many people find this gross. He also wears a gold bracelet on his right wrist, with an apple shaped charm, a gift from his 'real' mother.
His extended wardrobe however contains many pieces that are very feminine or masculine, usually having been bought in the moment. He doesn't worry about gender rules or standards, because as he sees it, they don't apply to him, or sometimes her, so it's not improbable that he'll show up to class one day in male form wearing a lacy pink dress, or in female form wearing a dress shirt and tie.
Personality:
Lex's personality is shaped both by a spoiled conservative upbringing and the fairly recent revelation that he's a demi-god, albeit the child of a god other gods seem to look down on. This makes him very conflicted in some ways, but he tries not to focus on that. He just wants to be himself right now, though apparently it's important to become a true hero too, so he's still trying his best. But, honestly he isn't even really sure what that means. All his instructors have different answers, usually rambling, and he often finds himself questioning why killing monsters is the usual measure of great heroes.
He's kind of conflicted about how he's supposed to feel about gods anyways. Sure he likes the idea of being powerful and living for thousands of years, but the fact that he has to prove it seems like a selfish move on Zeus' part. Isn't it practically his birthright? And from what he understands, the other gods don't exactly respect his mother, Eris.
Though spoiled and socially awkward, Lex is not unkind. He can be fairly selfish, plus he likes watching things burn if we're being honest, but he's a good friend to those he deems worthy. It's hard to tell who he would deem worthy though, looking at his friends you'd think his standards are all over the place. He likes different people for different reasons and doesn't see anything wrong with that. Generally he'd rather just like people for who they are, assuming they're likeable people of course. His surrogate parents and nanny are mortal after all, and he loves them. He's not as close to Eris, but he hasn't known her that long either.
His tendency to create havoc can be a detriment to getting people to like him however, and to getting people to believe he can become a hero, much less a true hero. While his Discord Aura doesn't generally work on his classmates, he's not above setting up some pranks or randomly changing objects to see what kind of reaction he gets. Honestly, it's just too much fun to give up just to avoid hurting sensitive people's feelings. Aside from coming by it naturally, his spoiled upbringing didn't instill a lot of fear of consequences in him. His surrogate father back in the regular world usually paid his way out when he got into bigger trouble.
Romantically Lex struggles a bit. He's bisexual, liking both girls and boys, despite having been raised with the expectation that he should like just girls. But more importantly, he struggles with the worry about how potential partners will react to his shape-shifting, not just in terms of rejection, but also in terms of fearing they'll want him to be something he doesn't want to be (like how his surrogate mom dyes her hair for his dad, but more extreme).
History:
Once upon a time there was a CEO and his bottle blonde trophy wife. The couple had no kids, even from their previous relationships, and they were fine with it, as it just meant luxuries only childless could enjoy. Then one day a mysteriously beautiful make-up sales woman paid the trophy wife a visit, asking if she might demonstrate her company's new smudge proof lip-stick line. One thing led to another, but the trophy wife hid it, it wasn't as if another woman could get her pregnant anyways.
Nine months later an adorable baby boy was born, to a couple that assumed their protection had failed. His blonde hair was a bit of a surprise, since the CEO had black hair, and his wife's was only dyed blonde, blonde hair is recessive, it didn't seem improbable that this boy was genetically the CEO's. And everyone who meet the young child was instantly charmed and doted on him.
Raised mostly by his mom and a part-time nanny, Lex led a privileged life. He'd occasionally get into trouble, it was kind of thrilling really, but not anything a bit of cash couldn't sort out, from breaking into a neighbor’s private pool to sort-of-accidentally setting the school's bus on fire (he's been enrolled in private schools since kindergarten). He had all the latest toys and gadgets, and was treated to expensive vacations and brand-name/gourmet food. It truly was a charmed life.
