Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Recent Happenings Thread

Still going around collecting flags, I'm at 580 at the moment. It's getting a bit boring so I decided to take a break and go fishing. On the first try I get a shiny Magikarp! Adamant as well XD

I downloaded the Victini on all my games today, but more than that, I've decided that my AS game needs a new 6th teammate for its Sinnoh team, so I bred a Cranidos to replace Bastiodon. I first had to hatch a female, since the existing Rampardos I had was male. It only took me five eggs, which was a lot fewer that I'd expected to need, so I moved onto the next phase--breeding it with my Aggron to impart Iron Head and an Adamant nature onto the baby. After that egg hatched, I gave the li'l tyke a nickname, took him to Lilycove where I pumped him full of vitamins, and slapped some TMs onto him to pump up his moveset. I haven't given him any levels yet, but when I have time later, I'll fight the Battle Resort trainers and take him a few rounds around the map fighting Trainer's Eyes opponents.

Had 10 more battles in Secret Bases on both of my games today. I saw the usual stuff from my opponents, Legendaries, shinies and some weak Pokemon. I still like how there are so many interesting Pokemon to face in this compared to the regular battles. Unfortunately, not everything is good. I have seen some things that have been clearly hacked and/or illegal, which is unfortunate. Some other things have been very suspicious too. Anyway, after this, I did another Game Sync on both of my games. On Omega Ruby, I had obtained the Secret Battler 100 Medal, so I am now done with Secret Base Battles there for the time being, will probably do more of them in the future though. I didn't get this Medal on Alpha Sapphire, so I will have to continue with the Secret Base Battles there. I don't think I have that many left though, I'm pretty sure I am very close to 100 so I should be able to get it done and have the Medal tomorrow.

- I finished shopping at Mossdeep's mart and picked up some items on the island including a King's Rock close to Steven's house. I challenge Mossdeep's gym now and fought hard.
- I had a tough time with the gym's light orb puzzle, tho I soon solved it and defeated gym leaders Liza and Tate and won the Mind badge after our double battle. I then left the building.
- I saw a commotion outside when the light beam burst in the sky and then Steven handed me the scuba gear and the Dive Hm. I surfed through the waves next on my way south. :]

- I made my way through route 125, including talking to the guy who would trade me evolution stones for shards I find., but I didn't have any the time.
- Then I decided to go to Mossdeep city where I looked around in various places (going into buildings, collecting things and talking to people)
- I went to route 125 and Shoal Cave after this and looked around Shoal Cave for any items (hidden or visible) that I could acquire
- I then started leveling up my team for the gym battle. This was what I was doing last time I played

Today, the first thing I did was EV train my Remoraid. That was pretty easy.

Then, I tried to get Remoraid to win a Master Rank Cuteness Contest. That was pretty hard.
It took me 3 attempts to win the Contest. My first try was a bust due to things like the turn order (I always *just* missed the crowd bonus), making wrong predictions about the other Pokemon's moves (sometimes they made the obvious/smart move choice, sometimes not), and lower scoring Pokemon getting nervous (thus allowing the higher scorers to "steal" the crowd excitement bonus). I reset and tried again, but ended up facing the exact same competitors again...I knew that wasn't a good sign, so when I got nervous on just the second turn, I reset again.

My third and final try went much more smoothly. I went up against a (mostly) new set of competitors, scored high on every turn, and won by a lot & got my Remoraid its Contest ribbon.

Today, it has been exactly one year since I first started playing Omega Ruby. Time flies. Back then, I wasn't sure how much I would do in the game or how much I would be able to get done before the next main series games would be released. Looking back now, I have done quite a lot, and while I still have quite a bit left to do, I am pretty sure I will be able to do everything I want to before Sun/Moon hits the world.

Didn't do a lot on this game today though. Mostly went to visit areas I usually don't go to. Such as the Oceanic Museum in Slateport and Professor Birch's lab in Littleroot. Also went and visited my daily Mirage Spot, which it has been a while since I last did. It was the Mirage Island containing Ditto and Munna. Didn't really do anything there, though I found a hidden Razor Fang. Then I left.

