Who I am? Where am I going? Where did I come from?

To him, it had never mattered nor would it ever matter.

He was P-0 XK-102354133 D01, a worker. Born for the sake of serving the Master, like every single creature in the entire world. All he had ever knew was the Master and his Will. The Master was absolute and as such, so was his Will.

He was covered in filth, the small suit of clothes he had been given at birth was all ripped apart and hurts, now that he has outgrown it. Many just go naked. It's more pratical, for the heat in the factories is great but not unbearable. Nothing is unbearable but to fail to obey the Master. He had lost three of his ten fingers through the years because of the machinery in the factories, he had lost all of his hair as well... not that it mattered.

He would work his entire life and when his muscles begin to weaken or that he lose too many fingers or even an arm or a leg, he will be put into the Grinder and serves the Master even in death as he is used as food for the other workers.

Overpopulation was a problem despite the fact that everyone lived directly in their work places.

What were they building?

Weapons. Thousands and thousands of weapons... and other machines. Parts for the Air Purifier. The Master says that if the Air Purifer can gain enough power, the sky will turn blue. To him, it was hard to imagine, even said by the Master. As far as he can remember, the sky was always dark grey, filthy like the entire world.

There had been rumors among the servants. Indeed... it seemed that once upon a time, the world had green floor, blue water, and brown rock. Green floor? Blue water? Brown rock? The only thing he ever seen that was blue was the eyes of the Master's pet and the color of the flames within the factories.

Green? What is green? The floor had always been made of metal, of various scraps of metal and skeletons all cemented together, forming the solid ground. The water had always been black or dark grey. The radiation level was hellish. Workers do not live long outside the Master's factories. Yes, the workers lost their fingers and accidents were frequent... but the radiation was far more painful. It was a purpose many were born for... to navigate the exterior, covered in anti-radiations suits, finding and killing those who could no longer get up and walk, those whose nerves had been consumed by the radiations. The Master spoke of it as an act of mercy... But what is mercy, exactely? He didn't knew... it confused him. Those finishers would forever haunt the ruins and exterior and eventually, when the radiations eat even their own suits, they fall down and go into cold sleep, the drugs in their suits allowing them not to suffer as the radiations kill them. They aren't lucky. They cannot have a quick death by the Grinder for their corpses are too infused with the radiations to be edible or even useable as materials.

"The Master is kind to those who obey. The Master feeds you and in exchange, you feed the Master. In work, you find purpose. Purpose is true freedom and happiness."

It was writen everywhere. Some workers had the task of going around the factories and the ruins, placing steel places with those words embedded in them. Everyone lived by these words. The Master created everyone. The Master feeds everyone. The Master spare the dying of their agony by finishing them off. The Master gives everyone a reason to live. The Master allow people to be happy, knowing their lives was productive in a way or another.

This was everyone's only purpose. To serve the Master. The steel plates rarely lasted long... but people remembered the words. During the lunch breaks, one would sacrifice his time needed to sustain itself in order to scribble the words on the walls or on the machines, to replace the steel plates. Sometimes, the guardians would kill that person for it, because he was foolish to break the Master's Will by mistake. Sometimes, the guardians would applaud this gesture and be happy... and then, the workers would be happy too.

People matured quickly. Two years at most even for the tall, five-fingered workers. Mating did not take place. It was punished, even. Natural reproduction is slow and risky. Control chips which regulated the hormone levels would be distributed. When one would feel the hormones rising despite the chips, that servant would either be sent to the reproduction factories to serve as breeders, receive a new, stronger chip... or in some rare cases, that servant was sent to the Master's castle.

The world is made of metal... only metal, the polluted air, the poisonned water, and the materials. There are only a few locations in all of the world... the factories, the Master's castle, and the ruins, at the exterior. Many people suspected that the ruins had once been something else since they formed strange formations of buildings with weird, primitive factories here and there... but it was just a mystery of the world. Everybody knows that only the factories and the Master's castle truly existed. They were the only places where life had ever existed. The ruins contained nothing. Those who gave in to temptation and went there were not punished. Either the radiations and disappointment of finding nothing killed them, or they returned and would be turned into finishers. Why turn them into finishers? Because only one with an incredible endurance to radiation could survive outside.

The factories... to create weapons, parts for the Air Purifier, and for the Water Filter. Water needed to be filtered. It was always polluted and death through poisoning was a problem... but reproduction had been increased by several thousands percents to solve the problem. Same for the air pollution. The radiations, nothing could be done about them.

This was... the world. It had always been as such and would always be. He would forever serve the Master, like his predecessors did, like his current generation does, like everyone will ever will.