That was, until his powers started to manifest. He knew his body was supposed to change as he got older, but, oh, not like this. He was pretty sure you weren't supposed to change gender or grow patches of fur and scales. Super confused and rather embarrassed, especially having been raised around conservative gender values, he started wearing baggy/bulky clothes, avoiding physical contact, and hiding a lot while he tried to figure out what triggered the transformations. To add the stress, everyone around him seemed to randomly break out into arguments, threatening his happy home with the possibility of the beloved nanny being fired and/or his surrogate parents splitting up.
For the first time he understood fear. Not the adrenaline rush of running away from the owner of a house that he and his friends had egged, but the true worry and dread that comes with the fear of an uncertain future.
Then who should knock on the door, but the make-up saleswoman, looking exactly as she had 14 years ago when the trophy wife had first seen her. She explained, and proved, who she really was, the goddess Eris, and that Lex was her child, a demi-god, for whom his mom had only been a surrogate. She also let Lex know she'd been watching over him all these years, and had arranged for him to attend Olympus High, which was supposed to help improve his chances of becoming a god himself, if he could prove himself a true hero. It meant 4 years mostly away from the only family he'd ever known, on a magical island devoid of cell phone towers.
In a way Lex felt very betrayed, but in another comforted. His life seemed like a lie, but it was a good lie, and an extra parent had been looking out for him all along, even though he didn't realize it. The revelation did not meld well with some of his conservative surrogate parent's beliefs, but they still loved him and once they were calm enough to consider it, they wanted him to pursue his potential. So it was decided, when school started again, he'd be attending Olympus High. Now on his 3rd year, Lex has learned a lot, but socially, things are still kind of awkward.
___
Name: Apollodoros “Apollo”
Age: 18
Gender: Boy
Year: 4
Patron God(s): Artemis (though his parents were hoping for Apollo obviously, when they named him 'gift of Apollo')
Powers Granted:
Unrelenting - Artemis gifted Apollodoros with superhuman stamina. This in turn has helped him build up his strength and makes him a very good ally to have on your side. His strength is not superhuman, but it certainly exceeds that of most humans his age. He still needs sleep of course, he just doesn't usually get fatigued.
Relics Granted:
None at this point.
Appearance:
His body is littered with scars from all fighting he does, and he usually has some fresh scratches and bruises as well. He is also missing the pinky and ring fingers on his left hand. This is where he was bitten by a crocodile he was wrestling during the the summer just before his third year. He killed it and made a necklace of it's teeth, but his fingers were never recovered, and the local healer just did her best with what was left.
Normally, Apollodoros dresses simply in a plain white chiton, with a belt bag for holding onto useful items, leather bracers over his wrists, and a necklace made of crocodile teeth. He generally does not wear any shoes, as is normal for his tribe, but can be compelled to wear them for formal events, along with some nicer clothes, which usually just means wearing a himation over his chiton. He also has a pair of jeans and some modern shirts he got on a trip to the outside world, but who wants to wear something so confining?
He's almost never without his trusty hand axe, his weapon of choice, though he does also know how to use some other weapons, such as swords and a bows.
Personality:
Hyperactive probably best describes Apollodoros, even before Artemis granted him supernatural stamina, he was always out and about doing something active. He especially like hunting, fighting, and swimming. Book subjects confuse him somewhat since he never had any foundation in them during early childhood, but he's improved in them since starting school, so it's obviously that it's not for lack of intelligence. For the same reason he struggles with technology a bit, and may occasionally ask classmates questions about things that seem obvious to everyone else.
While not necessarily a leader, Apollodoros is never reluctant to call his fellow heroes-in-training into battle. In his mind, bringing honor to their gods and the glory of battle itself should be enticing enough, but it seems like some of his classmates need a little encouragement. He doesn't understand those who are reluctant to go into battle, after all if the goal is Elysium, they aren't going to get there by standing back and doing math. Plus, he's learned there's some battles you just can't, or at least shouldn't fight alone.