Did a little more on Alpha Sapphire though. I had 15 more battles against Secret Base trainers. Then I did another Game Sync. And now, I had finally unlocked the Secret Battler 100 Medal.

With that, I consider myself done with obtaining Medals on these games. For the time being, at least. There are a few more I might try to get in the near future, but it depends a little on how things turn out as they are dependent on the circumstances. I will also do a list of every Medal I was unable to get once the 6th Gen PGL has closed down, both here and on X/Y. But that's for the future. For now, I'm going to continue with my next project, which is rather large and involves many different things. Going to get started on it tomorrow, not sure how much time I will have to play then but I will at least try to get something done.

After my post yesterday, I levelled up my Cranidos at the Battle Resort trainers, my Secret Bases, and several Trainer's Eyes trainers, getting him all the way to Lv.81. I was not expecting him to level up so fast, I was under the impression that fossil Pokémon were harder to train? Perhaps I was assuming that their longer egg-hatching/egg-making patterns translated to a higher EXP needed to level, like it does for semi-Übers and starters? But, I digress.

Just a little while ago today, like an hour or so ago, I went around and finished levelling up my Rampardos. I also took a few moments to go grind some BP to teach Rampardos Fire Punch over Zen Headbutt. After getting him to Lv.100, I went to the last of the secret bases I'd received yesterday, and battled their owners to register their Pokémon in my 'dex. I got a few new shinies registered, too.

- I took a slight detour while surfing and defeated several trainers around Sootopolis city's exterior and then I shopped at Lilycove city's department store again. I then sailed off. ^^
- I used my Dive Hm on Sealeo and dove underwater for the first time and caught a Relicanth and other deep sea pokemon with Dive balls. I went through the deep trench as well.
- I found the stolen submarine when I resurfaced at the Seafloor Cavern and I defeated tons of Team Aqua guys who were hanging around the cave. I then surfed across some currents.

All I was doing this go-around was continuing to level up my party before challenging the Mossdeep Gym. Well, I leveled up enough to battle all the trainers in the gym first, now I just finished leveling up enough to actually challenge Tate & Liza themselves. Also, my Wailmer and Anorith evolved, as well, making me now officially have my planned team for this play-through.

I was hoping to get more than just that done.

Started today by flying back to the Battle Resort. I battled a couple of the type specialists scattered around the island, which allowed my Remoraid to evolve into Octillery. Then, I completed Octillery's moveset by visiting one of the move tutors and using TMs.

After that, I used Pokemon Amie to boost Octillery's Affection. Playing with Octillery was pretty fun and watching it eat was, uh, interesting.

Next, I returned to the mainland to do a little more training. I hung around the Route 111 & 113 area, where I rematched a few regular trainers and battled the owner of a Secret Base I happened to come across. That training got Octillery up to level 37 or so.

Finally, I flew to Lavaridge Town. After visiting the Pokemon Center, I stopped by the mart to stock up on Hyper Potions and a few other things as I was getting low on them and forgot to buy more earlier. I saved after that. Next time, I'll finish levelling up my Octillery.

Forgot one thing in my last post. I currently have 130 Medals on OR and 129 on AS. But as said, I will probably get more later on so this will not be the final result.

Next up, as mentioned, is a big project. I don't have a name for it (guess I should come up with one), it will be various things I have left in the games that I want to do before I can consider myself done with them. I'm expecting it to take a while, likely a month or more. One very big part of this is that I am going to catch all legendaries in both games, which will likely take some time. Except for the Southern Island Lati@s since I don't have the Eon Ticket, and the other Lati@s and Rayquaza since I already caught them during the story.

