When the original Base Set was printed, the First Edition, and a few printings of Unlimited had No shadows behind the picture. What that means, if you look at the right and bottom border of the picture on any recent card, you'll see that there's a shadow there, as if the Picture is raised above the card. In the First Edition, and, what some people call "First Print Unlimited" cards, there is no shadow.

Generally, to some people, shadowless Non-First Edition Base Set cards are worth more than ones with shadows, but that depends on who you got to.

Base Set, First Edition Clefairy with no shadow.
Jungle, First Edition Clefable with shadow.

Dude... I have a first edition Charizard that looks exactly like that... shadowless and all. O-o
$250... why did my step dad have to tell me to never sell it? >.<

If you check out auction sites like E-bay, you may be able to get just as good of a card for much less.

Of course, it will be ungraded...but...I think grading cards is overrated anyways.

Eeer... ookay then... but it's quite expensive, IMO. I rather buy new TCG Booster packs than to buy something like that... ;.;