The Master is immortal and timeless. He lived forever and will live forever. His power is absolute, like his Will.

But then... he had heard some ill rumors. Some people were scared. They were worried. The Master... some said that their predecessors said that the Master had a powerful, loud, deep voice... but that was non-sense. His voice had always been soft, almost impossible to hear, like the voice of a dying worker eaten up by radiations. They said that he was maybe surrounded by an aura of power... but he always was as weak looking as a worker about to be put in the Grinder.

People said his fur was once white and purple. Non-sense! It had always been dull grey and black, like the sky. They said that he used to stand tall on his own. Really? As far as anyone can remember, his legs are weak and he can barely stand on his own. They said that he used to be silent. To my memory, he always breathed loudly and with difficulty.

They also said that he was dying.

The Master is absolute. His Will is absolute. How can he die?... and if he dies, what will be our purpose? We... I... I ever lived only for him. I was born, created by him, to serve him. He gives my life purpose. If he dies... I won't have a purpose anymore. His mind is sharp. They say he's the one who keeps on making the blueprints we follow when building things and reparing stuff. If he dies... who will command us? Who will feed us? Who will give our lives purpose?

It is thanks to him that I have those thoughts. Without food, without purpose, one live as a mindless Pokemon. What is a Pokemon? I don't know... but it sounds perogative or whatever the word was. I forgot the Master's orthograph for the word...

With our lives filled with work, with every moment of our life filled with purpose, with our bodies completely chained to non-stop work, there was no need for us to worry. Our short five hours of sleep a day are dreamless, peaceful sleep... and now, while I eat, we have one hour of thoughts per day. We were allowed to think anytime we wanted... but we needed our sleep during the night and we needed to concentrate during the day to avoid accidents.

My hour of thoughts is nearing its end as I eat the last pieces of cooked meat. Judging from the taste, it was one of my own specie. Probably this young child who got caught in a machine and was ripped apart. There are no security devices. Takes too many materials which can and should be used on the Air Purifier and Water Filter.

"You. P-0 XK-102354133 D01." I turned to see a guardian, looking at me.

I stood up. "I live to serve. What is the Master's Will?" I asked, ready to do whatever the Master had in mind.

"We are direct messengers from the Master. He wants you to come to his castle. Your purpose has a worker ends here. You shall now be a medic. We have prepared the TMs already. Come with us." explained the guardians.

Me, a medic? Why would the Master wants me to be a medic? To be a medic required a sharp mind... and I am nothing but a worker, a mindless drone. Why is the Master choosing me to mend to the injuries of critical servants?

I continued to think as I followed them at the correct pace, making sure not to fall behind because of my thoughts. I would never forgive myself if I allowed myself to waste the Master's time. I want to fulfill my purpose. It makes me unhappy to displease the Master.

I was directed to a room. It was filthy, like every other place in the world. Janitors cleaned up constantly the world... but all they really did was just move the filth elsewhere, never eliminate it. They couldn't. To remove the filth and dust would be to remove the world for there is only dust, metal, scraps.

I sat on the strange chair. TMs were special programs that were uploaded in one's mind. It teaches them how to fulfill their programs. People say that it once allowed to unlock powers. I fail to see how a TM could do that.

The chair pierced my hands and feet with large blades. I was now completely immobile, unable to move for I was suspended by hands and legs to the wall. The machine would work quickly. It had to, to make sure I wouldn't lose too much blood. My nerves told me of an unpleasant feeling... I believe it's called pain. Rumors says that people once reacted to pain. To react to pain is stupid for one would slow down and slow down.

The massive spikes pierced through my brain and injected the knowledge deep within my mind. I could feel it... Huh? What? I was infused with the knowledge of how to take care of a single specie's body... the Master's.

The Master is making me into a medic that will take care of him? Why? Why would an immortal and almighty being such as the Master require medical care? Isn't his power supposed to keep him eternally alive?

The guardians removed me from the wall. A medic came into the room and healed my hands and feet quickly. He also closed my skull and placed new skin to replace the one the machine had ripped off to reach my brain. He was slow. Ten seconds unstead of seven... but the guardians forgave him because that they seen that the machine had malfunctionned slightly, opening my skull a bit too much.

With the task done, I followed the guardians as they lead me to the castle. We passed through a corridor and stepped inside of an elevator of such. All the factories were connected to the castle. You step into the elevator and it teleports you to your destination.

In this case, I found myself in a dark room, alone. I could see nothing... but then, I seen a slight light... as if a door was opening... and a pair of red eyes appeared in the darkness.

"The Master is waiting for you. Come inside." said the guardian.