Decided to start by breeding for Synchronizers with every useful Nature (which is 18 out of 25 as 7 Natures are competely useless), I will likely need many different Natures for the legends so I decided to start with this. I got started on both games and so far, I have hatched 11/18 Natures on OR and 12/18 on AS. Still got a few more left, feels like the odds are low due to how random it is. It would have been great if I had everything tomorrow but I don't think it will happen. Chances are I won't try to get every single one either, but I'd like to. Going to continue tomorrow, will do things a little differently at first in order to get some more that I need.

- I finished exploring the Seafloor Cave and found out where Archie was. As he awoke Kyogre, it fled and then we all got the news about the rain and how Kyogre was going to Sootopolis.
- I resurfaced and saw Steven Stone again and he went on ahead while I took another detour and exchanged pokemon at Mossdeep city. I then went underwater again using Dive.
- I was at Sootopolis city finally and I shopped for Ultra balls and saw Wallace the gym leader and Steven at the Cave of Origin entrance. After seeing Brendan too, I went in the cave.

- Started off by challenging the Mossdeep Gym, which I beat.
- Received the Dive HM from Steven and then proceeded to backtrack to places I could dive in that I couldn't before
- The above included investigating the rest of Sea Mauville and looking in the remaining rooms that I couldn't enter before.

Team so far:
(No change this time, since I didn't do enough battling for anyone to level up)

- Latios (Lv. 41)**
- Gallade (Lv. 41)**
- Wailord (Lv. 41)
- Skarmory (Lv. 41)
- Armaldo (Lv. 41)
- Blaziken (Lv. 41)**

I won't bother bolding every name from this point on, now that I have the planned team for this play-through.

Yesterday, I finished training Octillery. To start things off, I went to the Secret Shore and trained in the Secret Bases there. That got Octillery to the upper level 80s. Next, I returned to the Pokemon League for more training and to get Octillery its Hoenn Champion Ribbon. I used Octillery in every battle at the league, which was really fun due to Octillery's wide movepool. When I entered the Hall of Fame, Octillery had reached level 92-93. I quickly got it up to level 100 after the credits by doing some more Secret Base battles at the Secret Meadow.

Continued breeding for Pokemon (which were Abra, in case anyone was wondering) with Synchronize and useful Natures I didn't already have. Today, I used Ditto (and also a Hitmonlee in one case as it could breed with Abra) with the Natures I was after, holding an Everstone to pass them down. This quickly got me most of the Synch Natures I was missing. But in the end, I only had 16/18 on each game. However, I did have all 18 between both games. So I bred extras of the Natures I was missing, then I traded them over to the opposite game. And with that, I had all 18 useful Synch Natures on both games. Not sure if I will need them all for this project (to be honest, I don't think so), but chances are I'll need them for something else in the future, so it doesn't hurt to have them. This will also make it easier for me to get more of them in the future, if I should need to do so. Anyway, I am almost ready to start now, just have some small preparations left to do, then this project will start for real tomorrow.

- I continued finding Dive spots I couldn't dive into up until Route 128
- I then took a look around Sootopolis City before investigating the Seafloor Cavern
- I then started my investigation of Seafloor Cavern where I had my final battle against Archie at the end of it
- I was then taken to the Cave of Origin where I caught Kyogre to stop it from sinking the Hoenn region (I used my Master Ball on it so I didn't have to go through that cut-scene every time)

Team so far:

- Latios (Lv. 41)**
- Gallade (Lv. 41)**
- Wailord (Lv. 42)
- Skarmory (Lv. 41)
- Armaldo (Lv. 42)
- Blaziken (Lv. 41)**

- I went through Sootopolis city's Cave of Origin and went underwater until I saw where Kyogre was heading for. It did its Primal Reversion change and then I fought and caught it. :D
- I left the Cave of Origin cuz I didn't need to stick around longer now that Hoenn's rainfall was back to normal ha ha. I saw Brendan and Steven outside and I was given an Eon Flute.
- I swapped pokemon now inside Sootopolis city's pokemon center and I visited the gym in the middle of the lake. I walked on the icy floors and beat trainers before reaching Wallace.