Apollodoros is generally patient though, not only will he track a beast for days on end, but he'll quietly endure most verbal onslaughts, because to be honest, he knows it's not likely he's who they really have a problem with. While he may jump into a fight without thinking about it, he really does have a degree of wisdom that makes him stand out from some of his classmates, and is fairly slow to anger. It's kind of surprising considering how much he can come off as a knucklehead. But woe unto those who dare to harm his friends, because an axe wielding barbarian is not something you want coming after you.
He doesn't really mind that most people call him Apollo, despite very clearly introducing himself as Apollodoros. He really hopes Apollo won't take offense, but seeing as the god has never yet showed interest in him, he doubts there's much risk of that.
Romantically Apollodoros would like someone mature but brave. Basically someone level-headed who's not afraid to go into battle with him. That kind of strength is as attractive as the physical beauty of Artemis when she was pretending to be a mortal girl to test him, though he sometimes imagines his soulmate might look like that as well, assuming they're a girl.
History:
Apollodoros was born to a clan living on the outer ring of The Isle of Atlas, a clan which many of the inhabitants of the island regard as barbarians. To be fair they've never really embraced modern technology and spend most their time hunting, as they believe this is how the gods intended men to live. Apollodoros (gift of Apollo) was named in hopes of earning favor with Apollo, that maybe he could become a great healer or prophet and bring some honor to their clan. They took the infant across the cove and inland to the temple of Apollo, and nothing happened. . .
Back home the baby grew into a rambunctious strong-headed boy, who excitedly threw himself into all sorts of physical activity; sports, fighting, swimming, mountain climbing, and of course hunting. He was a natural tracker, and fiercely dedicated once he decided upon his quarry.
One day while Apollodoros was out hunting wild boar, the goddess Artemis looked down upon the mortal realm, and saw the young hunter braving the elements. The other boys his age had given up and returned home, but Apollodoros pressed on. Curiously she followed the youth, admiring his dedication, something about him reminded her of her long lost Orion. Then eventually she decided to test his resolve, setting obstacles and distractions in his way, so that it delayed him three days, but he never gave up the hunt. Then finally she herself appeared to him, taking the form of a beautiful young woman, and asking if they might return to his village together and maybe court. He admitted, “You are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen, but I have been away longer on this hunt then any I have undertaken before, and I dare not return to my village without a boar.”
As if on cue, a large boar ran out of the shrubbery, charging the goddess. Apollodoros leapt into action, sinking his hand axe deep into the beast's neck. Standing before the body he turned to check on the girl, finding instead the goddess Artemis in glowing glory, poised with her bow. She dropped her gesture and walked slowly to the young hunter, who was too stunned to move. She placed a hand below his chin and informed him, “I have challenged you mortal, these past three days, and you have exceeded my expectations by far. Therefore, I charge you Apollodoros, to be my champion.”
And with that she kissed his forehead and disappeared into the aether.
Two years later, Apollodoros would receive a letter inviting him to Olympus High, though he had to find someone who was actually able to read it since most of the village was illiterate. Since then he's been training hard to become the hero he knows Artemis saw in him, between struggling with all the book subjects he has no foundation for, and dealing with confusing modern technology.
During the summer between his first and second years, Apollodoros visited the outside world. In many ways it was exciting and amazing, but in others it was overwhelming. It was way more crowded then any place he'd been in before, and the technology was even more confusing then that back at the school. He got some modern clothes out on the trip, but he still prefers the chiton many native people on the island still wear.
He has fought many a monster and wild animal, but his worst fight to date happened during the summer between his second and third year, in which he thought it would be brilliant to wrestle one of the giant saltwater crocodiles that live in the cove. It got ahold of his left hand, severing the pinky and ring finger. Though he killed the crocodile and was rushed to a healer, the fingers had been lost his hand could not be restored, leaving him eight fingered. Artemis appeared to him again that day, scolding him, “That was incredibly foolish.”
“I know,” he admitted, looking down at his hand. Artemis continued, “I could have lost a champion. I know you're going to fight, but you need to not pick fights you aren't ready for.”