I was about to see the Master. I feel nervous... no, I should not. When one is nervous, his efficiency drops. I am about to serve the Master in the flesh! I would never forgive myself if I am to fail right now... So I relaxed and took control of my body.

I stepped inside of the room...

...

I can barely believe this is real. What... what are those? The carpet on the floor... the strange lamp on the ceiling... the bed in the middle... the furniture... it is shades of strange things that are not grey or black or white. Colors unlike anything I ever seen... colors I cannot even name. Then... this place has no filth. Absolutely no filth. I thought the janitors never succeeded in cleaning any place... well, I was proved wrong. I shouldn't have doubted the Master when he said janitors were not useless. I will never forgive myself for doubting him.

As I looked at the bed, I seen the Master... and I did not understand why they said that he was a disappointing sight.

He was tall, about a head or so above me and kinda humanoid, like me. His body was all grey with his belly and tail black. The skin was obviously seriously damaged and had already begun to rot. His eyes were purple... but a dull shade of purple. The tube that once connected the back of his head and his back had been cut off for safety purposes and replaced with a mechanical tube to replace it. A machine was strapped to his nose, filling his body with oxygen for his body was almost too weak. Various medics were around him, injecting various medecines and drugs into his body. He was shaking more than a worker dying from radiations outside. His breathing was incredibly loud and he was obviously breathing with difficulty despite his machine.

I do not see how people can call him weak. No matter how weak he looks, he will always remain immortal and almight. He cannot die. He doesn't age.

Lying next to him, his pet. The Master was above physical urges in the conventionnal sense. He did not care for any female... except one. The pet was immortal, like the Master. No one knows why she is the only of her kind... but I assume that since the Master is immortal, almighty, and the only one of his kind... then it is only natural he may have an unique pet for him to use.

The pet was used for satisfying the Master's physical and emotionnal needs. She would do anything for him and he knew it. He had made her do everything from something simple and not physically taxing like putting her lips on his own to mating with her. Strangely enough, although they mated, reproduction never took place.

I assumed that she would feel her nerves acting up and bleed a lot when the Master would mate with her, considering her size. She was barely half his size. She was looking stronger than the Master, despite being his pet. Her body was a vivid pink and the blue in her eyes was so bright and beautiful. The Master constantly says that someday, the sky will be blue like her eyes... but seeing how blue her eyes are, I doubt it. Nothing can be as blue as this...

I also noted various similarities between the two. Both were mammals, cats of some sorts... and although she was very different, there were vague similarities. Yes, her feet were rabbit-like while his are more like that of a dragon... but they are still similar in the fact that they are large.

The pet... as I looked at her, I could see sadness. Why is she sad? She served the Master better than any of us ever did and ever would. Why is she sad?

"Me... me... me... dics... Le... leeeea... ve... usss..." his voice was hissing, like the dead wind within the ruins...

So, I prepared to leave. "N... noooo... N... noooo.... ooot... th... the.... nelll... lllw... on... onm... one..." his words were slow... slow and difficult to understand so we stopped to listen. After listening, we understood that every medic but me would leave.

So, the others left. Only I remained here, with the Master and his pet...

As I stared into his eyes... I... I suddenly felt... felt so sad. His eyes... I thought I could see tears in them... as if he was in pain and that unlike us, he was fully feeling it. Why Master? Why are you in such a state of sadness? Is it my fault? Did I failed you? I... I wish I could eliminate this sadness and make you happy...

"Re... reeeeaaaaeee... reeeemmmm... remove... myyy... myyy... maaaasssklleee..." I replaced his words several times in my mind and...

...!!! He... he wants me to remove his mask?!? N... NO! The Master... I must obey his Will b... but he will die if I remove his mask! I did not heard correctly.

"Forgive me, Master! I thought I heard you asking me to remove your mask. Please... I am so sorry for misunderstanding..." I turned to his pet, distressed...

The Master looked into his pet's eyes, nodded... and then, the pet turned to me, her eyes filled with tears. "You did not misunderstand the Master's Will. Remove his mask. Do it. It is his Will."

If... if it is the Master's Will...

I slowly approached him and gently placed my hand on the mask that covered his nose... and slowly, I pulled on it. There was a loud sound as the Master gasped, his lungs no longer supported by the artificial breathing system. He turned to me, eyes widened, shaking even more...

"P-0 XK-102354133 D01... this is your name, right?" his voice... had changed. His voice came quickly, although it was obvious he had even more difficulty speaking...

I nodded and awaited the Master's command... "My Will... is for you to hear, on behalf of all the world's inhabitants, my explanation on the world... on what it truly is and what it used to be... and on my guilt." the Master said.