Done a bit of things here for the past days. Started with the final preparations for this project. On both games, I connected to Bank where I stored the capture fodder and breeding leftovers from what I have done lately. Got a bunch of Poke Miles as usual. I now have over 8000 on Alpha Sapphire, really hoping I can get 10 000 before the PGL closes down next month. I also sent over some things from X/Y, most notably my Smeargle that I use for capture and breeding purposes. I will need the capture ones now and might need the breeding ones later on.

Then I got started. There were a few things I had already done earlier in the games, so I could cross them off the list directly. They were the following things:
- Obtain all TMs
- Obtain all Mega Stones
- Add all Mega Evolutions to Pokedex
- Visit all Mirage Spots
- Rebattle all trainers with Pokenav so they are at the highest possible levels

So those are done. During this project, I am going to be looking for two different Mirage Spots that I need for different purposes. I have looked at my daily Mirage Spots as well as generated more through SpotPass for the past two days, but haven't found the ones I am after yet. Which isn't surprising since the chance of finding them is rather low. I have gotten started on the legendary project in various ways though. I created a list of all legendary Pokemon in the games so I know which ones I have left to catch in each game. Decided to start with the Hoenn legendaries since it is the region I am in, and then do the others afterwards.

Omega Ruby: Started here by going to the Sealed Chamber, I could easily get to it through the currents on the Routes. I haven't been here before on these games. And the last time I was here in the originals was probably 11 years ago... so it has been a while. I decided to decipher the Braille here since I never did it in the originals which I regret, and I like ciphers. Did so and it contained some interesting information. The whole English alphabet was listed in Braille in one chamber, with period and comma as well, but I used an external cipher key so I didn't need it. Pretty cool though. Along the way, I realized I needed a certain TM which I had forgotten, so I had to go back outside and get a Pokemon that could learn it, then go back. I eventually deciphered everything and opened the final doors, unlocking the three legendary golems.

Went to the Desert Ruins and saw that I could enter it. Left for a short while to buy several different types of Poke Balls that I knew I would need. It cost quite a lot of money, I hope I won't need to buy that many more balls in the future since I might not be able to afford it. Anyway, I put the Pokemon I needed in my party, then I went back. I solved the puzzle and opened the door to Regirock. With my Sync in the lead position, I battled it. Lowering its HP with False Swipe wasn't the easiest since it is a Rock-type and it used Curse and Iron Defense to raise its Defense to max. I eventually got it down to 1 HP and put it to Sleep, then I caught it on the first Ball. It had the Nature I wanted it to have, so I kept it. Will continue with the next one tomorrow.

Alpha Sapphire: Decided to start with Kyogre since I don't want to do the exact same thing on both games, and it is the mascot of this game. Alpha is the beginning, so it feels like a good idea to start with it. But first, I had to buy a lot of different Poke Balls, like on OR. Then I put the Pokemon I needed in my party and headed to Sootopolis. Went to the Cave of Origin and entered, made my way down to Kyogre. Had to watch a cutscene before the battle, which was unexpected but cool. Had my desired Sync Nature in the lead, and battled it. Turned out that it automatically entered its Primal Reversion in the battle, which I hadn't expected but it didn't matter much. I easily swiped it down to 1 HP, though Aqua Ring was a little annoying. But it wasn't very difficult, and I caught it on the second ball. It had the Nature I wanted, so I kept it and left Cave of Origin, don't think I will return here on this game anymore. Going to continue tomorrow, though I'm not sure if I am going to catch any legendaries on this game then.

- I challenged Wallace now that I cleared his ice floor puzzle and I used Raichu and Tropius to sweep his team of water types. I received the Rain badge as well as Waterfall's Hm.
- Now that all of Hoenn's gym badges were mine, I exchanged pokemon and did some berry harvesting on Route 123, then I built a new Secret Base at Route 117 and went to Littleroot. :]
- I visited prof Birch's lab and had my Dex updated, then I went around Hoenn and caught new pokemon. When I had my fill, I went surfing through Route 130 toward Pacifidlog town.