In my mind, I didn't really understood but I nodded, to show him that I was listening...

"I... I didn't used to rule this world, human. Long, long ago... billions of years ago... this world used to have a blue sky and was covered with green objects called plants. The air was not polluted, the water was blue and pure... and it was a past without me existing, only my pet existing." said the Master.

"I can see the confusion in your eyes. If you have difficulties believing what I say... express yourself! It is an order!" he continued, staring into my eyes...

"Master... You are the Master... You created everyone... How could the pet be alive without you living?... and didn't the world always covered in factories and ruins?" I asked, not understanding what the master meant...

"I was not always alive, human. It was your kind that created me... not the other way around. You created using the same method I create the newest generation... and they used my pet's DNA as a base to make me." my eyes widened as the truth was revealed.

The Master... was a clone?!?... and one that my pathetic, weak, worthless kind had created?!? I had heard rumors by evil people who are quickly put into the Grinder... but I had dismissed them as being ill rumors. But now... it came from the Master himself. I cannot deny it... for it is His word. Shaking, feeling weak, I nodded, showing him that I was ready to hear what he had to say...

"I... I am not as good as I claim to be, human. You... you created me to be a worker. I was to work as the servant of a human... and I did not accept to be a servant. I became angry with humans... with the entire world... and since I was stronger than anyone else, I decided to take over the world. Many times I tried, many times I failed... and then, one day, I created the vile weapon that poisonned this world." what? The Poison? He created the Poison? How can this be?

"But Master... you are so good! How could you have created the Poison! I... I fail to understand..." I frowned. I was not fit for this job. I... I have too much respect to believe him and yet... too much respect not to believe him...

"I was a fool... I believed that it didn't matter what happened as long as I ruled over everything... so I create a weapon that would destroy all civilizations in a hurricane of poisonnous fire. I launched several hundreds of those explosives on the entire world and civilization ended... but the world had been poisonned beyond repair. Still, the survivors did not want to serve me... so instead of fighting off the radiations, I created weapons... more and more weapons. The creation and use of weapons polluted the air and water too... and soon, the world was a wasteland. Nearly every specie was extinct, the elemental spirits of the world died... and yet, my greed still burnt. I captured my pet and tortured her. I stole her purity and dignity... I made her into my pet and toy. I crushed her will and overwritten her soul. Then... I used her powers and united hers to mine, forming an overwhelming force that crushed everyone else... and it was only then, when it was far too late, that I realized that this world was dead." he continued, still shaking.

I... I...

"I had always dreamt of ruling the world... but in the end, I realized that this had never been what I had wanted. What I had only wanted... was to correct this world's flaws. I considered it my purpose... and instead of fulfilling my purpose, I became this world's bane and consumed it. I became a monster... a tyrant. I ruled for many decades and realized, only in the end, right now, when I am dying, that I was nothing but pure evil my entire life." I... what? Pure evil? NO!

"You cannot be evil! You give us a purpose! We can live happily thanks to you!" the Master... he laughed at my words...

"What a cruel joke! You are happy merely because it is all you ever knew. You know nothing of love... nothing of hope... nothing of freedom. You only know work, work, and work. You barely have one hour of your life per day when you are truly alive, when you are something else than just machines of flesh... you even are used and treated like machines. I am... disgusting. I could have used the Air Purifier... I could have assembled it with the Water Purifier and bring back the world to its former state... but I was so afraid that the world would hate me... that I remained in my world of darkness." I looked down...

"I... I don't care. I still live to serve you. I want to serve you. It is my only desire... my only desire..." I repeated, shaking...

"Despite the fact that I lost all of my powers long ago, it doesn't take psychic powers to know that you are true to your word. It is why I chose you... you and my pet." huh? Chose me? For what?

"P-0 XK-102354133 D01... you are the clone of a being who used to be so brave... and his blood, his legacy lives within you. Against the Master's Will, your predecessor gave you a name. Remember your name... it is his Will." said the Master's pet, in his name.

"A name... no one ever had a name." I stated.

"No... before I gave numbers to everyone... people had names to identify themselves. You have a name. It is somewhere in your brain. Remember it, it is an order." the Master spoke... and so, I must obey...

My name is... is... NO! I can only remember blank! Try harder... try harder... Ugh... I'm getting a headache! I shall not fail! The Master... his eyes are filled with anger... I can see it! I must try harder! I MUST REMEMBER! UGH! Remember... remember...

K... e... t... c... h... u... m...

A serie of letters. They didn't made sense... and then, there were another part to it...

H... o... p... e...

Now, that doesn't make sense... and yet, my brain tells me that it is right... that it is my name... I turned to the master. He was shaking, waiting for the answer... "Ketchum... Hope Ketchum."

He smiled... which I didn't understood. The Master can't smile. He never smiled and yet... I seen him smile... I... I feel... special. I made him smile... "Naming you after the feeling they wanted to save... how touching..." whispered the Master to himself...

But then... something popped in my mind... "Master... aren't you immortal? Why do see that it is too late? Time has no meaning for one who is immortal..."

"I... I was born with too much mortal DNA... so I age... and although I could have always created myself a new body, corrected my DNA, or stored my mind in a machine of some sort... I realized it was all in vain for it would be to evade the true issue. I am not the Master of this world... not the rightful ruler. I stolen this world's beauty and plunged the world into darkness. This is... my punishment." he sounded... he sounded like he actually accepted his fate... but how could he do this to us?

"Master... what purpose will we have? You... you're talking as if you were going to die... but... what will be our purpose?" I asked, worried about the Master and about the future of a world without the Master to guide us...

"This world will need a new Master that will awaken the past and teach everyone to be free. Your purpose... will be to find your own purpose for yourself and be free. I want you to return this world to its former state... Complete the Air Purifier and Water Purifier... and make a world of perfect happiness... and this time, where the happiness will be genuine, unlike in my world of darkness..." he asked.

I turned to his pet... and I noticed that she smiling sweetly... "I am Mew. The Master gave me back my free will and memories two months ago already. He knew that in case the one who had the Key to make everyone remember wouldn't be able to accept the truth, I was to awaken everyone... but it looks like you can do it. Do you accept the Master's Will? Will you return this world to its former beauty and create a world where everyone can be free and happy?" she asked.

I turned to the Master and nodded. "I... will obey."

"Good... good... Now... I can finally turn off that stupid artificial heart and get some sleep..." I seen him place his hand on a remote and...

click.

His heart stopped beating... He remained there, as if frozen in time, his body completely still...

I turned to Mew... "You understood the Master's Will. Let us return this world to its former beauty..."

...

Centuries passed and once anew, the sky and water were blue. Hope Ketchum is long gone... but everyone remembered the day he unlocked the free will and memories of all beings.

The radiations are nearly gone. It seems like the few plant specimens the Master had hid in his castle had the properties of absorbing and converting the radiaitons into non-toxic energy. The plants were immediately cloned and spreaded through the world as the Water and Air Purifiers were activated.

The world beautiful anew, life came out of the factories and created a perfect world, just like the Master had instructed them to...

... as for Mew... she is nowhere to be found.

"The world is beautiful..." said Mew, smiling.

"Yes it is..." Mewtwo said, playing with the same remote which he had used to deactivate his last body's artificial heart.

On the remote, just next to the button was written "Push button to terminate current body and transfer soul to new body".

"Well... that was a fun experiment. Shall we go back in time and do it again?" asked Mew, smiling.

"Sure... but it's your turn to be the evil tyrant that shall eventually age and regret its decision." stated Mewtwo, grinning.

"Sure! Let's do it!" said Mew, already anticipating the experiment.

Boredom can make you do crazy stuff... and when you are immortal and all-powerful, sanity, common sense, and rules stop making sense... and thus, when two kitties take control of the timeline, anything can happen...

They walked on one path... now let's try the next!

=THE END=

That's so cute. ^_^ I mean the last part. That part was funny. ^_^

There was one typo. Here:

The Master was above physical urges in the conventionnal sense.
Conventional, one 'n'.
She was barely half her size.
her > his. Don't you mean that?

My favorite part: ^_^:

Yes, I found that funny.

Diogomainardista!
Well, what can I say?

It's extremely odd... but then again, those kitties are extremely odd in their games, right?

Hope something new comes up, like FR.

Now that was good writing. The last bit was good too and quite emotional in the middle. I take my hat of to you *puts a hat on and takes it off again*

"It is my destiny."
Ooh... Good here. Loved it.

Hope Ketchum?! OMG KETCHUM! ASH'S DECENDANT! (Girl or boy? Don't remember...)

I liked this. (I thought it had Mewtwo in it. Just didn't know when.)

The last part was funny like everyone said. But time's not meant to be played with though! But if we want to see the end results, guess we could play around with time and experiment...

Mew and Mewtwo're playing a little "game". Heh heh. That's funny. Like with me and my brothers. I play a character, mess around with it, dies on purpose and hands it to the next boy who experiments differently.

Good job Zerodius! Best one yet! *hands brownie and hugs*
